I try to do as much maintenance on my vehicles as possible. All oil changes / brakes / most suspension work etc. Google is your friend for this stuff... if you don't know you can for sure find it on YouTube. If I get a flat on a side road or I can get to a ramp etc. I will change it myself. Anywhere on a 400 series highway / QEW / even HWY 6.... I will call CAA. Not worth getting run over. Burt

Will do Chris.... I hope the 9X30" will give me enough float... the 10X36" looked to massive to meander through the woods. Burt

So I picked up some snowshoes today from LeBaron. By far the best pricing on the Faber brand of shoes (and way better than the Faber website). Since I am billing them to work under our yearly fitness allowance I decided to get the highest technical shoes Faber makes. My youngest wants to try snowshoeing as well through the forest so I thought I had better get something with some grip to it too. Mountain Master: Will see how they perform..... BRING ON THE ICE AND SNOW!!!!! Burt

I like burgers too... Burt

I weigh about 165 lbs without gear. Predominant use will be for ice fishing so flat terrain with possible deeper fresh snow, breaking new trail, and slush conditions (no stick to shoe). So far I am looking at the following models: https://www.fabersnowshoes.com/snowshoes/hybride/winter-guide https://www.fabersnowshoes.com/snowshoes/hybride/winter-rover http://www.gvsnowshoes.com/en/snowshoes/file/wide-trail/22 Joeytier, what Faber's do you have? Thanks, Burt

Don't know anything about costs of winterizing a boat (since I don't have one) but I would let this thread fester a bit and then print them a copy and show it to them, and let them know that you will post where you had the service done...... see what they say to that lol... good luck. Don't feel too bad about being taken advantage of though... probably has happened to most of us! Burt

Brian, I have the Buddy heater and it works great. This is the older model and never had any issues with the pilot going out, unless of course I was out in the wind. I did recently pick up this small heater because of the smaller footprint, even smaller than the Little Buddy. http://www.sail.ca/en/catalogue/camping/heaters/28/m-3s-heater/ It is more directional with its parabolic reflector and puts out what the Buddy does on low. Very small and cheaper too! Burt

http://shop.gopro.com/cameras/hero/CHDHA-301.html Probably has more accessories and is cheaper.... this is what I am looking at. Burt

I am heading up on January 15th for 3 nights with a bunch of friends with Chilly Willy's..... guess we will be having perch and pike for the fish fry..... are there still good numbers of them around? Burt

I got a couple hundred buckaroos for my birthday so I am looking at a GoPro Hero. This is the new one without all the bells and whistles of the higher models. It goes for $150. This will allow me to get a clamp mount or a head mount as well. http://shop.gopro.com/compare?category=cameras Am I going to miss the swappable battery or the lack of BacPac accessories? Advise from the GoPro literate? Thanks!!! Burt

He meant "customs"........... not costumes..... don't find that ignorant at all.... Burt

While I was doing an exchange I watched a guy bring in 3 or 4 pairs of the socks that were worn out (don't know if you need a hole or what) and they just told him to go and get the new ones.... no receipt or anything. Burt
-
Just a heads up.... The lifetime guarantee socks are on sale thru 10/19 at Bass Pro for $9.99 per pair (reg. $14.99), limit 4 pairs. A good sock presently at a good price! Burt

Anyone using a small AGM battery for a trolling motor?
Burtess replied to porkpie's topic in General Discussion
Lolling at this website: http://www.trollingmotors.net/trolling-motor-run-time Looks like a 50lb thrust would draw somewhere around 40 amps at full speed, so that battery you mention would last maybe 45 min on high, maybe an hour and a half on medium? Burt -
Actually E85 is 85% ethanol.... so 85% garbage lol.... Burt

I know the Islander is a bullet proof reel but see how it feels in your hands on the rod. Then check out a JW Young Purist II in a 4" diameter and see how that fits. I used to fish a 5" Stanton and you could take in line like crazy but it was just too large for my hands. I now use an older Purist in the 4" diameter and it is lightweight and a joy to fish. Burt

Please, please, please, give me the link...... Unless it's brand name (like Mustad / VMC / Gamagatsu etc.) I don't go near it..... not worth the "risk" imho. Burt

Trip Report......Taltson Bay Big Pike Lodge
Burtess replied to NewHips's topic in General Discussion
Holly crap!!!! What a trip and report, absolutely fantastic! Burt -
I have tangled a few gulls in the line along with a really pissed off goose once (that one sucked to get untangled). Never actually sunk the hooks into one though. Usually happens when the most people are out walking etc. so there is a large audience. Last one was off Oakville pier in the spring, had a gull wrapped around the wing about midway out, had to fight it in and hold it by the wing while cutting the line off. Had my last Krocodile on in discontinued chartreuse pattern and it was still in the water so I had to make sure I stood on the other end of the line. Safe release of the gull and got the lure back too. Everyone clapped Burt

Now take some of those comments and change the context.... Now you are talking about me..... A little bit disturbing lol... Burt

I am pretty sure this kid being a ginger has nothing to do with that performance..... He seems a bit light in the loafers (not that there's anything wrong with that) lol...... Burt
