  1. Stop by at the Hamilton swap and say hello, me bye.
  2. Anyone heading to the Bassmaster's tackle swap on Saturday? Hope to see a few local faces and some new ones there.
  3. Real gardeners don't wear gloves, but some have been known to prance around their gardens in the buff
  4. I would start your seed indoors now for best results, then transplant out at 2nd or 3rd leaf (appx 5") As for thyme and rosemary, real slow growers. I would have started seed indoors last fall, you might want to consider buying starter plants. They also don't care for hard, cold winters. Our annual herb plants for market (May 24) are already 1-2" out of soil. First of the tomato plants at 5". All in greenhouse. If insisting on outdoor seeding, look up the appx last date for frost in your area, and plant after that.
  5. What a precious little child. Congratulations.
  6. They are a lot more widespread than the MNR wants to admit.
  7. The IGFA record is 3lb 7oz caught in Sweden. It probably is a record for Ontario, but I don't think the OFAH will be keen to post it on the records list.
  8. Until the government says otherwise, I always "execute" due diligence. This one will be a new species for my friend, Bill, to play with. Taxidermy is one of his hobbies when not fishing.
  9. Today, the big box store, and many custom kitchen companies are using the same materials. The big box units are prefab, as opposed to taiored, but they all rely, for the most part on chipboard. Ther are not that many companies doing solid wood cabinets unless you have money to burn. If you can, avoid the laminate counter surfaces. They really are junk.
  10. The bests days are always due to the quality of company we keep. Sounds like a great weekend.
  11. I'll take 11 so far, and McQueen don't count as a real man.
  12. I thought that was what kids were for?
  13. No limit in Ontario. Although I am old enough to remember the days of the $1.00 smelting license way back when CO's would actually come out and measure everyone's nets.
  14. I have caught a number of Rudd in the niagara and Welland rivers the past couple of years. Nothing spectacular, 8-10", all quickly despatched in due diligence. Today's specimen is a clear indication that the species is here to stay in the Great lakes. She weighed in at 2.71lbs.
  15. Might attack the smelt one more time. I have a few poor relations on the board that need feedin
  16. The smelt and shiners are running together at the moment. many of the smelt I cleaned had fresh shiner down the throat.
  17. Yep, smelt was on the menu here as well. Casey had his feed, and a few left over for a snack tomorrow. That might just be a plan.
  18. Finally got out for some smelt. It really stunk not beeing able to jig the smelt on ice this year. I more than made up for it last night. . We averaged 20-50 smelt with each dip of the net. Not huge numbers, but enough to fill the big roast pan twice. I just finished cleaning them all. Now to clean up the disaster in the kitchen.
  19. The ship is sinking, and everybody else is to blame but Burke. What a joke. Must be prepping himself for a career in politics.
  20. Sometimes you just gotta have some me time. The quiet to relax, settle down, and sort things out in your head. Don't hurt that there was a good bite on. Helps toyou forget the troubles, for a few moments anyways. BTW, some right nice walters you got there.
  21. That's one of the surprises inherent in fishing. You target one species and wind up catching another. Fish only know they are hungry and the bait looks good. They don't read the regs. 2 years back the son is fishing worms on a float for perch. Hooks a big ski. He was also there for the perch. Enjoy the fluke.
  22. Likes I said before, You can't teach a lubber nuttin.
