  1. Congrats on a beautiful Musky. Nice & Thick. Thanks for Sharing
  2. Great Report & Great Times . . . Thanks for Sharing. Tell that one fella that he needs to find a fire to throw that Bosh jersey in!
  3. Beauty Fish and definitely a tiger . . . too bad it was dead and floating around. Guess someone's revival efforts, or lack-there-of, didn't keep him breathing. And like Raf says, that little fella needs a fishing pole!
  4. Hey Folks, Well, I'm begrudgingly looking at handing over the keys to the company Escalade and buying a 2000 Ford Ranger with a V6 and 140000K on it. Also, in the near future I'm looking to buy a trailer and a mid-sized Bass boat. I'm wondering if anyone has experience (first or second hand) with towing boats with a Ford Ranger. It is a small-mid sized pickup and I'm wondering just how well it will get the job done. The (Average) Tow: will be 1-2 hours round trip to local lakes to fish for Bass or Pike. The (Unusual) Trip: Will be a trip to G-Bay, Lake Erie, or the Kawarthas for some "serious" fishing. The Prospective Boat: I'm guessing I'll be in the market for a bass boat in the 18ft range with a 50-75 HP motor. Any help or recommendations are greatly appreciated (such as is 4X4 a must?) Cheers and Thanks in Advance, Ryan
  5. I use mine like a hands-free carphone which is basically what it is. Remember "Fido" - it's that . . . on wheels.
  6. Alright, you fellas have convinced me to give it a try. I'm going to get me some canned corn and find a local carp water and get it done. Any more tips for a carping noob? Also, if someone wants to PM me a spot in the Kitchener-Waterloo area that should yield fish (big or small), that would be appreciated. Cheers, and thanks again for the helpful report. Ryan
  7. I agree with Alex here. You're best to spend the < $200 and just get a cheap model. Your standard hydrographic map costs around $35+ tax. That's kind of gross. You can often find maps on here from generous members, but if you can get a finder for $160 why not just do it!
  8. My buddy consistently trailers his 19ft Bayliner & 115 HP motor all over the province with a Ford Escape. He's never had a problem and it goes well every time. On the rare occasion he gets to use my other friends 2002 Jimmy, he has always said that the Jimmy tows it better.
  9. I was away all last week but I still heard about this mockery. When I heard that Lebron had a press conference I laughed a little at the ridiculousness of it all. Regardless, as someone who respected Lebron, I knew this decision would go a long way into my opinion on him. By signing with Miami, the way the conducted it, and the way he left Cleveland I can honestly say I am not even remotely a fan of "King James." Bosh is clearly a wanker and it was air apparently that he was going to be leaving regardless of what Toronto through at him. I guess we have to pose this question . . . Is an NBA basketball franchise viable in Canada if the good players never actually want to play in Canada? Vince Carter, Tracy McGradey, Chris Bosh, Marcus Camby, countless free agents, and even Damon Stoudamire didn't want to play in Canada. Will this ever work? Please keep in mind the way Boston "did it." In one off-season they went from NBA worst to NBA powerhouse by signing both Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen when they were at the top of the game (KG arguably still is). Los Angeles does it somewhat differently, by banking off the stupidity of other teams (AK the teams that passed up on Bynum, and the ridiculous Pao Gasol trade). This is an alright way to do it.
  10. God that looks good . . . reminds me of our cottage trip last week
  11. Beauty PAIR of Musky for you now . . . you don't catch them small do you? Those two are gorgeous and seeing reports like this makes me want to go and buy a musky setup! Thanks for Sharing, Ryan
  12. Sweet Idea V! Always fun to do things like that! Cheers, Ryan
  13. Looks like a great day on the water . . . thanks for sharing
  14. Great Report & I love all the pics! Your little girl seems to have caught the bug already and she'll love these memories for her whole life! Great Stuff. I've been thinking about giving carping a try for some time now. Would I be ok with a slightly smaller setup? 7' Medium St. Croix Avid Rod, 20lb power pro, slip-sinker, 12lb fluro leader? Carp water is easy to find and sometimes it just seems like a good way to get out fishing when you don't have a lot of time on your hands.
  15. Your reports are always a pleasure to read Steve - some great Bass pics too! Thanks for sharing.
  16. Three Mile Lake is on Native Land I believe, so you should be able to buy a map on site no problem. You can also check out www.angleratlas.com. They have free maps of some lakes - you might find Three Mile. I just drove by Three Mile Lake Road yesterday on my way back from vacation!
  17. Our family business builds communication towers for companies such as Bell, Rogers, Telus etc and we are ALWAYS building towers in cottage areas. I just got back from a weeks vacation at one of our island jobsites in Georgian Bay (Sans Souci - Frying Pan Island) and the area is dotted with communication towers. All you need is one of the wireless sticks and you can access the net pretty much wherever. Granted, when I am on vacation, or when I am fishing, the internet is the last thing I am thinking about. I am also sure that about 50-75% of the cottages through that stretch have internet access already. Ryan
  18. Man! Beauty report and spectacular fish! I really enjoyed it!
  19. I wonder if what is ruining your guides is your leader knots perhaps? Are you using fluoro leader material and tying big knots? Consistently firing those leader knots through your guides can cause problems for sure.
  20. Awesome pics TJ! Thanks for sharing!
  21. Couldn't help but thinking about what is most Canadian to me yesterday . . . and at the same time I was looking forward to my weeklong getaway starting tomorrow: A trip to an island in the middle of Georgian Bay to a cottage with my lady, half-a-dozen close friends, beers, fishing, nature, and BBQing. Then it hit me. That's one of the most Canadian things any of us can do, and that's just a small part of what Canada means to me. Best Country in the World. Our small squabbles are nothing compared to the hardships other nations face. A beautiful day yesterday with my GF and my Nephew, Bass-ing and taking in fireworks. It was a great B-Day for Canada! Cheers
  22. I came across some of these jokes in my soccer readings and had a good laugh . . . enjoy! Feel free to add your own if you know of anymore and be sure to tune in to watch the Germans give Maradona fits tomorrow (I'll be fishing - life is tough ). The Jokes: What's the difference between Cinderella and the England football team? Cinderella wanted to get to the ball.... Osama bin Laden has just released a new TV message to prove he is still alive. He said that the England Team performance on Sunday was completely bunk. British intelligence have dismissed the claim, stating that the message could have been recorded anytime in the last 44 years. Robert Green - The only man to leave Africa without catching anything. In a statement from broadcasting house, all future England games will now be shown on the gay porn channel. It is thought that 11 asses being regularly shafted is too explicit for regular TV. I can't believe we only managed a draw against a team we should easily have beaten...... I'm ashamed to call myself Algerian. The England team went to visit an orphanage in South Africa this morning: "It's so good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling, and facing the impossible," said Jamal Omboto, aged 6. FIFA have released a statement saying the fan didn't break into the dressing room after all, but was let in by Rob Green. What's the difference between Rob Green's spill and BP's spill? - Robert Green has got a cap for his. Fabio Capello was wheeling his shopping trolley across the supermarket car park when he noticed an old lady struggling with her bags of shopping. He stopped and asked, "Can you manage dear?" To which the old lady replied, "No way. You got yourself into this mess, don't ask me to sort it out..." The FA have launched an inquiry to find out how a fan found his way into the dressing room. And another enquiry into how Aaron Lennon found his way into the dressing room.
  23. That cat had a lot of moxy . . . threw the first punch and got out while the getting was good!
