  1. Get yourself a Mr. Heater Portable Buddy heater, runs on propane and has low oxygen and tip over shut off for safety. Buddy Heaters
  2. Check Reeds sporting goods. I bought a Marcum LX-5 last spring and they used Fedex and I didn't get hosed. Humming Bird Flashers are on sale too!!!! The 55 is $419.99 Reeds Sporting Goods
  3. I didn't need a permit when I stocked my pond in Grand Valley. It was also not connected to any waterway. I didn't need to aerate it due to the fact that we had a water to water heat pump doing HVAC duty in the house. It would pump 7 gallons a minute from our well through the heatpump (strip the heat or cool out of the water depending on season) and into the pond. This was plenty to keep enough oxygen in the pond and also keep it cool enough all summer long for trout to survive. I also stocked minnows as forage and pellet fed them. In 2 years they grew from 12" to almost 5 pounds!!! The only problem is the darned things got smarter and smarter each time they were caught.
  4. I was in Ontario for the Christmas break and rented from Enterprise, unlimited mileage if I stayed within Ontario. I racked up nearly 3000 kms over the 2 weeks I was there. Not sure about the under 25 thing, give them a call. Certain credit cards cover your insurance if you don't have coverage through your carrier.
  5. If you want it for leaders make sure you by the leader material. There is a big difference between a flouro line and a flouro leader. The line is not as tough as the leader material and the line is also formulated tobe more castable (softer, less memory). If you see a spool of Berkley Vanish back away slowly until you are 15 or 20 feet away then turn and run, run like the wind!!!!!
  6. He will give you a hard time so just let the Labour Board sort it out. A similar thing happened to me in 2000. It took 6 months but I got thousands in separation pay, vacation etc. out of the ass!!! I love it when someone thinks they're screwing you over only to be beaten down by the government and made to look the fool. The best thing that came of it was going back to school and getting a better job.
  7. Right next to the BBQ lighters and bulk Redbird strike anywhere matches!!!
  8. A friend of mine has a cottage in Sturgeon Falls and once called the ministry about an illegal net that was placed in front of his cottage. The ministry was going to give him the use of an IR video camera to gather evidence so that they could lay charges. Before he even got the camera from the ministry he was warned by some natives that it would not be a good idea and there might be repecussions involving his property and threats of a fire. He dropped the idea of gathering the evidence. The fishing has gone down hill in his area over the last 10 years. He also told me about meetings that the chief was involved in, and that the chief wanted to curtail netting to let the fishery recover. All were in agreement except the younger 20 somethings that continue to net illegally. It's sad as we used to be able to troll worm harnesses right out in front of his place and catch and release limit after limit of good eating sized eyes. Those days are gone unless things change sadly.
  9. MJL It's a Sage Z-Axis 7136-4 blank. 7 wt 13 1/2' that I will be building as a float rod.
  10. I would like to see mcguinty hit with a pie machine gun!!!!
  11. You're right, until the UPS guys deliver to the wrong place.
  12. You can check with marinas and upholstry shops about getting the work done. Not sure what your console looks like, but if the guage pod is removable it can be recovered. If I was still down there I could probably do it for you. I redid the helm on my boat a couple of years ago as it was looking pretty tired. It was an easy job as it was flat and I didn't have to work the vynil into any recesses, but it is not that much more difficult to do. I removed the woodgrain coloured plastic that was original to the boat and replaced it with aluminum covered with marine grade vinyl. I also replaced wood that was holding the helm in place with aluminum to strengthen things up. Here's a few pics of the work. The Old And the New Good luck with your project.
  13. So I ordered a Sage spey blank from Cabelas a couple of weeks ago as they had them in the bargain cave for 25% off. The only shipping method allowed was international air at $44.95 which they send UPS. At least with Cabelas you know all the charges up front and know you won't be boned by UPS when your package arrives. Well when my package hadn't arrived by Friday of last week I call up Cabelas and ask what's up with my order. They look it up in the system and say it was delivered on Wednesday and so & so signed for it at such & such address. I tell her well that's not me and not my address. She tells me that yeah it was supposed to go to my address. She tells me that she can send me another blank, I tell her that's fine but I bet you don't have any. I was right. So she is recalling the order which takes up to a week, hopefully. Once the blank is back in Sydney Nebraska it will be re-sent to me. What a deal!!!!! I pay $44.95 for shipping and it could take a month to get my parcel from those UPS Losers that can't even deliver to the right address. What really burns me is if for some reason they don't get it back I will still be out $300 for the components I ordered for this build from other vendors. Thanks again UPS!!!!!!! Rant Over We now return you to your regularly scheduled posts.
  14. ..Doesn't work unless you create an account.
  15. Yeah, I don't think I would get the toilet either. I would rather have the space for storage. You can definately tie a canoe on top but as said just use one of the foam canoe carriers so as not to damage the roof. A couple of cam buckle tie downs on each enad and your good to go. They are super fast and work well. I tied my canoe down on a 4X8 box trailer when moving and had no problems with the tie downs at all along my 5500KM trip. Cam Buckle Tie Downs
  16. Rain? The closest I have come to rain since October is -9C. I expect to see some in May.
  17. I caught a Laker that size once.
  18. Best bet is to get a filter for the line too. Ig goes between the heater and hose to prevent any debris from entering the heater as some of the hoses can break down over time. The debris will pooch your heater in a hurry. Fuel Filter Link
  19. I'm also looking to buy holefully in the spring. You are correct about the price of used trailers, they hold their value quite well. I'm looking at the trailers made by Rockwood as they seem to be well built and have lots of options and creature comforts. I have a buddy that has one of those A frame hard pop ups and again you are right about cost as they are as expensive as a small hard side trailer. I saw a 2010 model for sale in Edmonton at just over $15K. Most of the pop ups I have seen used that are 10 years old or less start at about $4500. I haven't looked into new pricing but I believe they start at about $10K and go up to about $17K. Keep looking at craigs list and kijiji as there are some times decent deals to be had.
  20. Yep!! No, he would be hauled in as a suspected pedophile.
  21. The South is a nice place to visit, but I sure don't want to live there ever again. Especially in a province the inhabitants keep electing that putz McSquinty!!!!! I get to spend a whole month each fall chasing bows and dollies in Alaska and I like it.
