  2. Looks like a good outing. Nice pike pics also.
  3. Wild thanks for the link
  4. Glad you did well today. It was worth the drive, nice pic also
  5. Great report. Crappie in Fish Crisp sounds great. Glad you had a good trip out.
  6. Great report and pics. The carp is a beauty
  7. Try both ways depending on conditions and species. I find for smallie I leave the hook by the tenticles and largies on the head area.
  8. The Lowrance is worth the extra $$. It has a better power and also IMHO quicker detailing and reception. The internal GPS is a great feature and I have heard good things about them. The software capabilities should be the same but it may be easier to get updates on the Lowrance unit. You must consider though if the unit need repair later on with the GPS reciever that you will lose the whole unit and be without a sonar as well. Either way you will be happy with your choices.
  9. Sorry to hear that your day was not productive. I was up as well for the weekend and we caught 17 walleye in 2 days and thought the fishing was really good. We were in a different area of the lake but the winds were weird for sure.
  10. 90% of all my reels have FINS PRT Braid. Spinning have 15lb and casting 30lb and 50lb
  11. It seems the opener there was good for some and bad for others. The weed beds should start coming up soon and the fish should start grouping up.
  12. Welcome to a great board and community
  13. Shop around at a few instituitions for the best rate going. I played the prime markets for a while and then locked in for a 5 year term at the right time. Some mortgages like the one I had will offer the prime mortgagae with a cap but also if you decide to lock in will give you 1.35% off the posted rate. The 10 year mortgage is a long time and if you do some number crunching may or maynot be the right thing to do but 5.65% seems fair. Make a few phone calls and see what other competitors are offering.
  14. Welcome to a great site and community. This is a special board with some incredible members. The only stupid questions are the ones not asked. Look forward to your reports and welcome.
  15. I use the FINS PRT braid which is similar to PP and 10 and 15lb test is fine on spinning reels. For casting don't go any lower than 30lb as the diameter is only 8lb mono. You can get away with up to 30lb on the spinning reels but watch out for you lb recommendations on your rod also.
  16. Great fishing there for sure. For Panfish look at the Phenix minitubes and the Technium stinger baits. they work great in there. Fishing World had some last time I was there.
  17. I like using the Berkley Gulp leeches in black. They last longer and work great for eyes.
  18. lol
  19. Check out Rice Lake. Some crown land and also parks cheap for accomadations. The money you will save in gas may help off set costs.
  20. Great report and and kudos to you bringing the dog with ya.
  21. Good luck on the trip. Stock up on some bucktails before ya go and also jigs, and shad raps.
  22. Yes the plastic jerk shad work really well for pike. Look at the Strike King Zulu bait as they are very strong and resist tearing. The new ones from Tiki baits are nice and have some great colours in them for attraction. They are on sale at Fishing World for $3.99 a pack.
  23. Nice haul and pic. Congrats on a great outing
  24. It's good to spoil yourself. Looks like some nice gear. Those new Soltace's are really nice.
