Well I learned a couple of things: 1 lb of salt cot and 4 good size baking potatoes and two onions makes enough fish cakes to feed about 6 hungry people (or 8 seniors LOL) You can never have too many scrunch ions I should have been born on the East coast Man those are some mighty fine eats and all made from something so simple. Thanks for the recipe my friend, it has now been added to one of Grandpa's favorites!

Whoops Savoy LOL. I'm on my second glass of wine

So tonight's menu is: Cod cakes done with a recipe from a friends Nan. Scrunch ions (not sure of the spelling but it's phonetic LOL) (needed some pork fat to fry the cod cakes so why not). French fried onions (my own recipe) and savory cabbage (didn't have a recipe so I googled one). What are you cooking?

Totally understandable! I hope everything goes well with your wife's recovery!

Same price?

I know someone that was interested in buying a boat; he was young and it was going to be his first "significant" purchase. He was curious as to why someone would want to sell what seemed to him to be a "dream boat" so he asked the question. The answer could have been anything that made sense; too big, too small, don't use it enough....... About the only answer he wouldn't have been happy with is "it's no good". He got the same response as you just gave; "none of your business"! When he asked me what I thought I told him to walk away, you don't want to deal with someone if they aren't willing to talk to you. Want me to suggest he call the guy back? Might not have even been you but one never knows! Oh and he is an OFCr too.

Thanks, need some, I'll be there in the am!

X 2 You are probably spending what is to you a considerable amount of money. The question could possibly be a polite one and an attempt to strike up a conversation. It's always nicer to deal with a friend rather than an adversary. I just read yesterday where 58% of people selling a house would consider taking a lower offer from someone that they felt really "appreciated" the house.

Am I too late for a sugar shack breakfast? NF

Thank you so much guys, I think Sue and I are going to try to get out for a visit to one of them on Saturday! Really appreciate the help! -
Been trying to find one to go to this Saturday for Sue and I. Have I left it too late? Anyone know of one in the Kawartha's area? It would be much appreciated! I have tried searching on line but I'm not having a lot of success.

Good for you for enjoying the adventure! I have always enjoyed pier fishing in FL. First day everyone kind of stands back and watches you. Second day a few people start to talk to you, third day you are part of the family LOL. Enjoy!

You go into work Friday morning to pick up your pay and instead of your regular pay envelope there is just a plain white envelope in your mail slot with your name on it? I kind of looked at it and went "oh oh" but I was in a hurry and everyone seemed busy so I just took it and left. I drove down the road and pulled into a parking lot and opened the envelope. I couldn't believe my eyes, there was a beautifully written letter thanking me for my loyalty and dedication to the companies profitability; a totally unexpected $100.00 compensation for attending a meeting that I hadn't expected any compensation for at all; and a very nice unasked for raise in pay! Way to make a guy proud of the company he works for and want to do even more if he can!

You know what, I am getting really tired of you and your insults and insinuations. First it was "chintzy", then "basically stealing", "smart ass", "go steal it then" "another thread devolves into complaining about the youth of today"! I don't have any problem with people having a different opinion but you are getting pretty rude!

Boat/Motor service and/or repair recomendations
Big Cliff replied to Beans's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, Dara you are a very smart dude but muffs provide pressurized water! That in no way tests the cooling system! The VERY best test for any motor isn't with muffs but in the lake or in a tank. Muffs are ok for doing a tune up and such but I would never send a friend out on the water with a motor that hadn't been properly tested to make sure the cooling system wasn't working properly. By the time they find out it isn't working properly they are far enough away from the dock that not only is their motor toast, so is their day of fishing! (just my $0.05 worth) -
$3.99 in your pocket or $4.00 in Loblaw's pocket is what it boils down to, which do you prefer? Young people don't seem to watch the pennies like us older folks. Spending money isn't a bad thing, but getting value for your money seems to be becoming a lost art.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that the cashier could do it. I would probably still go to customer service instead of holding up people in line while the cashier calls for a price check. I sometimes find 3 or 4 out of 8 or 9 items that are priced wrong. At that rate you'd almost think they could save money by paying an employee to go around and do price checks on products. That is unless they figure more people miss it and pay the higher price than catch it and get the saving.

Boat/Motor service and/or repair recomendations
Big Cliff replied to Beans's topic in General Discussion
I have had a few dealings with Buckeye: I took a friends motor in to them because I just didn't have the time to work on it myself. The customer service person at the counter started giving me a big list of all the tests that they needed to do (this was before they even saw the motor) some of them didn't make any sense at all so I pulled out my small engine mechanics license and asked him if he would mind starting over. The whole atmosphere changed instantly and by the time we were done I was quite satisfied that I was being treated fairly. The last time I took my boat and motor in they water tested it for 1.8 hours and failed to notice that a 4 Cyl. 60 HP Merc was only running on three Cyl., it had a failed coil pack. I am sorry, maybe they are wonderful and everyone can make a mistake but from my experience..... I was left a little uneasy! Mechanics on Trent caught and repaired the defective coil and did a full tune up on the engine for just over $400.00 parts and labour which I thought was quite reasonable. -
You know what, don't piss in my cup I won't piss in yours!

And don't bother going out and spending money on seeds; A slice of tomato in a peat pot with a little potting soil under it and lightly covered in potting soil and lightly water it, you'll have all the tomato plants you need. Works for all kinds of other things too, almost anything that has seeds in it. Carrot tops can be rooted, potatoes....... Going to try the bean sprouts and alfalfa though

Didn't know about that, I'll check into it. Thanks!!!

It would be ashamed to see those used, they truly are works of art. I have an air brush kit that was loaned/given to me by another member, some day I hope to be able to use it properly but I doubt I'll ever reach your level of expertise.

I wasn't going to say that, I do try to be polite but since you did; :rofl2: :rofl2:

Sad story perhaps but it could have been a lot sadder story if you had reacted without thinking, I think you made the right call! I wonder where the dog's owner was at that point, must be someone local, perhaps check with a few of the neighbors.

A penny here, a dollar there.... I just went through my receipts and in the last month I have saved $67.32 by catching their errors. That might not seem like much to you but I work four hard hours+ to make that. If that average holds that would be $807.84 over a year. That is 50.5 extra hours I have to work in a year to pay for their mistakes. You can call it chintzy if you want but if it puts an extra $800.00 a year in my pocket; well I've been called worse for a heck of a lot less.
