  1. my musky was just over $400..and that was a great deal actually..it was around $7/inch, plus the driftwood log it is mounted on and an engraved little plaque with my name, date and location caught ect
  2. nice going on getting out there Sly....that's quite the fishin machine you got there, we should be seeing a tonne of reports from some of you guys soon You should tell Scotty not to look so darn cheery man
  3. you will have a blast trying to fill that in..there's tonnes of pages in it, and you will be surprized what info you can gather for yourself along the way..it's a great learning tool...my wife got me one a couple years ago
  4. these ones
  5. you guys are reminding me of many family dinners around my mom's with a house load of relatives, some of the relatives that would fly in from Newfoundland would bring a bunch of stuff from back home that my step dad couldn't get unless he took a trip to a specialty shop some where. heck for that matter, when him and my mom got married there was a huge party and campout where my trailer is now..at the time my step uncle and my parents both had trailers side by side we loaded both sites with tents and people and had huge cook outs with tonnes of "down home" goodies. loads of good times, tonnes of laughs, lots of rum!!! not to be a thread hi-jacker... just lots of good memories wish you and yours all the best this holiday season, sounds like you guysare already putting together a great recipe (not just the eats) to make the best of the new year ahead already
  6. all the best..having a turkey with some good ole Jig's dinner on the side?,..what about some canned corn on the cob and wash er all down with some Crush Birch Beer on the side. ( my step dad was a newf so we had that alot at my mom's for holidays )
  7. that's sure is one excellent piece of work there, are you sure if you had one you would want to actually use it??..maybe you could get one..keep yours clean, and use his ..you should start making fun of that boy a bit more if your daughter has to clean his fish for him too...I wouldn't let him in your boat if I was you
  8. I got that book a few years back for Xmas, it has a tonne of pretty cool stories in there all documented true as well
  9. gonna leave some of those at my house tonight Santa????, I thought it was supposed to be the other way around....alright we will just leave ya a beer All the best to the Ugli's this season..pass it on to Judy,Anna...and I guess even Rob ,from everyone here at the JWL house...PS, invite still stands for Boxing day if you guys are in the area
  10. cool pics, also great to see the late season steel on the Lower Niagara, it was a great season for that last year, I fished them well into may, then it was "trailer season" lots of nice catches in your pics
  11. tell me about it, I just spent 2 hours yesterday with my buddy and his snow blower to clear out my drvieway a bunch for the holidays, and so I can get my boat in and out , it was surrounded by a couple feet of snow..I use that boat more in the winter than I do all summer, my neighbours think I am a little bass akwards as for the Regs, young-one, Pg 93-as per Zone 20
  12. really in a skin mount, most likely the girth will come out smaller than the fish actually was because the skin shrinks when dried..this is the "before" pic of my fish, it wasn't mounted with the big buldge in it's stomach, which turned out to be a 15 1/2 inch cat fish , the only way to stuff a fish way bigger would be to leave a huge gap at the back where it was stapled together and covered with felt, then the fins ect would not line up correctly on the fish and it would look a little off kilter when done.
  13. yes the pic thing is a great idea to put on or around your mount for sure. The guy who did mine has won many awards and I don't see my mount deteriorating any time soon
  14. I have seen some great work either way..depends on the artist who paints it up. My only beef with a replica mount is...it's not your fish..anyone can take a pic. over exagerate by a few inches on lenght and gerth and they will do you one up...there's no lies with a skin mount
  15. sucks huge..it's brown right now big time, I have put off a couple trips in the boat already over the last while.
  16. can't remember the street name but it's right beside the dam by the locks, cross over the dam and it's right there on the right
  17. nice going on the fish, it looks like you got them on a couple different baits too.
  18. jwl

    Hahah

great pics and wrap up of your season
  19. been posted before but this is definately my best looking fish this season so far..
  20. never have any troubles on the big trib I fish until April when they let the ice boom go then it's a couple days of no fishin and a couple days of dodging ice bergs, then it's good to go again until the water gets too warm
  21. X-raps and Husky Jerks for sure, the more natural colours...like black/silver and some of the new "glass colours" as well, like the perch ones and this is what you might come home with.....
  22. I know people who have went on fishing trips over the last couple years and a liscence was required by the outfitters before they could rent a boat. I myself have mine, have been in boats since I could walk, grew up running all different sized boats, way back over 20 years ago a marina on LSC when I was a teenager, my grandma had a cottage and I would rent a boat from the local marina,,,way back then, they didn't care about safety gear ect..the guy atthe marina would point me to the boat, hand me a lifejacket and say..."it's a Merc, if you have trouble starting it, goof around with the choke" , and off I went. Growing up as a somewhat experienced boater, I thought it was a little lame when they came out with the boater's cards that you could go online...fail, then write it again 2 seconds later with the answers in another window and pass as many people have gotten away with over the last few years.
  23. you probably have to be pretty careful with that one.... if you fall asleep on the couch watching tv and you lose the remote down the cushions and roll over on it you never know what button you might hit but..better than I got last year... piece of tail and a sweater......both where a bit too loose
  24. Tough call, I am a new member here, but I have seen a huge variety of fishing posts and different facets of fishing in general. There is a huge range within the membership, some people are the envy of others when they share thier tales about some of the great places they get to travel to and catch some fish of a lifetime. Others share some great reports from a family aspect and share some great reports and pics of thier families having a great time in the outdoors and sharing some great values along the way. Other people like to get out "with the boys" and go hit the water hard and see what they come up with, and alot of times there is some friendly competition along the way and a tonne of good laughs from the ribbings that come along with it. Posts from groups of people that enjoy getting together, seeing old friends, meeting new faces, and sharing in something everyone loves to do that can forge alot of friendships along the way, and alot of great times. There are posts from industry people, tourny anglers, charter captains, hosts of shows ect. I can think of a few members that stand out in alot of ways, but hard to try and pick through the diversity and narrow it down
  25. aha, I get it out now.....when the wife asks.." hey what are you up to?", you have it all covered, it looks exactly like you are making a place for "her", but you cleverly take forever to get it done, when she hounds you about it, you can say it's taking so long because you want it to be just perfect for her. You are a genius, and it comes with a built in the secret roll out cubby / beer cooler
