  1. No peeking before it's ready. Won't be done until my 4000-12000 grit sandpaper shows up later this week.
  2. Seat, handle and butt cap were all turned by me. They are cocobolo and finished with Tru-Oil gun stock finish. I'm currently making a butt cap and winding check for Mike aka Solopaddler that is finished with CA (superglue) If you want to learn about finishing with CA just google "pen turning" or "ca wood finish". This is true. I wnet from cheapie blanks while learning and my newest blank is a Sage 7136-4 Spey blank that I'm tying as a float rod. Complete with fugi titanium sic guides, strubel nickle silver skeleton seat, $60 worth of high end cork and some spendy died and stabilized big leaf maple burl. Cost of all components about $600!!!!
  3. This book is a great place to start: Rod Building Guide And a great forum for info: Rodbuilding.org I started 3 years ago and have progressed nicely. My first build: And my latest:
  4. Shifter should be held on with 2 or 3 bolts. Reach in behind the gunnel and you should be able to get at them. As for the helm, this is what I did with the helm on my Fisher SV-18 GT. Before After The Bow panel is for the trolling motor and there may be an outboard tilt switch there.
  5. Nah, she wasn't robbed. It was very close, they were equal in their turns but the Hannah had better jumps. It is a bummer though. I think we were all expecting Canada's first ever Gold at home.
  6. Jenn Heil just got Canada's first medal in the women's moguls!!!!
  7. Shouldn't happen here. The right to fish and hunt is written into the constitution.
  8. The style in which the Anthem was sung was dictated by the producers not theperformer. They had her on this morning and the commentator commented about the R&B twist and she said she performed it the way she was asked and said she is just a performer doing what the director and producer wanted for the show. I agree that I would have rather heard a more traditional version but her version wasn't bad, just different. She does have a heck of a voice. I also agree about the operatic singing of the olympic hym. Not a fan of opera at all.
  9. Sad to say that if you live in Ontario that is the case, but out West and in the North it is a totally different scenario.
  10. I have to give props to the 2010 Olympic Organizing Committee, the producers, performers and technical crew for the job they have done on the opening ceremony tonight. It was absolutely world class and the lighting and visual effects were among the best in the world, absolutely stunning. The performances were flawless and have shown the world what being Canadian is all about. Here's to the next 16 days. GO CANADA!!!!!!!!
  11. Or you can make your own. Not mine and not a speed demon but it's pretty cool!!!!
  12. Sorry man no steak, it's Tex Mex BBQ'd Alaskan Halibut and veggies fer dinner tonight. You still got yer row boat?
  13. Dude, you're totally whipped!!!!! Joanne says you got to sell it so out it goes!!!
  14. Can't really complain, except for the raping and gouging done by those UPS scumbags!!!!
  15. Yep, lots of options. Motors 7HP Snowblower engine $349.99 7HP Engine
  16. Right, extra bolts/nuts and Loc-Tight all the bolts on the thing before hand. I'll replace all thier nylocks with good ones I have from my manufacturing days. Got it!!!!
  17. Not too bad. You get a fully auto unit for about the same price as a manual unit on sale. Still UPS should be taken out and flogged!!!!!
  18. You can also make your own strecher poles from 1/2" electrical condiut and some of these. Quick Connects Quick Connects - Includes (Qty 6, 7/8" X 7/8") p/n 102113 You can probably find them cheaper elsewhere (ie. hardware store) with a piece of 1/2" and a piece of 3/4" plus a 3/4" quick connect and a spring button pin you can make an adjustable strecher pole for the front.
  19. How were the nuts and bolts lost? Mine are all nylock nuts. Did the bolts snap? Should I take spares on my epic journey next month?
  20. Was that for one vest? Even with those ignorant fees it's still 1/2 price or less.
  21. You can build a frame and mount seats or a bench to it. It all depends how handy you are. PS. Next month they will have that Adventurer on sale for $200 when they have their end of season sale. So you can fork out $200 and figure out your own seat setup.
  22. The Adventurer is the made for places like Canadian Tire and has no stretcher poles and the seats are triangular camp type seats. The rest is the same. The Adventurer is not even on Frabills site and there is no manual available on their site.
  23. No bar on mine. It doesn't even show it on the parts diagram. Easy enough fix though. For the price it's a good deal I think. I would really like the R2-TEC but have other things to spend $1200 on right now.
  24. I have a Trekker II and it's maiden voyage was last weekend. I like most everything about it. However being a big man I find that the seating setup is a little flimsy. Not the seats, but how they are attached to the sled. There is an easy fix for this that I'm going to do this week. The seats hook over the side of the sled but the sled being plastic has some flex and I find the seat wobbly. Under the lip of the sled where the seats hook I'm going to bolt in a 1"X1"X5' aluminum tube. It will bolt on using 4 bolts from the two corner brackets that hold the hoops the tent is attached to and one bolt in the center of the span. This will really stiffen up the edge of the sled and provide a good solid place for the front of the seat to hook to. It is pretty light and in higher winds you need some weight in the sled or anchors. I had to put my auger in the sled to keep it anchored even though it was attached to my snowmobile. I made my own hitch from 3/4" electrical conduit and carabiner clips. Here's a couple of shots of it from last weekend. The wind was gusting to 40k, you can see how it is pushing against the back of the hut.
