Sashimi fresh? Love the videos TJ. Really educational to watch how fish attack.

What kind of lure were you using to test it? The smaller the lure, the harder it is to locate sometimes. That said your unit should have no issues detecting a jig at 100 feet. My 343C can see my double uni-knot at that depth. Did you mess around with the sonar sensitivities? Turn off the Noise Filters. If the bottom is weedy, you'll lose sight of the lure, but I suspect at those depths weeds are few and far between. Next time you're out try using the biggest lure you can, like a big Jigging Rap, that you know will go straight down. If you're using something like a Williams, it likes to swim way off into the distance and won't be visible until it centers itself back with the hole.

I have lots of Under Armor, great stuff but yes very pricey - $70 for long johns! Then I discovered Athletic Works, a line of Under Armor-like designed base layers sold at Walmart. Shirts, long johns are only $12; they even have full base layer suits. I have both the fleece and dri-fit base layers from Athletic Works. After countless trips on the ice and winter steelheading, I have to say it works just as well as my Under Armor. Both are 100% polyester, some with some spandex for stretch. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. They even have hoodies for $20 that are the exact thickness and 100% polyester just like the UA ones I have that cost $80. In terms of sweating, it's going to happen if you're lugging gear on foot. If I only wore boxers under my floatsuit I'd still be sweating on the 2km walks I do with nearly 100lbs of gear. I find taking a good pace, opening up the jacket and adding more layers later as the best way to combat sweating.

Beauty Eye and Muskie. Love that sunset shot. For me that really sums up what it's all about.

That would look great on the wall. Nice stuff Leechman. Do you have novelty hooks to add onto it?

All my plans went a bit haywire but still got out a couple of times.

Hey Limeyangler, Awesome video once again! Have you ever considered mounting your camera on a baseball cap to free up your hands? I use it all the time when fishing solo and the videos come out pretty good. And when you want to hold the camera, just grab the cap by the visor and continue filming or take some pictures. The only tricky part is starting the camera to record in the midst of a battle! But after a few practice runs, I got the procedure down pat with my Canon. Here's a video of the DIY hat cam just in case, people haven't see it before. -
It's also good practice when sending money to someone in a private sale to ask the seller to send you an invoice (something they can do in paypal). That way if you send money but never receive your goods you'll be covered. Trying to recoup money sent without an invoice showing what you sent the money for is much harder.

It's open down here except the water is still open as well! At least I have your great videos to tide me over till the deep freeze.

Love those vids as always. Can't wait till the Laker waters down here are ready.

Right click and "Save Target As" in IE or "Save Link as" in Firefox. Then save where you want. Open when complete.

I'm looking to upgrade to a point and shoot digital soon as well and found this resource extremely helpful in enlightening me with the differences between the many different waterproof cameras and what you can get for the price you pay. I'm particularly interested in capturing my adventures on video and the test for that is quite comprehensive. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209waterproofgroup/

That's what makes them good for the environment, Gulps are biodegradable! It happened to me too with an old pack of minnows.

Not sure where you live, but if you can drop by RadioWorld or a similar store you can play with both. In my experience they are both extremely similar and the biggest difference for me was the graphic styles. I found the 343C personally, more clear and defined especially when in the graph/RTS mode and ended up going with that. But that's just personal thing, and I'd be confident in both models.

It comes down to a personal choice between a dedicated flasher and a multi-feature LCD unit. A direct Humminbird comparison to the X67 would be the HB 343C for price and features.

Loving having my small butane stove for fresh cups of coffee, continental breakfast and sausages for lunch/dinner and even the occasional fresh fish fry.

Since ice fishing is just around the corner and I've been led to some great sales by other forum members, I wanted to give y'all a heads up that Canadian Tire has a decent sale on Nautilus Float Jacket and Float Suit. For those who don't know Helly Hansen owns Nautilus which is why this float suit is just like the HH Delta. Here's the links: Float Suit -$219.99 http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_...D=1260286008634 Float Jacket - $159.99 http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/5/Sp...ater%2BCoat.jsp For those who go, good luck finding one!

Rogers would never allow such a site to survive for long, so save your money for gear! I try to watch F1 on the internet and it is battle to say the least. Most stream and feeds get shut down because F1 management has a team that seeks out free feeds and shuts them done almost instantly. Only the very private ones survive a full broadcast.

All the best Spiel. I'll try and catch a big one for ya!

As Limeyangler said, I've also fished in minus 25 weather with my Humminbird 343C with no freezing problems and no lag, confirmed by instant hits as I've hooked numerous Lakers chasing or coasting along the bottom and slamming my lures. My finder also has a flasher mode, but I also prefer the graph with live vertical flasher on the side. Gives me the benefits of both devices and its nice to see past readings if a fish moves out of range. Its portability is also an added bonus for those who would like/need a finder for the boat, especially if you like to rent or can borrow a boat.

Love the videos. Thanks for the report!

For the price of the Ross, the Islander is a much better choice and a proven performer. Just google "Ross Flow Centerpin" go through the results and you can find a lot of reviews.

Beauties all around! Wish I had done more Steelhead fishing when I lived up on Superior. Thanks for sharing.

Great to hear Raven continues to stand behind its products. Kemper, how did you break your tip section, if you don't mind me asking?
-
Thanks Bill! Pictures don't even do that one justice, but I still got a long way to go before I start dropping the beauties you do. Don't remind me F1 is over, it's the longest off-season for any sport. I guess I'll just have to go fishing in the meantime Let's get out there soon. Singles eh? I'll try that next time out!

With all the great Steelhead reports lately, I wanted to share a few pictures of the ones I've been lucky enough to land over the last couple of weeks. The past week has been tough with the lack of rain, but I found switching up baits, even changing between different cures of Salmon roe, helped to trigger some much anticipated hits. A colourful fall Buck. Here's another angle. Yet another male. Been catching a lot of them lately. This was one of my larger catches. This one put up a great fight. He went for the sticks, but my leader held.
