  1. I'll stick to my wooden wonders
  2. Not so much hate as jealousy. As for Dave, he's so far north, a warm intimate evening involves cuddling with his sled dogs
  3. This is a major reason why I gave up hunting 25 years back. "Hunters" shooting at anything that moves.
  4. Second one??? I only got one left
  5. GBW may want popcorn, but I'll stick to a little pie. Fresh outta the oven
  6. A person's rights should be forfeit the moment they violate the rights of others. The other way to see it is simple. Rights must be balanced with responsibilities. Failure to meet one's responsibility should be met with a suitable loss of rights. Sadly, his kind of vermin never receive the appropriate punishment.
  7. During the postwar occupation, a lot of bartering went on between Canadian soldiers and the German populace. A lot of nazi contraband, weapons, souvenirs made there way back to Canada. Medals, daggers and lugers were the most popular. One family member, a stamp collector, obtained vast stockpiles of nazi postage in return for various military items, like food, clothing, medicine. One Canadian MO brought back hundreds of original pieces of Hummel figurines in return for off duty medical care.
  8. For those that fish the area, time to pressure mayor and council. I've just sent my letter of displeasure.
  9. Chimney should be scrubbed from top on down. The sweep failed to inspect the full chimney, cap and shields, which should cost him his certificate should you report him. Many insurance policies require annual inspections and cleaning, or your insurance is null and void. My old house was heated primarily with wood. I only once had a problem. I had a "certified" hack do a poor job of a cleaning/inspection and had a chimney fire. I got nothing but grief from the insurance as we had misplaced the receipt. The only reason they finally paid out was an affadavit from the fire department inspector who referred the the sweep who did the work.
  10. Red may have been souped a lot of the time, but he was great to watch and listen to.
  11. Freshly caught, and soon to be released, to a dinner plate near you
  12. It's not Casey's fault that Mom leaves the tissues where he can get them . So I don't get angry with him. He is a character.
  13. When we leave him be in the house he is usually pretty good. Except when... Mom leaves her nose tissues lying around. Came home to this. Seems he dug all the used ones out of the waste basket, then he emptied out the new ones in the box. At least he is not as bad as Peanut. She used to dig into the dirty clothes basket and chew holes through the ladies underwear.
  14. The Mrs is chowing down. Meez is being a good boy
  15. Simply stop watching Blobbal, and their affiliates, and send them a letter explaining why. Most of their programming is worthless anyway.
  16. They already had a major interest in Lucasfilms. Only makes sense to buy it up.
  17. Happens to me at least once every fall. The big girls want a big meal.
  18. As long as the walleye are biting, it's all good. I've gone and done the same thing in past years, and was well rewarded. Those are some nice walleye for the table.
  19. Truth is there are far too many yahoos fishing the "tribs" in southern Ontario. You want to see just how bad? Just going hurrying along the river bank, muttering to all that you pass, 'the CO's just showed up'. Amazing to see how many pack up and scurry away. There is no effective enforcement beyond token appearances. Adding another layer of restrictions and regulations will not change a thing.
  20. To say "no kill" is the same as banning fishing for a species. There is no possible way for one to guarantee a released fish survives the stress and exhaustion from the fight.
  21. Sounds like a positive path to take. Good luck at the new job.
