Well, it would be a guess but two of us in a 12' fiberglass dingy covered about a mile (and that's just an estimate) in under 5 minutes (again, I didn't measure the time) so roughly 12 mph. I'll try to get something a little more accurate for you next time out. I know we were both surprised at how well it moved the boat!

We have been having really good success using large (7") plastics, and a rather large plastic craw fish. we try to get them in tight to the weed edges or into pockets in the weeds. A couple of small pieces of split shot helps get them to drop deeper into the weeds and we rig them up so they are weedless. Works for us!

Trip of a lifetime ?

Well, we've had 4 trips out with this new 2019 Honda 2.3 air cooled and I have got to say I'm impressed! First of all I got an excellent deal on it, just under $1000.00 all in and a 5 year warranty, RL Sports in Verner were wonderful to deal with! When I picked up the motor it had been fully serviced, tested, and was ready to go fishing. That's service you don't get from the big box stores! Weighing only 29 lbs it's easy to transport which makes it ideal for getting into those little back lakes. It fits easily into a cargo bag on the back of our ATV's, no need for special brackets or mounts and being stored in the cargo bag keeps it clean when running some of those bush trails we use. I was a little worried about how noisy it might be especially after reading some reviews, I'm not sure if they have changed something on the newer models but this thing is much quieter than I expected it to be. At an idle you can hardly even hear it (mind you I am a little deaf) Fuel economy is crazy good, a combination of trolling, running, idling, we got over 9 hours on one tank (about a liter) of gas. East to start: in most cases you hardly have to crank it over, a short easy pull and it's running! I really like the centrifugal clutch system, no shifting required, troll, idle, full speed, it all just flows together. Want reverse, just spin the motor. Being air cooled means you can run this thing into shallow, weedy, muddy, bays that would make you cringe with a water cooled motor. It has plenty of power for what we do with it, two men in a 12' boat and it moves along surprising fast, where we would have spent hours paddling to cover some of the areas we fish we can now be fishing in a few minutes and you're not exhausted at the end of the day. All in all I'd give this motor a 5 out of 5 star rating!

19.5" on father's day weekend ? another trip we won't forget!

It's early yet and the water is still cold, look for structure with some current . Drop shot with a minnow would be a good choice. Watch for other boats, if you see others fishing an area pay attention, this early in the season it's likely they are locals. Enjoy but be careful, the water levels are VERY high right now.

NICE! I'm sure many wonderful memories will follow!

That's a beauty! Exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't find one so I bought the class A
-
It is equipped with a hitch but I don't know if I will at this point
-
I'd love to do that, if we can get him upt the stairs and in the door I'm sure we could make him comfortable. What did you buy? Yup has a built in 4000 watt generator, fully independent ?
-
I bought a CF Moto last year and LOVE it! I was a little concerned because they are the new kid so to speak but so far this thing has been flawless and it came standard with all the bells and whistles for a lot less than anything else in the same class.
-
Well it's got room for 5 more co-pilots (as long as one of them is cute and female (or 4 more of my normal friends LOL). Thanks for all the great replies, it's nice to share this with you!

Any time my friend! No special license required, it's under the weight requirement and has hydraulic brakes Actually haven't had a chance to really plot that out yet but 328 km cost me about $130.00 @ $1.379 so it really isn't too bad. When you figure a really basic motel room up in the French River area is $100.00 + tax a night...... I will leave it at my son's place when I'm not traveling and just run back and forth with my car.
-
Well, I finally decided I couldn't decide where I wanted to buy a cottage so I got one on wheels ? . It's got all the comforts of home, and I don't have to worry about finding motel rooms any more. Ready, willing, and able to go fishing anywhere, any time!

What a nice looking family and a good mess of fish to boot!?

Last year when I went South the place I rented didn't have a BBQ. I ended up at Wall-mart and found a little portable charcoal one for $14.99 US, bought a bag of briquets and proceeded to cook all sorts of things on it. It's not very big, perhaps 14" in diameter but it was perfect for two people and I have even managed to cook 4 decent size steaks on it at the same time. I liked it so much that when I got back home I bought two more of them ($19.99 at Wall-mart here), one for here at the house and one for when I am up North. It was a little slower than propane but I kind of liked the way things turned out so I took a little extra time. Last week I was reading that if you want the best BBQ flavors you should use charcoal instead of briquets and that even the quality of the charcoal makes a huge difference. I had tried charcoal last year at one point but wasn't too impressed with it, I found it hard to light and it didn't seem to get very hot so I kind of gave up on it. Last week I was in CTC and bought a bag of Royal Oak charcoal, it was more money than some of the other brands but I thought WTH I'll give it another try; WOW what a difference! Easier to light, burns really nice and hot, gets hot fast and it hardly uses any charcoal. One of the other features I really like is that since I am usually only cooking for 1 to 4 people I only need a couple of handfuls of charcoal to cook the whole meal, most of the other BBQs I looked at would need a small pail full just to cover the bottom. Anyway, just thought I'd share, it's not the best quality BBQ I have ever seen, this one is now on it's second season and it's starting to get a little rusty on the outside but for $20.00? I can afford to replace it every two years if I need to and it's still a lot cheaper than buying a propane one?
-
Boy I really appreciate all the replies and incite, you guys have really helped me narrow it down, thank you! Based on your replies I put together a pros/cons list and it looks like I am going to go with the propane. ?
-
Some really good points, I could go with propane, I did have it out at Snug Harbour, I'd have to get lines run which I'm told would cost me about $500.00 then there is the cost of the stove. Cleaning is about the same as ring type burners although I did find propane discolored the bottoms of my pots and pans. Might be something to consider especially if we can get rid of this "carbon cash grab".

Thanks Bruce, some interesting reading there

Well, it's time for me to buy a new stove and I am having a really hard time deciding which one to buy. The trend seems to be toward flat tops but never having one I'm a little hesitant to go that route, I've been told that they can be finicky to clean and polish, are prone to scratching, and you have to be very careful what pans you use on them. The ring elements; well, I know they can be a pain to clean if you do have a spill but but I'm pretty careful and that doesn't happen too often. I sort of like the fact that if an element does burn out it's easy to repair..... Who has what and would you buy that again and if so why/why not? The other question I have is : Stainless or white, I was going to go with white but it seems that stainless is the trend right now and my choices in white is somewhat limited, I've been told that stainless shows finger prints and such like crazy. Again, not a huge deal but I'm looking for feedback. Any other concerns/recommendations? Any help would be much appreciated!

I hope you and yours are safe, I saw on the news that a 3 year old boy was killed when a tree fell on their house. So very sad!?

I have the crimping tool, rosin core solder, heat shrink tubing, and top of the line soldering station. If you want to make a road trip to Lindsay, I can given you a hand.
