  1. Nice fish, I thought of heading out but wondered about the conditions . You made the right call. And yes sometimes fishing that river feels like your flipping stumps for bass lol R
  2. LOL, lets save the IBP parking pass issue for when we are all pulling whities from atop 12' of good ice. Till then, Good fishing! R
  3. Nice fish, chilly out for sure. R
  4. LOL yes, i have kept him in the dark on that one. As far a the tag idea goes, I understand the funding issue, but I would sure rather pay for a few tags per year instead of an "Essa township fishing pass". (And FYI I don't entirely agree with the parking tickets and the IBP parking fees for ice fishing.) Before "Fisherman" jumps on me LOL...
  5. Likely a bunch, not in my freezer though. And good for you were able to read I live in Innisfil and than call me "a lowlander" lol Merry Christmas Bud LOL.....
  6. "Angus crew" are not all from Angus but fish it daily @ hwy 90. Check out how Florida manages their Tarpon tags. Not saying go that extreme but it's an idea. No COs in 13-14years... Better get out a bit more lol. Thou I agree that it's a well known problem that They are spread sparingly to start.
  7. Would love to see a Tag system implemented on the Notty. Wonder how many fish at any given time are in some of the "Angus crews" freezers Lol.
  8. Not far from there you may see a couple river otters engaged in their river antics. Not great for fishing but hilarious to watch. Thanks for the update. R
  9. What a terrible loss. I hope the other dogs owners are held fully accountable in every way. R
  10. The next rig .......... Can you imagine hitting the back lakes in this, Good luck with your search! R
  11. I have had Grand cherokees, Explorers, Xterra's, Jeep Wrangler and now drive a dodge Ram Megacab with the Hemi(should of got cummins) Xterra (supercharged) = no problems until the head gasket went @1400000 KM Jeep Wrangler= lacked cargo room, Unreal off road machine right out of the box. I really pounded that jeep heading in to brookie lakes up north and had no problems with it. Traded it in @ 60000km Dodge Ram Megacab= tons of room for both dogs, hunting/fishing gear, and six passengers. I have over 80000kms on this truck and its by far the best rig I have owned. Negative's are FUEL, parking in tight lots (truck is 20') and finally the big one..... can't get it down many ATV trails that I use to hit my brookie lakes. God forbid I ever had to turn it around on the trail. Trucks like fuel, no way around it. Past few years I have become interested in the Toyota Hilux, Surf, and Land cruisers. I think BillM is right on the money about the Toyota. R
  12. BETTER check your facts bud, Toronto had 276,729 unit responses, 144,407 emergency calls and 40,767 "FIRE CALLS". Thats 28% actual fires. Far from 1% . R
  13. No excuse for that dogs aggression, Hope your pup heals fast.
  14. May be interested in the coat, where about's in Alcona are you?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  15. Finally hit the river for a few hours today. I was going to make it a blast and cast day (hunt in the am and fish in the pm) but with over 25 days spent together in the field this season like an old married couple it was time for myself and the dog to have some "ME" time LOL so the Shorthaired Pointer was left at home. This was my Fourth time on the river this year as most of my attention has been focused on hunting. I arrived at the rivers edge first thing in the AM and was greeted by two others already there, they quickly raised their white flags and bolted.... I hope to see those deer again before Dec 31st. Fishing was great with over a dozen fish for the day. No tanks but all were between 3-6lbs which was good enough to keep it interesting. All fish came on roe bags and seemed to prefer the tail outs of the usual runs. If your headed out Tomorrow it should be good
  16. Great report, I missed my annual fall pilgrimage into the park this year
  17. Nice to see you got into a few shakers, Thank your lucky stars you were not drifting roe, they would have cleaned you out in no time. Once we get some frost to knock down some of the foliage we'll make the hike up stream!!! for the autumn tanks. You should join us for a blast and cast day, run the dog in the AM for birds, and then drift for bows in the PM. Talk soon, I have dog scratches to buff off of my truck lol!
  18. Your already on the right track by going out again in the AM!! After 20+years fishing with a pin I still lose my share of fish. The more fish you get into the quicker you'll learn what technique is right for you in order to horse those big girls in. Your long walk sounds familiar lol and if it is where iI think its I am surprised you don' bring a machete. R
  19. Out hunting with the pup today and came across this plate. TROUT A In the area of a steelhead honey hole!!!! Looks like their rig took a beating trying to get out of the mud they were stuck in LOL.
  20. I hate em!! Seems to be a bunch of them this year so watch your four legged buddies. My pup got smoked by one today, I pulled half the quills on site and the vet sedated him and pulled the rest $$$$. Safe hunting, R
  21. Thanks Brian, That slick little remington is fast as lightning.
  22. Exactly why I mainly stick with the upland hunting LOL. even that gets crazy in spots. Heres a few from today.
  23. While driving around Don't pass up even the most unsuspecting trickle coming from a culvert, especially during periods with zero rain activity, in most cases this equals spring feed water that is just the right temp to hold the brookies you are hunting. Good luck.
  24. PM SENT
  25. This sums it up perfect!!! I had a new one in 2009 and on my first backwoods trip I scratched the crap out of it..... great 57 monthly payments left is all I kept thinking LOL. If you venture of the beaten path don't buy new , get one 6-7yrs old . Rubicon's are worth the extra $$$, as long as you plan on hitting trails and not using it as a grocery getter. I have since sold mine but still miss it.
