After having a decent sleep, I can now post a report. Made another run up to lady S yesterday. We stay away from the crowds in the bay, and walked out to 27' of water before we se up shop. First. the weatherman screwed up again. So much for light snow and diminishing winds. My son finally decided to join me on the ice (YEaaah!!!) and brought a friend who had never been on ice before. Needless to say Rob and the noob got to stay in the hut while the old geezer stayed out in the wind. I would not have minded except for one small problem. The new longjohns wifey got me for Christmas would not stay up and the wind gave me a chill in the small of the back. We had a fairly steady bite, but not the fast paced action of last week. I know I caught over 100 fish and kept a few 9-11" fish. The boys were having a blast in the hut, and caught a few more than me. Again, no live bait required. Buckshots, raps, the Bug, tipped with various plastics were what we fed the perch, and a dead stick tipped with salties in hopes of a pike, but it kept getting whacked by perch. Jr. You can tell he forgot to get any sleep the night before His buddy Rob almost found hiw way into open water, Again, but his bud was paying attention. I forgot how much noobs get spooked on the ice and forgot to tell him about ice noises Seems he kept jumping out of his seat The drive home was mostly good. A little flurry in TO, then clear skies until we hit Oakville. By the time we crossed the skyway it was coming down heavy. No prob for me, but most of the muttonheads don't know how to drive in the stuff. We all know what happens when you have sports cars doing 150 and meeting vehicles doing 60 in snow Was fun watching the 2 of them clean fish. Rob's out of practice and Matt never has. At least he did pretty good at skinning the fillets. I made sure I did mine first.

Despite the wind storm, sounds like fun. I'll have to try and get up there next time.

A great day on the ice with my son

Glad to hear you and your son had some quality time together. Surprisingly I was doing the exact same thing with Jr. and one of his friends -
Those are some nice fish.

Try the cardiac special. Also known as a Meatlover. They used to order this thing in at the warehouse on OT shifts. Toppings of bacon pepperonis, sausage, diced chicken and ground meat. A 1 inch layer of meat topped with melted cheese. Too much for me Ham, pineapple, hot peppers for me.

Was in Barrie all day, just a couple of flurries on the way up, aand drizzle all day. Beyond the drizzle and wind, the drive home to Grimsby was a sleeper. Only turned the cruise off on the skyway.

HT makes a lightweight backpack style flip hut for 1 or 2 persons. Initial convenience is offset by poor quality materials. Hinge pins snap easy. Stitching often has to be mended. I moved to a clam style. Allows me to haul all in one.

Karma... it is a three way street correct?

WTG girl. -
Sadly, we created a disposable world of conveniences. I pick up after folks every day during my daily walks. There is so much that I can only focus on the recyclables of beer empties, pop cans, polybottles. Even then I have caught flak for putting much of it in our apartment bins.

Mine are usually too beat up after fishing a few hours to save for another day.

He wants to skew the results in his favour, businesses do it all the time. Fishing shows are still businesses hungry for advertising dollars.

Roots in my drain line Half way to the road
bigugli replied to davey buoy's topic in General Discussion
Easiest measure of where the municpality covers the cost... the water box. That steel disc in the ground is the municipal valve to the water supply. Everything between the box and the house is at your expense. -
what song are you listening to right now???

Jes fer you Brian Taint heard this in years. -
Roots in my drain line Half way to the road
bigugli replied to davey buoy's topic in General Discussion
In the end, you will either have to replace the drain or remove the tree. Another short term solution is to cut a trench parallel to the drain and sever the invading roots. It kills those roots already affecting the drain and buys you a few years breathing space before resorting to a more permanent and expensive solution. -
Nothing like a wee scrap of red wool. Quick lift and shake.

I know full well enough about living in any city, let alone 2 blocks away from the steel mill. I try not to visit Hamilton too often.

Hardcore is handjigging 6-700 smelt, then cleaning em. We just never learn

No offshore produce for this household. Having done crop assessment and PDM, I know what they spray on the food.

We have a winner!!! After Ford's budget battle, every municipal service is being pushed to tighten belts and drum up revenue. It's the way the system works.

With the questions skewed towards a specific style of response, good possibility, some sponsor is looking for the best bang for the buck.

Had been out on Cooks Bay on Sunday with a friend. What a hoot. With the exception of some idiot busting the ice with his wheels, we had a stellar day. It was a non stop bite from sunup to sundown. Lots of dinks with a 1 to 5 ratio for keepers. Man the keepers are getting fat. Too much action for 2 lines, besides the dead stick produced nothing. Rattle jigs were the dinner bell. Tipped with an Arkansas minnow it was deadly. Come late afternoon, the perch started to get finicky so I started alternating to different presentations of teardrops with Berkely maggots or salties, then back to a buckshot. Had one bruiser of a pike cruise past the mouth of my hole, not interested in my wee offerings. There were some herring as well. One came up the hole to visit, and was sent back. I only took one pic while on the ice, after that the camera kinda got buried in the gear. No problem bringing home a few quality meals. For those complaining about the lack of dinner plate shots lately, I present the breakfast of champions Home fries, a mess of perch, and a corn fritter. All washed down with a steaming hot mug of coffee and brandy
