  1. This is a great board with awesome members. Great to see these good deeds.
  2. Great stuff. Rice has been fishing tougher the last few years but when you find the sweet spots you can still do really well for bass and walleye.

  4. Glad you had a great day and the smiles say it all.
  5. Nice job Al you always seem to be on the fish on Ontario.
  6. Call the MNR asap and see what they can do for ya. Also if you have an old card around or a copy of your # on the card would help expedite things.
  7. Morning all
  8. Went out with my dad for a few hours on the weekend to get into some bass. Weather was seaonally cold and also very windy with winds from the north west. The ideal area for the smallies seem to be hanging out on weed rock transitions from 7 - 12 feet of water. Largies were on deeper weed lines. Phenix tubes and grubs in darker colours were the hottest baits on the weekend by far. They were fished on Shimano Crucial spinning rods spooled with 10lb Fins PRT on a Shimano 2500 Stradic with a 7ft floro lead of Gama florocarbon. The tubes and grubs had to be fished slowly and deliberately with short hops and pauses. I used the cylinder style tube jig heads at 1/4 and 5/16oz tube jig heads. We did not get into any huge fish but we did catch alot in the 2 - 3lb range. Here are some pics from the weekend:
  9. Well just got back from BOQ and my first bass tourney of the year. Saturday was a fun day but was spent catching alot of fish from shallow matt flats and also some deeper weed lines. Largest of the day was a 4.55lb bucket and a total weight of 13.70 lbs. We were in 42nd spot after day 1. We then managed to have a great day on day 2 with the 2nd largest bag of the day at 18.76 pounds. We had 2 fish over 5lbs in our 5 fish limit. We moved to 11th place overall, we took 1st place in the 115hp and under division, won big fish with a 5.45lb bucket and also tied for overall big fish for both days. It was a great to finally get out and pound the bass. We caught well over 30 fish over the 2 days. The BOQ is truly a great fishery. The best patterns were deep weedlines in 8-10ft of water using Phenix Craws and Tubes on Fin Tech Title Shot jigs in 1/2 and 3/4 oz. In the shallows is where all our big fish came and the secret was to find blow in close to deeper flats. In these areas we managed our 4 biggest fish of the 2 days. It was incredible hooking these big fish and fighting them through all that heavy cover. For gear I was using Shimano Crucial flipping sticks and also a 7ft Heavy Crucial casting rods with the Shimano High Speed Curado spooled with 50lb FINS PRT Braid. The magic bait in the shallows was a Phenix Chubby Worm ( similar to a senko but slower fall pegged with a 1/8oz Tru-tungsten worm weight. We also managed other fish on spinnerbaits in white and chartreuse, top waters, shallow crankbaits. Here is a picture of the one bass weighing 5.45lbs.
  10. This board has a great affect on alot of people.
  11. Hey Evan hope all is well. My recomendations are always tie direct but for your examples above go with: 1) jig (flipping or jig with a plastic on it) - Tie direct and braid in 30++ willl be fine 2) finnesse worms - floro in 10-14lb test try the new Gamma 3) spinner baits - in weeds 30 lb braid open water 12 lb Gamma copolymer 4) crankbaits - you know which one I use for this 5) live bait - floro in 6- 10lb but you don't need to use live bait for bass.
  12. Get ready for an increase soon. Hamilton went up 4 cents on the weekend to $1.04
  13. 1 big bass 2 slop bass 3 open water bass 4 dock bass Did I mention that I love bass fishing????
  14. could look at a few alternate routes to get around but better to avoid it all together by the sounds of it.
  15. Atleast you got out for the day. Rice has been hit and miss for eyes and crappie so it must have been a miss day. As you said atleast you got a nice tan. Good luck on the next outing.

  17. Look at swithching over the sonnection of the red terminal. If its copper it will oxidize due to moisture quickly. Look at the wiring also above the connection to make sure that is okay also. Change it over to a similar connector as the ground possibly a different size so it is easily noticeable. Also if you need to change or mend the wiring make sure you use the appropriate gauge wire, should be 6 gauge but check. Tape up the new conection and clean off battery and you should be ready to go.
  18. Sounds like a good trip anyways. Thanks for the report
  19. I didn't see it, hope to get a rerun of it.
  20. Congrats and all the best to you , mom and the new baby.
  21. Glad to see you got out, and anytime on the water is a great time.
  22. Yes you can put it inside the hull with reasonable ease. He will have to make sure that the unit he gets comes with a thru hull transducer and follow the install directions properly.. Alot of bass boats and others have the same set.
