    Niagara

good luck with that, I was down in the Glenn this morning water is brownish gray with about 8 inch viz max, anmd the wind was blowing strong SW which ain't going to help any time soon
  3. I love those kind of old photos, I always look at them and think about how much different some things where back then ,specially ones that really capture the era like the one with your Great-Grandfolks in it
  4. just a drizzle here, enough to coat the driveway and vehicles a bit, I just went to check it out a second ago because I have plans to go on a mission down the Gorge in the morning and when I opened the side door, I scared the crap out of a big possum that scared the crap out of me when I opened the door and there was this hissing sound and gnarly looking teeth at my feet almost getting into the house
  5. I have seen people's rods and tip-ups go in,funny part about that is, pretty much every time I have ever seen that happen is after sitting out for hours with hardly a bite, run off to drill a couple more holes, take a leak, grab some more beer ,or just simply walk over to someone elses hole and shoot the crap for a minute and what do you know, most action of the day!!! ,buddy lost grip of a good spud once at the trailer, he bummed about that can't add an ice fishing misadventure from myself, but have been fishing out on a dock before over about 10 fow and grabbed my tacklebox which I "thought" was closed, and had it open and spill all over the place loosing a tonne of misc. tackle down the bottom. Or have had the kids over the years come down on the dock screwing around at the trailer and knock a whole array of things into the water...anything from my coffee, pop, or beer to all the worms, sunglasses, fishing rods, lures, and guess who gets to fetch it all after
  6. right on, great way to ring in the new year..all the best to your family
  7. that's easy...most places bass season closes Nov 30 with the exception of a few places way up North that are open all year
  8. thanks for the update on that area Ramble On, the folks at that bait shop are pretty good people too, they generally will have minnows a good hunk of the winter, I am there a couple days a week in the summer can't wait until I get the chance to head to my trailer for some winter fun
  9. now that's a great couple days fishing all the way, nice fish guys I forgot what they look like, been a couple weeks, thanks for the reminder, a bunch of us have been waiting out the Niagara which has been blown from lake E to lake O and then some, even trying to get in some pike fishin to fill the gaps...the cold snapped skimmed the spots over so that's a no go too...screwed all around, too much ice for open water, not enough yet for ice fishin. Thanks for the reminder that there is still some hope out there and some beauty steel to be had
  10. this turned into getting to the party, waiting for a couple people to show up......then my wife decides to call and check on my little one...well the little one was throwing up and wanted to go home...so we had to leave the party just as it was getting started, pick up the little one, and go home and do nothing...I had a couple beers...wife fell alseep watching tv......yea..that was a fun party
  11. cool, wait until you catch your first really big one in that , nothing like having to beach yourself somewhere to land your fish
  12. ordering the kids a pizza to tide them over until later then we are having a regular buffet of all sorts of munchies(if there's any left to pick at for me and my friends who are part of tonight's entertainment as the band ) homemade mini quiche, sweet and sour meatballs, assorted meats, cheese, crackers, homemade jalapeno poppers, buffalo wing dip and taco dip with tortilla chips, tonnes of homemade baked goods..and that's just the stuff I know about. then beer, more beer, some shots aka whiskey, tequila, wife's homemade irish cream and whatever else is kicking around , that and more beer (have desiganted drivers on the go for the party )
  13. gathering up the guys I jam with, packing the gear over to a buddy's place and being the band for the party along with that, my buddy's place we are going to he runs a karaoke business that he works at a few bars, so people will goof around with that in between us being the band. And the kids can spend a couple hours goofing off and singing along with joining the grown-ups in some board games and cards. Tonnes of different munchy foods everyone is making and bringing along too add to the festivities as well. We generally try and make these sort of things a good time for the little kids, the teenagers and for us big kids too A couple people are non-drinkers who are going so they agreed to be the DD's for the night, so that way everyone else who wants to over do it on the booze and stuff has a safe ride home
  14. I like the way my mom-in-law passes off gifts for the wife..as "together presents" becasue we all know I really wanted a nice duvet with flowers on it
  15. mine's just my initials
  16. if you are going to go via route of a motion detector, and you don't want the troubles of critters setting it off ect. What you need is one of the motion detectors like people put in thier houses that are made so that your pets like a dog can't set it off, they are designed so that a certain amount of the "beams" they put out have to be broken before the alarm will go off, that would be what you want for outside. Remember though that a motion detector is a "power device" unlike a door or window contact, you can set one up pretty simple though, all you need is a small 12 volt battery and a siren kind of deal or buzzer...any of those small simple security alarms like mentioned for example by others, but ask the person in the electronics department about the motion detectors I mentioned designed to be put in homes where people have larger pets like cats and dogs. I have lots of experience installing security systems and CCTV in homes, offices ect, if you need any more simple ideas how to set this up shoot me a PM no probs
  17. check your PM's again, I sent you some info
  18. mmmmm bread.... now quit "loafing" around and get back to fishin gotta love all the variations you can make with homestyle breads..add some herbs of choice, perhaps cheese...whatever you like
  19. that would be cool of you to do that..and if you are checking out the ice as well, let me know, even shoot me a PM, I am planning on trying to get out there over the next few weeks some time to goof off, check on things and do some fishin...I am not planning on fishing too far away from my place, put some holes in 6-8 fow and then out to around 15, then the drop just past that I am sure if everything is in pretty good shape at your trailer, everything will be pretty good at my place too
  20. that is one solid offer for sure, specially for anyone wondering what this last big spell of crap weather might have done around thier places. I hope all my hatches where battened down enough at my trailer in Madoc , anyone been travelling that way lately, and know what conditions are like????
  21. give me a day or so and I can see what ideas I can come up with for you, my wife's uncle knows someone at a boat building place he may be able to get it for you for..it's expensive though, I will give him a call...how much you think you need?
  22. that keeps up Chilli, and we can launch the boat from my driveway soon , I am glad I already caught some respectable fish this December because I am itchin to get out big time....once this clears up and the river is green again the fishing is going to be just nuts. specially since everything in Lake Erie, and the Upper River just got spilled over to the Lower River, so now there are about 10 million more fish on the Lower
  23. this is what ya do with the ones you can keep
  24. 2 words for that Bruce.....in.....surance funny how those giant pines on my camp site never blow over onto my trailer either
  25. been out of power here all morning until about 15 minutes ago
