  1. Hey guys, I'm wondering if you guys can refer me to some good ice hut outfitters on Scugog. I want to take my 3 friends new to fishing out and show them a good time. Thanks in advance!
  2. I'm in as well along with another OFC member. That said, neither of us have a hut or auger. So I'd like to ask if one needs to come with all that stuff to participate? Or will there be a rental facility near by.
  3. Press and Hold A when you get the prompt to do an action, then start to jerk the remote in the direction shown on the screen. When you get a direction correctly the chime will indicate to move on to the other directional actions. I had trouble at first as well, but i found you have to make a deliberate flick. So if it shows "down" flick your wrist down from the neutral position, rather than swinging your whole arm. If you just wave it, more often than not it won't register. Once you figure out how to flick it, just complete the sequence. If you miss one, its ok, just keep doing it until you get it, then move to next. The four hit combos give you decent time to get thru the sequence.
  4. I bought the TD Tierra, which is mechanically very similar to the TD Pro and the cheaper Exceler. I returned mine after the first full day of fishing and here's why. 1. After landing a really big fresh water drum, the spool started rubbing. That said it went away after another day of casting. 2. This is the real reason I returned it, the reel handle pin where the handle meets the shaft going into the body.. It slides out with constant use. I punched it back in and it still continued to make its way out. When you go to Bass Pro take a look at all three models, of all sizes on display and you'll see the pin sliding out. Luckily I caught mine the first time while it was still halfway in, but others I know have had it fall out. It would suck to have it fall out and into the lake. If you read BP reviews you'll find others with similiar issues. Overall the reel is very nicely finished, very smooth, but I felt for my Tierra which cost $150 after taxes I shouldn't have to worry about this pin falling out, or potentially having the spool rub after another big fish, so I got a Shimano Saros which has been flawless since.
  5. You guys were being modest when you said, "We caught a few." Some really nice Walleye there! It was good meeting you guys this weekend.
  6. I'd submit my application if didn't already book a trip to Quinte this Saturday a day before this generous offer. Hopefully there will be a next time.
  7. I've been fishing at Gore's Landing with minimal luck, and wondering if some members here could enlighten me with other decent shore fishing spots on Rice Lake with public access. Thanks guys. jet
  8. I was there most of sept. but got nothing. Haven't been since. Then again the salmon ran late this year. I heard there is a creek west of the rouge that is much more productive. A few weeks ago some friends were there hanging out, not fishing, and said they were jumping consistantly.
  9. Nice pics. I hope to get up there next weekend.
  10. Thanks guys for all the timely responses. Just got back from Ashbridge and indeed they are hitting the pivoted rattling raps and cleos. Now I hope my luck turns for the better! Cheers!
  11. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm going to head out Thursday and see if things change. I did get a hit last Thursday, but it spit the hook within 10 seconds which leads me to believe it was a half-hearted hit. But it is so weird that they are circling all in front of me two feet away, yet won't hit. Hopefully things are better this weekend!
  12. Hello fellow anglers. Has anyone fished for Salmon over the past week (from Oct. 6) at Ashbridge's Bay and if so what luck have you had? I ask because I was there all weekend fishing and did not get one hit, and not only myself but also the 6-plus other anglers left without a single hit. The fish however, were jumping all over the place, with some swirling literally within 5 feet, yet would not hit. Some people were using spoons but most had roe bags like myself. I find the lack of hits strange because before the weekend I was at the Humber and within 20 minutes 2 out of the 3 guys in my view landed 20+ pounders, yet at Ashbridge nothing was biting. Does anyone here have an idea/explanation for the lack of action? My guess is that it is still early for Salmon that spawn in the Bay habit because they have immediately reached their spawning grounds, unlike their river counterparts who must travel a good distance, and are just hanging around and will mark their territories within the next week and a half and then start hitting. But if anyone has been there or can shed some light as to why the Salmon aren't hitting at Ashbridge, it would be educational and much appreciated. -J
