hey folks, i had a snow day from school today and seen a coyote out from our house this morning and tried to snap a couple of pictures with our new camera, its nothing real special just a kodak 8mp c875 easy share. the pics are ok, but im open to any suggestions that might make them better in the future. after the coyote that got me in the mood to take some more so while i was feeding hay to the cows i took the camera with me and was lucky enough to spot some whitetail deer. they again were pretty far away and i had to use the maximum zoom which i think hurt the pic quality, but they turned out ok the other 2 are just of a small creek that runs through our farm and some ice on a rocky cliff. hope you can make out the wildlife, im just a very new rookie to this kind of thing lol. thanks for looking. jason

im with daplumma on this one as far as the deer. i used to make it from the slices of meat, and this year i went the easy way and ground it all into burger. i bought one of those little caulk gun deals at wal-mart(jerky works) bought the season packets at bass pro for about 4 dollars/4 lbs and then add some pepper corns and a little coors light to mix in with the season packets. its a whole lot faster and i think its easier to eat than the sliced strips. you dont have to marinate over night or anything, just mix and paste out on the dehydrator sheet. i used to cut thin slices and marinate i always used soy souce moores steak marinade hot sauce a dash of liquid smoke coors light( what we didnt drink while slicing) salt pepper corns or montreal seasoning marinate in freezer bag over night and put on the tray the next day. jason

your absolutely right corey! he was doing good just to lift it though, its an old browing sweet 16 pretty heavy for the little guy. it was unloaded and the safety was on. But i know you can never be to careful. jason

Thanks guys, he is really into it, i hope he continues to stay interested as he gets older. he also isnt a bit squimish about the dirty part of it either, he helped hold the legs during field dressing and was ready to eat a venison steak that night. he's quite the game eater. jason

This is a late deer report, i was hoping to make it a little better with muzzle loading season, but never got to go out again. this is the buck i took opening day, i also took a doe with a shattered lower front leg (kind of a mercy killing) late in the week. the buck was a small racked 8 point, so your probably thinking that this guy must be a bad hunter, or doesnt get out much, if this was the best hunting year ever. But this was also the first year i could take my stepson ethan with me. he just turned 5 in november and is an outdoor nut. he loves fishing and deer hunting, and i have been lucky enough to help guide him through some of his first outdoor activities. he caught is 1st "little mouth bass" this past summer, as well as a catfish, drum and sucker. this year of gun season he was so excited about going out with me, and i took him to my hunting blind opening afternoon, it was real slow, we didnt see anything for about 4 straight hours, so you can imagine he was getting a little bored, then all of the sudden i seen this little buck comming through the brush. Ethan's eyes were as big as basketballs, and he kept saying shoot it, shoot it. i wouldnt have took a deer this young normally, but i figured this would be as good a chance to get one with him with me as i would get so i let it have it at about 30 yds. when i shot, i jumped out of the front of the blind, and E came out the side yelling big buck, big buck. he was so proud of this deer and couldnt wait to tell papaw and mommy all about the hunt. There is really nothing better than spending time with the young ones in the outdoors. i hope this wasnt too long for you all, but it is a special memory for me and him. jason P.S. He is pumped about his 1st ontario fishing trip, we may try to make the g2g in june. thats all he's talked about the past 2 days. Will there be any other smaller children there this year?

hi folks, my name is jason, i live in southern ohio, right on the ohio river. my screen name is oxcowboy, the ox is for my college fraternity, and the cowboy is because i work cattle, groom show cattle and farm. i am a school teacher and coach as my profession. i usually only get to go to ontario for about 10 days each year, but love every minute that i get to spend there. i have been going to the elk lake area for about 15 years now, its as close to heaven than i want to be for several more years. lol i fish for bass and catfish around home, and target northerns, small mouth and walleye when i head north. besides fishing, i also enjoy hunting and basically anything to do with the outdoors. im still trying to talk my fiance into going to this years g2g at lakair, so say a prayer for me, she's not much into the outdoor scene yet.

i agree about the short tracks, i say finish it up at bristol, now thats a battle ground! that way there wouldnt be any coasting through the field. it was a good season, wish jr. had done a little better, but his day will come, and at least he still beat jeffy boy. jason

great of you to offer up the boat, i dont need it, but it would make a greater starter boat for someone who is just getting into the sport, or someone on a tight budget. very nice of you. jason

this is a nice buck an amish man took opening day of bow season. the deer was killed about 10 miles from my farm. it should be #2 all time in ohio after it dries. the only kicker is due to his religion hes not allowed to market the rack, or be photographed with it. jason

good job, nothing better than the tenderloins. cant wait till our season opens next week in southern ohio!

by far the best game of the season, it lived up to all of the hype. i agree that the team up north should get a rematch, but i dont think the powers that be will allow it for some crazy reason. ohio state should have alot easier game for the championship. Go Bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
