very nice report, its always nice to get away for a few days with nothing to worry about but the fish biting. jason -
i like wrapping a fillet in foil with butter and some lemon pepper seasoning. good on the grill or in the oven. or just use some cajun fish fry mix and deep fry it into chunks. very delicious either way. i would use an 8 lber or less though to eat. jason

a little tip for the chicken liver, is to tie it up in a piece of panty hose, or like a roe bag. it helps hold it on your hook and still lets the scent go out so the fish will find it. best of luck, big cats can be big time fun. jason

lots a fellas do it here in southern ohio too, but i agree with dawg on this. it ticks me off to see all those big ol gals pulled out of the system. the big ones dont taste as good anyway. plus i kinda like my fingers the way they are and not snacks for the snapping turtles. jason

ive never had any real problems crossing the border at detroit/windsor, usually its just the usual questions like where ya going, how long will you be staying, etc...... last year i had a compound bow that was for a buddy in haliburton, that got a little attention from the border gaurd since he didnt know what it was. they sent me over for a quick search and explanation and the officers were very friendly and quickly went through the suv. and we were on our way. not to hijack this thread, but i also read recently that they have backed the passport issue to june 1, 2009 for land and sea travel into canada if coming from the u.s. all you still need is a birth certificate and driver liscence to enter and return from the states. jason

hi folks, Getting ready for my big trip north, figured i better get my other motor out and run it a bit. Before i stored last fall, i did all the usual. got her out today put her in the tank and let her run for a while, started ok, a little rough, but then took off real nice, tried at all different idle speeds and was good, then i noticed that the water had quit spraying when i had it idled down real low. revved her up and then she started spraying for a while and then stopped again. took it out of the tank and could see bits of rubber at the vent screen. crap the old impeller has blown up on me. not being to mechanically inclined i start looking for somebody to work on it, after about 4 calls i get a guy and after i told him what was wrong, his first comment was "you didnt run it in a tank did ya?" of course i said yes and he goes on to tell me he fixes more water pumps from people running them in tanks than anything else. he said that the air bubbles the motor puts out is about the same as running one dry. I had never heard this before, i always thought it was safe to use a tank or barrel to run a motor. Anyway i got to learn a little something today, not sure how much it will cost me yet, hopefully not too much, its only a 4 hp merc. So the moral to the story is Dont run your motor for very long in a tank. buy the muffs or put it on a boat in water. jason

great report tj, glad to see the fishing is picking up there. i can only imagine how bad the skeeters are there. they are bad enough on a dry year. are the black flies still going strong or heading the other way? my crappy dial up wont let me see the big pike, but i have a good imagination. the camp looks great. glad ya got into a ton of fish and some great family time. jason

congrats, thats way better than a fishing report !! best of luck with your future fishing partner. jason

best of luck to ya, hope ya have a great time. jason

are you looking for a new or used? i would say there are some pretty good deals now on used boats. with the high cost of gas and rising food costs, there will probably be some pretty good outfits going up for sale. just remember to check out several models and make sure you get exactly what your looking for. jason

with my slow dial up i cant see the video, but i think i know the way that they are showing. i have also done a method where you scale the pike, then cut off the 2 fillets, take out the rib cage and then make a series of cuts about 1/16 inch apart down to the skin, but not through the skin. then just cut into portion size pieces and batter and fry skin side up. all the bones will disolve in the hot oil. it works amazingly well especially for small pike with small bones. has anyone else ever tried it this way, what your take on doing it like that? jason
