  1. sharp, clear pictures, looking at them makes you feel as if you are there
  2. it felt like summer this afternoon, I read in the paper today, Scandanavia is warm and without snow, they are complaining about no snow for skiing I remember one year in the late 80's, it was this weekend (last in Nov) and we were snowmobiling on 8 inches of clear ice and a foot of powder snow on a smaller lake (Haliburton County), weather is variable but I think we are feeling some of the affects of global warming
  3. that's cool Dr Salvelinus that's exactly the lesser known type of outfitters we want to check out thanks
  4. Dad, brother, cousin and myself do a yearly fly-in fishing trip. We like to hit a new place every year. I know there's alot of small operation outfitters out there, maybe a native guy with a camp he rents out, or a Mom and Pop operation without a website. We've been doing this trip for around 10 years, so we've done the online research and know of all the bigger outfitters, but we're always looking for the diamond in the rough. We like -bigger lakes and rivers with lots to explore (ie a 5km long lake won't cut it) -portage lakes are a bonus -walleye and pike a must, lakers or brookies a bonus will drive as far as Nakina, maybe Armstrong, or 15 hours from the GTA into Quebec let me know if anyone has some ideas thanks
  5. a great Canadian, unlike others, I was happy to see him at Occupy Toronto, I'm not in the 1% so keep occupying!
  6. I'm not asking for specifics, but what area are you fishing? I'm guessing NW Ontario
  7. I guess I'm glad I couldn't watch it, I'd be getting pissed off, I thought Scrivens got lucky against Columbus, hopefully Reimer will be ready soon
  8. Hey Solo Does the outfitter know what species are in Wababimiga?
  9. thanks Mike, I'm not the best with computers, but I can't get that one to work
  10. hey guys, I'm away and would like to watch the TOR BOS game, what's a good website? I use to have one with an odd address, www.htmdm......? thanks in advance
  11. Rizzo you said it perfectly "Cole bumble through the game", I love NHL history and tradition, but sometimes a guy should hang up the skates, or gloves or guitar or whatever, it's hard to listen to a Bob Cole commentated game
  12. Hey Guido, great fish and pictures. I'm not an experienced brookie fisherman, but while catching a few up in the Albany River watershed, we noticed they weren't releasing very well (ie swam away slowly, sank down and had trouble keeping up-right). Is this common and do the larger fish have a good catch and release survival rats in your opinion? We stopped fishing early because we didn't like the way they were recovering. thanks Chris
  13. I don't know, but me and 3 other guys have stand-up jetskis at the cottage and we all just throw them under a tree, under a tarp, and fire them up the next year (or sometimes 2 years later) and they don't miss a beat, just my 2 cents
  14. I would go for it, it's a good quality oil
  15. I hope big bussiness doesn't win this one, it would be a shame, hydro electric dams and mining would be an ecological nightmare up there http://canadians.org/blog/?p=11384
  16. I'm curious, what are your other 2 top places in Canada Roy? (if you loved the Yukon, I think I will like your other spots)
  17. Sept 17 flew to Whitehorse and rented a mini RV to tour around for the week, it was a touring trip with my girlfriend and I fished when I had the chance, plenty of great looking rivers, ice cold from the mountains, the salmon runs were over, but managed to catch some grayling (a first for me) and pike (caught plenty of those in before), it's an awesome place, we loved the Yukon, who knows, we may end up there
  18. I really liked Cayo Coco, awesome beach and clear blue water, fishing wise, I stayed at Iberostar and saw plenty of barracuda cruising in about 8 ft of water while snorkelling, you should have a great time
  19. I'm guessing "clear the cylinders", with the plugs out, means cranking the engine, with the plugs out, allowing anything to come into the cylinder to be blasted right out the spark plug hole (dirty gas, water, debris, etc) we do this when someone sinks their snowmobile, before we try to restart it
  20. you should have bought a Yamaha! Just kidding, I love Honda stuff too I'm assuming "muffs" are something that supply water to the intake/ cooling system. Maybe on the ride up there, with the outboard in the vehicle, the bouncing caused the dry floats to jam in the bowls of the carbs ???????????
  21. Often when there's a new species introduction, a population(s)will boom, and the cycle can be long, 10 years or more, but once the fishery has a few generations, the results could be very different, Lk Erie maybe be doing well now, but smallies, walleye and perch may be seriously hurt in the longer term from gobies Any gobies making there way up the Trent from Lk Simcoe?
  22. another great report, thanks, I'm jealous though, 3 fly-ins in one year, you're lucky
  23. great report, I hope I get to Abamasagi some day I thought Howard, Elsie and their son were great too, they may not say much, but their service and helpfulness are awesome as a side note, we had to follow Elsie down a gravel logging road, we could barely keep up, it was pretty cool
  24. We only keep/ eat lakers if they have been fataly hooked. Most of ours are natural, and less than 2 lbs, but they aren't the best tasting anyway (compared to other species). They are slow growing and don't sustain fishing pressure that well too. I'm assuming the Lake Michigan Lakers are stocked fish, without natural reproduction, but the bio-accumulated toxins of lakers that size from the great lakes makes them best for catch and release.
  25. what lake are you going to?
