Thank you one and all, it was wonderful to see so many old friends and reflect on times gone by. I will be catching up with many of you in the next little while!

I use to do a lot of upland game bird hunting when I was younger and had Andy. On one trip I was taking my son out with me; planning the trip was lots of fun: what should we use 12 G or 20 G. Since we were going for pheasant and grouse we decided on the 20s. We packed a nice lunch, loaded up the car: guns, check: amo, check: dog, check: and away we went. It was only a couple of hours drive which gave us time to have our coffee and plan our day. The trip was beautiful, we got to our destination and the sun was just coming up, it was going to be a perfect day. I let the dog out to stretch while we were getting our gear on and within a minute there was Andy on point at the edge of the parking lot. I told Clifford to grab his gun and go bag the first bird of the day. That's when the fun started, Clifford uncased his gun and pulled out his 20 gauge, opened the amo box and found out we had brought the box with 12 gauge shells instead of the one with the 20 gauge shells. Poor Andy couldn't understand why I would take him off a perfectly good solid point and not even try to shoot that bird. The trip home was pretty quiet as you can imagine but it did add a new routine to later trips; confirm you have the right amo box for the guns you are going to use.

For those that can't make it no worries, a kind thought or a prayer is plenty! That's all Sue would have wanted anyway. For anyone that is coming DO NOT try coming up the 115/35 then 35 to Lindsay, Hwy 35 is closed for construction and the detour will add about 25 km to your trip. There is a shorter detour but it is not marked and involves a narrow country road. My mailbox is now empty Thanks again Simon!

Sue was very emphatic, she didn't want a funeral of any sort but agreed that if I wanted to do something I could have a celebration of life (as long as it was kept simple). In keeping with her wishes: Celebration of life for Sue Bignell Oct. 28, 2017 from 2 to 5 pm 9 Riverwood Park Rd. (Social Club) Lindsay, ON K9V 0K2

I would really like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers, it means so much! I have been surrounded by family, friends and neighbors and apologize for not getting back to everyone as promptly as I should. Sue didn't want any sort of a funeral but we will be having a celebration of life in a couple of weeks, I will start to sort out the details this week and post it on here. If anyone does feel they would like to make a donation in She's name, her favorite charity was The Heart and Stroke and her full name was Susan Dale Bignell Our address for those that have been asking is: Pikeslayer has suggested that posting my address on line isn't a good idea so please contact him for our address. Thanks Simon! I am still trying to process everything, it's going to take time!

At 10:05 this morning my beloved Sue slipped quietly and with out pain or fear to join the list of angles. She had suffered many heart attacks but survived them during the past 25 years. About two months ago she went into A-fib and attempts to correct it weren't successful but about a week ago she developed pneumonia. Up until this morning she was starting to show signs of improvement. Sadly her heart finally decided she had fought long and hard enough. I am no longer half the man I used to be! RIP my beloved princess

Welcome to the country where people come to enjoy the fresh air and outdoors; then throw their garbage out their of their car, into ditches, on the ground. Years ago beans and I were at a fairly remote spot, there were garbage cans but people still threw garbage on the ground, too lazy to walk a few extra feet. A number of places on Sturgeon lake have been closed because people were leaving garbage all over the place. A friend use to allow people to fish from his place until someone took a dump on his steps as a thank you. Too sad!

ATV club is an excellent start, dust masks if you are going on a trail ride will really save your lungs.

I'm no electrician but I do have a really good multi meter and would be happy to bring it by and try to help you solve the problem, shouldn't be that hard if we follow Michael's directions step by step. (you can even hold the notes if you want LOL) Phone me if you want, I can probably drop by today or tomorrow. 705-928-8899

It's easy to be over confident BEFORE the storm hits, it's really hard to imagine that it could be THAT bad! Once you realize that it is going to be a life changer it's too late. We've all seen guys go out in their boats when there are wind warnings thinking that if it get too bad they'll just book it for shore. Some of us have even done it and we should know better, some didn't make it home. All we can do is pray that Irma turns at the last minute and/or that the death toll won't be too high! Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved.

Dead Cow Lecture.. First-year students at the Purdue School of Veterinarian Medicine were attending their first anatomy class with a real dead cow. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet. The professor started the class by telling them, "In Veterinary medicine it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor. The first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving an animal's body." For an example, the professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger into the butt of the cow, withdrew it, and stuck his finger in his mouth. "Go ahead and do the same thing," he told his students. The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the butt of the dead cow and, sucked on it........followed by assorted gagging, retching and spitting, etc. When everyone had finished wiping their faces, the Professor looked at them and said, "The second most important quality is observation. I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger. ... Now learn to pay attention. Life is tough but it's even tougher if you're stupid."

OK, so nada, nothing, I sit here all worried because Sue has a pacemaker/ICD which communicates through cell phone with the hospital so they can monitor her heart function. I've been watching CTV waiting for some news because I'm worried that wireless communications could go out, I sure hope this wasn't someone's idea of a joke, cause a night without sleep sure isn't funny to me. Just how serious is this supposed "9.3" and how does it compare to what was supposed to happen today?
-
I just spent an hour watching CTV News and didn't see one mention of any of this?
-
Wow, that's pretty scary stuff, I wonder if it could affect things like pace makers and such?
-
I totally agree with you, retail prices are way out to lunch. I think you need to talk to bigugly on here, he's been manufacturing and selling tackle for many years, I love his stuff and his prices but he doesn't cover everything.

Still think a 3" mister twister on a 3/8 oz jig is the best walleye bait out there -
I don't use it but thanks for the heads up!

When we bought our house on Snug Harbour I went to all the major building material suppliers and asked to open an account because I was going to be doing home renovations, it was a cash account so I just paid for everything as I bought it and so no credit applications or anything to fill out. Each time I had any sort of project to do I did as G.mech suggested, made a list, sent it to each of them and got them to quote me on it. I wold pick the best quote for the lot but if there was any item that seemed priced high compared to the other quotes I'd go to the supplier I was going to deal with, explain that ABC had only quoted me X for it and could they match it? Very often they did, saved me a lot of money!
