  1. Here I sit looking out my window watching these lake effect squalls rolling in off L Ontario this morning.
  2. Because she holds the leash
  3. In the flower industry we had a 3 month rush for Easter and spring. The norm was 80-100 hr work weeks. It was taxing and stressful. It had health consequences. I had my MI right after I finished my last shift of that season. We put up with those long hours because they more than made up for the slow weeks when it was hard to rack up 30 hrs.
  4. Sturgeon, as in England, only the Crown may harvest them. A few years back an angler made a rare catch in a river and representatives of the royal household quickly visited the gentleman to claim his fish. Whales are also royal fish, although in fact mammals. Just as swans are the exclusive property of the Crown
  5. The market never closes. There are 2 buildings of year round vendors. The various butchers in the area are first rate. Stemmlers meats used to be at the market but have since opened their own place not far from the market. Even Dutchies has opened a permanent store last year ( getting tired of standing out in the cold winter air). It can take the better part of a day to browse the market. Just make surer you stop and say Hi. I.m in the main aisle outdoors.
  6. It sure is. Nice slab
  7. Depends on time of year. At this time of year, the market isn't much. The farmers, self included, all start showing up by late May. The market on Saturday is an experience itself. There is a restored old train that runs from downtown Kitchener through to the village of St Jakobs. Lots of specialty shops, antiques, etc.. FOOD!!! The rivers are lined with parkland everywhere. I've done a bit of smallie fishing down there. Best restaurant, hands down, is in a sleepy village 20 minutes west of St Jakobs. AnnaMays. Parking lot is always full and always a waiting list
  8. Let me remove that from your mind.
  9. At least a pleasant temporary cure.
  10. Here is the cure to what ails ya.
  11. Bayfront was open water.
  12. Too nice to sit indoors. Besides I was going cross-eyed making baits. So I grabbed my bag and some salties and spent the afternoon chasing panfish til dark. Nice mix of just about everything today. And a fitting reward after a good day's fisking.
  13. 10 tickets out of some 100,000 is pretty slim odds, even after 20 years. I'm still buying Then again I've been buying lottery tickets since the very first with the $10 Olympic Lottery and the $5 books of Wintario tickets.
  14. Why should we subsidize corporate entertainment? Cut the tax credit.
  15. Even though it's only 15 minutes from the house, I will probably give it as much attention, or less, as BPS, and they only get 2 visits a year.
  16. Talk to Spiel. He produces a nice pannie rod.
  17. Would you believe Alan Parker. This according to John Paul jones who also played on the set. For years the official biography of Led Zeppelin placed Jimmy Page as the guitarist. Page did do other session work on the album.
  18. A Taff I knew who absolutly loathed cockneys, called them cockers. Us colonials also didn't like being called "wogs"
  19. You could use one of those swim ladders you justy hang over the side of the boat. May only be 3 rungs, but it halves your drop to the ground.
  20. There is no such thing as an English accent. There are cockers, scousers, taffs, micks, geordies, etc.....
  21. Rapala should be pronounced rrrrapala. In Finnish the R's are rolled and the vowels are not silent.
  22. That is the original show run by local businesses. I'll be going there.
  23. There is a lot of waterfront for you to start combing. Should take you a good 2 months of weekends staring at the mouth of the Rouge and working west to Etobicoke creek. Amazing what you will find if you keep an open mind and have more than one game plan.
