  1. If anyone is familiar with the black river road area I have a question about a particular back lake, I've fished most back lakes in the area and done tons if hunting in the area, but one lake eludes me. Just want to see if anyone has camped on it. Thanks, R
  2. Great night for that! Nice fish.
  3. Floatfishing with " that guy" that thinks every time the float twitches or goes under it was a missed fish, even while fishing 4' of water with an 8' lead. Lol
  4. Great video !!!
  5. OK now we're talking, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! The breed is what everyone has already stated, highly active to say the least. As for the hunting part remember Good hunting lines are critical, your not looking for show titles, you need proven hunting pedigree. Stuff like NAVHDA(North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association) titles and total points awarded to the dogs. Ask the breeder to see his/her dogs work some birds, obviously ask about health problems and various health guarantees. Make sure if your buying local to check the kennel out in person. I was burned BIG TIME with my first GSP (for hunting) I wont even tell you how many thousands of dollars I spent on that dog trying to turn her field/show pedigree into hunting birds. My GSP Jasper, is from the States (same price as buying here) lots of great dogs up here ! but upland hunting is a little more serious down South. They take hunting dogs very serious. PM me if you would like breeder info both good and bad. A good place to checkout online is "the upland journal " more info than you would ever need. Good luck!
  6. Are you using the GSP for hunting? R
  7. Bring a chain saw, lots of blow downs blocking trails this year.
  8. Do you have a 4x4 vehicle ?
  9. Thanks, Can't wait to post another similar report, and his first words this morning were "we go fishing" lol
  10. Looks like a good trip, good on ya for not bringing your gear. I paid a hefty price when I brought mine. Never again! R
  11. Well after the wife got off night shift this AM we had planned on heading to the sportsmen show but with temps forecasted into the 20's there was no way we were going to be inside. Figured with the money we would of spent on fuel, passes, food, and who knows how many impulse buys on my part we would head off to a place that guaranteed my little guy a shot at a fish and enjoy the stellar weather (though the sportsmen show trout pond is a right of passage for a kid). As soon as we arrived at the trout ponds my little guy was going crazy, unbuckled him from the truck, mom handed him his pre-rigged rod and I watched him sprint from the truck towards the ponds dragging dad's G loomis ultra light through the gravel the whole wayLesson learned. We checked in, grabbed our white pale and headed over to the brookie pond. The micro tube and slip float rig was tossed towards the middle of the pond and almost instantly my son had his first fish. I can't even explain his excitement. Between the screams, cheers we landed our first brookie. After everyone calmed down, myself included! we headed up to the rainbow pond where Mom and Dad hooked a few more with my son insisting he land them in the net. Though i enjoy the Sportsmen Show, I think weather permitting we may do this every spring until he's old enough to take a crack at some river Bow's. Definitely an alternative to the Sportsmen Show and plus who knows how much $$ I would of dropped at the trout pond at the show LOL. Back to the rivers this week for Dad! Tightlines!

  21. Wood, especially if it involves a point or shoal or any deviance in bottom contour. Some of the best winter fishing I have had for them has been in 6'FOW or less. Being quite also helps, especially when shallow. R
  22. Nice one Brian, Love my SST, mine is not pretty ( years of roe crust lol) but it keeps spinning. I reach for that pin more often than the others I have.
