  2. can you believe this guy is a repeat offender and gets a slap on the hand Mar 28, 2007 By John Slykhuis, Staff Writer More from this author An Oshawa man has been fined $1,000 after taking a walleye and a whitefish from Lake Simcoe after the season was closed. Constantine Sokolowski, 58, pleaded guilty and has his fishing licence suspended for six months. Sokolowski is a repeat offender, according to a Ministry of Natural Resources press release. Court heard that on March 23, 2006, during a routine inspection of a group's catch of yellow perch, Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers found a large female walleye and a whitefish hidden in a box on their van. The season for walleye and whitefish had been closed since March 15. Mr. Sokolowski admitted the illegal fish were his. Whitefish, lake trout and walleye season all end each year on March 15 to coincide with the removal of fish huts from Lake Simoce. Perch can be fished all year round. Justice of the Peace Philip N. Soloman heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa Thursday. The ministry reminds you closed fishing seasons are designed to protect fish populations in Lake Simcoe during vulnerable periods, such as spawning. To report a natural resources violation, call 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) toll-free any time or contact your local ministry office during regular business hours. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
  3. the sump does seem to be the simple easy way to do it and if surface water ever becomes a problem some rainy day, it will clear up that problem too I solve a moisture problem in a crawl space in a house by just spreading plastic on the ground and putting some rocks on it to hold it down
  4. but beaverton looks pretty good for perch and I heard they are doing well for them we could drag out my folding boat if the ice gets too thin
  5. it really is going to hell in a hand basket
  6. if you buy an auto PFD you must wear it all the time while you are in the boat or it is not considered a PFD or have an extra regular one in the boat and again, if no T P Canada approved, it doesn't count as a PFD
  7. just remember guys, only one am each day is going to fish with JPD, Dave Mercer, David Chong , Mark Kulik and Simon Frost...there are a lot of guys that will not do very well.... over 25 years ago I went in as an Am.. just to see how the other guys were fishing....... first day the guy couldn't find any fish and where he was fishing I didn't expect to catch any...finally I told him of a spot and we both got our limits..... second day I was with someone who was skunked the first day and thought he would just do a milk run looking for fish....a nice day fishing but I didn't learn anything, I catch the only 2 fish third day I thought I was in good...the guy was a well known tourney guy....he tells me his fish didn't turn on the first 2 days so he wasn't about to make the long run and waste gas..so he idled away from the blast off spot and we fished rip rap all day and never lost sight of the weigh in site....I did learn how to sling shot the line to make the snagged jig pop out from under a rock..but that was it..and I was disappointed with the tourney... my friend ended up with 2 of 3 good fishermen and thought it was great............. so it may or may not be what you were expecting...

    Hi All

  9. many towns have strange laws..I had a real problem with squirrels..yeah tree rats..I couldn't shoot them. if I trapped them I couldn't take them very far..I couldn't poison them..some other animal could eat it....but you can poison animals/rodents if they get in your home so I put enough poison ( the type that dehydrates them and they go outside looking for water) in my attic to kill 10 elephants....it cut the tree rat population by about 80%.....now that's selective harvest I should cut down all the black walnut trees down around my house , so the tree rats will leave for good
