I don't even fish the French anymore, the slot limits are very restrictive and I do like to bring a few fish home for dinner. I have found some other spots that produce well but are in a different management zone (same area). Next time you guys want to go up that way let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Remember to change the "O" ring seals too.

Thinking of doing a road trip first week or so of Nov., (I'm wide open to suggestions but I have to be back here for Nov. 14) thinking Myrtle Beach and some pier fishing for a few days but I'd consider other destinations. Looking for a navigator, I'll supply the car (2019 RAV 4) and fuel, we split motel costs/driving; dutch treat for food and other expenses. If you are interested let me know. I'm a non drinker, (don't care if you do as long as you don't get nasty or stupid) non smoker (don't care if you do but not in my car or motel room). Room for one only.

LOL, I have had some nice fishing trips with it already this summer, it's completely self sufficient, setup takes less than 3 minutes and you've got all the comforts of home.

Thank you, I appreciate the suggestion, I have added that info.

I have posted it in the classifieds and will be putting it on some other sites as well but I'm not sure what other information I should be posting. If some of you guys that frequently sell stuff on line could take a quick look and give me some suggestions I'd really appreciate it.

If you run it dry, it's dry, there should be VERY little if any fuel left in the bowl. Removing the drain plug won't hurt anything and if there is any water or dirt in the bowl it might help.

Where is the boat, if anywhere in the Kawarthas area I can go to it in the morning and try to get the part number for you pm me if that will help

Perhaps there should be a third selection in the poll, "other". Two strokes get their lubrication from the oil mixed in the fuel, when you run them dry that's exactly what you are doing to the engine, running it dry (without lubrication), yes it's only for seconds but trust me it's still not good for the engine. The other thing is running it dry leaves diaphragms and seals dry while in storage which can cause problems. I am not a big fan of stabilizers, I have seen way too many engines that are messed up because of them, people tend to over use them and engines aren't designed to run on stabilizers. Besides that they are expensive and some of them can/will actually absorb water from the atmosphere which ends up in the bottom of your tank. My preferred method is: use high test (non ethanol) fuel in all your equipment at least for the last run of the season, you can drain your tank for storage if you want but don't run the engine dry.

That's looking good already 🤗

We did ours yesterday, now comes my favorite part, leftovers 😊 Happy thanksgiving everyone 🤗

Here is an excellent link that explains why you should change your oil on a regular basis Hydroscopic water contamination Shorter runs (where an engine does not get a chance to really warm up are the worst) As for the "You can pay me now or PAY ME later" you have to belong to the old timers club, that goes back to an old oil filter add 😊

Pay me now or PAY ME LATER . Keep changing it every year, it will cost you less in the long run.

Susan Dale Bignell Sept. 17, 1946 - Oct. 4, 2017 😥 She started each day with an “I love you!” and she meant it I could tell. Then her face would light up with a mischievous grin, It was a look I knew so well. She would look at me with her big blue eyes, you could see the laughter there. Then she’d shake her head and the sunlight danced, from the streaks in her golden hair. She always had time for a hug and a kiss, she always wore a smile. No matter how busy her day became, she’d listen to me for a while. She always made me feel like a king, or at least let me think that I am. But one thing in this world I’ll never doubt, and that is that I was her man. She ended each day as it began, with one more “I love you!” Then she’d cuddle up and I’d hold her tight, you see, I loved her too! Forever in my heart! Clifford S Bignell

We are guests in your home here and we have the right to leave if we don't like the rules. I have been here a long time too, over 20 years. In the time you have been running the board, I might not always agree with you, but I have never known you to be unfair! (oh and I have had a few posts locked and in hindsight deserved it.)

OMG those are some beautiful looking eats and that jerky sounds amazing! That's one I'm going to have to try, thanks! Just found my first puffball this year, they are about a month later than normal, I always fry some up (in lots of butter) then dehydrate the rest to use in soups, sauces, and stews but I'm going to try to lightly smoke a slab this year before frying. Found a nice bunch of chantrells last weekend up North, I'm going to try to find more this weekend and dehydrate them in the smoker. I'm thinking a light hint of smoke on them might produce a unique flavor. Anyone ever tried anything similar with mushrooms?

Well after seeing that misfish scored a smoker and was having fun with it I decided it was something I'd like to get back at. I hadn't done much in the way of smoking meats and things for a long time and pretty much only did a bit of smoked fish once in a while so I picked up a Little Chief smoker and got back at it. So far I've only done a couple of things but I'm super happy with the results. since it seams there a few others that enjoy doing it I thought it might be fun to share some smoker recipes, tricks, and tips. My first attempt was a nice Brisket about 6 lbs. (I got the butcher to cut one in half for me) I like to keep things simple in the beginning then build on a recipe as I go so this time I did it Texas Style just kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. I mixed about 2 TBS of coarse salt and 2 TBS of fresh ground pepper in a spice shaker and sprinkled the brisket with that then rubbed it in. I used 3 pans of Alder over about 3 hours then removed the brisket from the smoker, wrapped it in un coated butcher paper (but foil might have been a better choice) and put it on the top rack of my BBQ. It took a bit of playing around and I had to prop the lid of the BBQ slightly open but I managed to get the BBQ to hold about 225°F and I left the brisket in there for about 8 hours with a meat thermometer in it until it got up to 160 °F internal. I wasn't going to serve it that night so I let it cool then put it in the fridge. The next day I put it back in the oven at about 150° still wrapped in the foil and left it there for about 3 hours removing it from the oven about 1/2 an hour before serving it. The meat was so tender you could almost cut it with your fork and it was beautifully moist and full of flavour, as good as or better than I have ever had anywhere else. I let what little there was left over chill in the fridge then sliced it paper thin and vac-packed it for sandwiches. Anyway if any of you have tried and true recipes you'd like to share, I'm looking for some more to try.

Just wondering if you have made any more progress on your decision to move North?

What a wonderful report ? I can't do the walking any more but my son and I have managed to fish some wonderful back wood lakes this summer. You are right, nothing beats it!
