  1. Can't remember if I have seen this on here before..... I must have got it somewhere but do not recall where..... it is funny though I recorded the following times for comments that I use quite regularly: 0:05-0:10, 0:16, 0:27, 0:47, 1:56, 2:10-2:30, 2:32, 2:44, 2:47-2:50, 3:01, 3:11, 3:21, 3:32, 3:45, 3:53, 3:58..... lmao!!! Burt Edit... times quoted are about 3 seconds off... lol
  2. SylvanOwner.... I bought the shoes earlier in the season and was giving a review after I was able to use them a few times as Chris Brock suggested. Burt
  3. So I have been able to put the Faber's to the test both for ice fishing and for trekking around the woods lately. In general, these snowshoes are very easy to get used to and no face plants yet! I have used them up on Nipissing in ~2ft of snow, hauling out my gear on a Smitty Sled on Simcoe with 5" -12" of snow in drifts, and locally this week with my youngest daughter (got her some MSR Shift's) through the Dundas Valley. Gives very good grip when pulling the sled, even on thin snow. Great for the forest walks, tried out the heel lifts and can really ascend some steep inclines in 12-15" of soft snow without loosing traction. The kid likes it because it is more interesting than just "walking around". Compared to the MSR Shift (a small version of the Evo) which are moulded plastic the Mountain Master are quieter when walking on trails. The buckle system on the Mountain Master is a ratchet style, with two over the front of the boot, and one around the back. You ratchet them to tighten and squeeze the ratchet to loosen. I can put them on and take them off without removing my heavy mitts, this is a big plus! In retrospect, I could have gone with the larger 10X36" as they don't seem so large anymore after finding out how easy it is to get around with these ones. In soft fresh snow I will sink about 6" in 12-15", so this is fine with me. Burt
  4. Yup Buckshots work well but I have been having the most luck with a W3 Jigging Rap (size up from the smallest) in silver fluorescent chartreuse, treble tipped with a small shiner head. Burt
  5. Went out of IBP yesterday where you told me to go..... 47ft..... caught quite a few perch..... caught 3 keeper perch 9-10".... and one small white fish..... ate them for lunch today lol..... Burt
  6. Brian, I took my youngest one out that way at the end of the season last year, have you been out there lately? I would think maybe whitefish would cruise along there too? Burt
  7. That one should go on sale for $200 off like last year. I bought mine probably mid January 2014 for $300 at the Oakville store. Individual stores sometimes have their own sales if they want to move these larger items as well, which may have been the case with my purchase. Burt
  8. I fished Lefroy last weekend, depths from 15 to 30 feet, caught lots of perch but no keepers, all 6-7 inch. Going to try Gilford maybe this weekend and look for 25 foot depth, just a bit longer of a walk to the deeper water. Burt
  9. Just stayed a night at the Super 8 in North Bay that was booked through Expedia and was never even asked for ID let alone a credit card.... Burt
  10. I wonder how this works out if you book with say Expedia.... you pay Expedia up front (you can see the invoice on your computer screen) and then when you check into the hotel you just sign the invoice but Expedia credit card is on it, you never have to give your credit card or anything. Burt
  11. Another to urge you to go to the emergency.... lots of stuff can be delayed with a head injury, even a minor one. You might wait for a few hours but it is much better than the other options! Hope you are OK and feel better!! Burt
  12. Yes just an ice walk lol.... Fished 115 ft with a couple chases but couldn't seal the deal. Went to 95 ft and even less action..... ???
  13. I picked up a pair of Hillsound Trail Crampons just after Christmas from Sail. Todays beautiful black ice with no snow was a perfect time to try them out. http://hillsound.com/hillsound-product/trail-crampon/ These have a little bit more "spike" to them than the Kahtoola Microspikes, they are about 50% longer than the Microspikes. All the spikes on the ball and the heel of the foot are made out of one piece each of hardened steel, unlike the Kahtoola that have small spikes attached to the chains. They also have a Velcro strap that makes sure the device stays on your boot. I went with the XL size to fit my size 9 Kamik feltpacs and my Baffin Titans. I could have used the L but the XL were easier to get on and of course the strap snugs them up more as well. Didn't feel strange walking in them and they gave wicked grip. I don't know how I made do with the cheapo ones for so long, these are the cats meow! Burt
  14. I have the same auger and I run TruFuel 50:1 in it (I do not have any other 2 stroke toys). For me this is the easiest and safest way to fuel the thing. Mine, in the cold (-20C and lower) it likes a full throttle start which would indicate it is tuned too rich I suppose? Anyway it starts lol.... Burt
  15. I was up on Nipissing over the weekend as well, just a few cigar pickerel and a couple mud puppies.... not very good. What do you want to fish for? Valens has bluegill and crappie, with a few pike thrown in.... C&R though. You mention Port Colbourne, that is around 1hr10min from Hamilton? What about Lake Simcoe, about 1hr30min from Hamilton? Burt
  16. Jon, the one on sale at CT is the QF3i which is the insulated model..... the one at LeBaron is the QF3 uninsulated model, hence the much lower price. Burt
  17. Great pics!! Pike through the ice are just so awesome..... they can be such beasts and really make fantastic picture material! I hope to get some up on Nipissing next week when I go. Going to find some 5-6 foot shallow water near an island and set down a big mackerel..... Burt
  18. Why repair it? Just use it as is. It's only the tip missing. I don't think any or my Henkel's have the tips left, and they are the old German ones. Seem to be fairly brittle steel. Burt
  19. Keeping the fingers crossed for the next 24 hours.... hopefully it thickens enough in spite of the wind forecast. Burt
  20. Can they relocate it to the backyard? Then they violate no bylaws and the neighbours can pound salt.... Burt
  21. Lol..... I guess somebody thought my comment and condolences was serious too since it was deleted.... but you should have noted that I referred to Old Ironmaker as "Old Ironman" lol.... Burt
  22. I do my best to help as well. Received this surprise in the mail after trailing for miles and calling in a drunk driver. I held her at the scene of the accident. Burt
  23. I thought this was a serious message till the punch line..... great one!! I stole this for my Facebook page..... Burt
  24. I don't know anything about charging batteries but my Humminbird portable came with the following charger: It puts out 1A and charges a 7AH battery. Burt
  25. I asked for a sheepskin hat. If I get that I will be happy as a pig in ...... I left this page open on my wife's computer: http://eglifarm.com/product_info.php/cPath/22_60/products_id/78 I always try and buy Canadian (or North American) if possible and this fits the bill. I hope she took the hint as she always give me trouble when she does the same and I drop the ball lol!!! Burt
