  1. That's a good picture of some deer yes Lew! I understand population control and good harvesting when it comes to hunting but this is what we need to see more of!
  2. wolves, birds, deer its all the same...the group seems to love killing wolves obviously but i see 15 birds on a tailgate or 3 or 4 deer strung up quite often on Facebook. I love pictures of living things but the dead pics don't do anything for me. A deer standing eyes open in the bush would be sweet, dead in a garage not so sweet IMO But that's cause I'm a fisherman!
  3. We stocked it last year. We have a spool or 2 left in 30lb ice line (a little heavy haha). Our US shipment of ice fishing has yet to arrive still. If we get it in I'll post back here for ya 123chadder. I have a few rods with it still. Awesome braid for the cold.
  4. I think it's time to do a recap my self. Nice year Steve, those were some tank buckets man nice job! Thanks for sharing!
  5. I love my camera and would do these things if I caught a record Largemouth or Smallmouth bass. I would get the fish in the live well. Get 4 or 5 perfect normal photo's with the fish. Then I would do both take pictures of length/girth measurements and weigh the fish with a digital scale. I would keep clear photo's of measurements and weight as well as getting somebody to film it. With a good livewell i'm sure the fish would be fine. After measurments and weight it comes down to certified weight and the record. I know you can't transport live fish so you would have to transport the fish dead to a local grocery store somewhere where you can get a meat scale (certified in the last year). Personally, photo's and video would be enough for me. A 10lb+Largemouth or 9lb+Smallmouth up here would be remarkable. After documentation and providing the fish is in good healthI would turn it back no mount or anything. My near 7lb Largemouth I did the same thing, photo's/video and release. I since then have setup a replica mount to be done by Advanced. It would be a dreamy day, I would take a record bass over a small lottery winning any day
  6. I keep the box if the reel is worth more than $50 or so. Core's, Stella's, Chronarch's I have the box for each reel I own except for 1. If you decide you want to sell the reel it will get you a few extra bucks 9 times out of 10. Takes up room but o well.
  7. Doesn't bother me. Guys who hunt deer pay almost $50 for there tag alone. My fishing license is under $30 or around there for the year. I just wish we got more for paying more. It seems we get less for paying more in todays world.
  8. Not me, I would got for largemouth....but that's cause I would fish for a 10lb+ Saltwater would be fun, if i had a interest for it. Bass head remember
  9. Amazing...Going to pass this video on. I'm guilty of the computer but wasting time on a cell I try not to do...were loosing touch that's for sure.
  10. Very nice pictures and catches. Must of been a hell of a time, neat to see the crab boats too. Love the scenery shots Thanks for sharing MTBF
  11. Mike nice report man! Those are some really nice buckets man! I love how "open" the water is. I am a slop magnet by nature haha but those smallies are a blast. Looks like you got a few of them also! Thanks for sharing! MTBF
  12. Live bait hahaha, only through the ice for me. I like VMC jigs if I had to fish the worms or minnows.
  13. Thanks for the comments guys, was a fun day. I got out last week for a day on Stoney, had a blast catching smallies. No real size to them, we had some in the low to high 2lb class but constant action on jerk baits all day. Hey Matt, it's actually not my boat my friends boat. He had the 8' last summer had issues and moved to this new 12' Talon. Rock solid, much better design. We were holding off a point in 11ft 8" of water and it struck down and held us on a point in a low wind. Used it lot's in the pads and other locations. The new soft/hard bottom feature is nice.
  14. Nice guys, smallmouth are almost a new favourite for me! So much fun, Thanks for sharing! MTBF
  15. O man it was a tough go, that afternoon was a struggle with a few pike and smaller bass caught. The morning made up for it. I'll find 4lb+ Smallies next summer, the lakes are small but I know there is a small population of big bass…Might not be easy like Simcoe/StClair/Erie etc…but the hunt excites me. Nothing better than mastering and mastering your own lake one spot at a time Thanks for the kudos, were off to some local lakes this week for 2 day trips. MTBF
  16. That's wicked, nice job!
  17. If I was considering a reel at $200 it would be the new Curado I. The Chronarch 50/200E's are bullet proof reliable reels but if you want better casting, gear durability and power the Curado is the way to go. Improved spool, and very comfortable to palm. For $299 the Chronarch CI4+ will be lighter, cast lighter baits better and perform a little nicer over time. But that 200 sized Curado is smaller in hand even though the Chronarch is a 150 sized reel. For all around fishing the Curado is the ticket. Guys will still buy the E Series Chronarch's because they are a proven design, they just flat out work, those 50E's cast a mile with 10lb Fluoro or a light braided line. Hope this helps, get down to a store and feel as many reels as you can.
  18. Hey everybody, hope this past summer was good to all of you and now that Fall is well under way I hope you all get out there once or twice it's so quiet this time of year on the lakes makes for a relaxing day. I wanted to make a short write up on a recent trip. I got the opportunity to bring a friend fishing for a day and a morning this past week. We made the trip early Wednesday morning. Leaving Oshawa around 5am we got to the lake shortly after 8 or 9 in the morning. The lake was glass flat at first. As soon as we got the boat in the water we read the water temp at about 66 degrees. In past trips I made this time of year the water temps were from 63 to 68 degrees. I kept a open mind and went off of some new smallmouth tactics I learned this past August. We got on the water, each with 7 or 8 rods in the boat we had lot's to throw at the bass. I started using a combo of a 3.5" Green Pumpkin tube and a 110+ Jerkbait, getting the bait down 7 or 8 ft on 10lb Fluoro I had a little 2lbr come up right away in 22ft close to a rock pile a half hr into the day. I was stoked, my buddy then got 2 smaller largies on a crank bait in the same spot. We drifted down further and I got one on the plastic, was a solid high 3lb fish made my morning. Great fight on the light line. Well after this we took our time out in 2 spots where both little fish and pike were all to be found. It was qr to noon at this point so I wanted to see if a bay I love to hit only this time of year would produce a largemouth or two. I decided to hang back a little with his boat and just work the swim bait up through the pads. My friend threw a toad style frog subsurface and got a pair of smaller largemouth. I got the first bite in the bed, was a solid largemouth bass. What a good bite. We were 1 degree warmer in close to the cover here. After this we headed in for lunch and got back out on the lakes around 1 or 2pm. We headed to a big stretch where I get good largemouth usually. This time not so much, we pitched and worked baits slow with no luck, just 2 small bass in the hr or 2 we were there and a few baby pike. I moved to another smallmouth location where my friend nailed a mid 2lb range smallie on the jerk bait. Made me happy, we went pitching again in some semi shallow semi deep wood/rock cover with no luck striking out with a few 1lb baby bass for the late afternoon and a 4 or 5lb pike. I was happy to have a tight line at that point haha. The next morning we got out late for a few hours. I again was the Pike master with 2 on the line but I struck out for bass, my friend got a nice chunky fish for the cold morning and new wind that came up overnight. Made me happy. Enjoyed my little trip and relaxed a little. Might have 1 or 2 more day trips left in me for to cap off the season but in the Kawartha lakes see what these close to home fish are doing Thanks for reading everybody! MTBF
  19. Awesome report, the pressure must been crazy those first few hours until Jim hooked up! Dial it in old school school nice job huge musky he caught wicked. MTBF
  20. 2 days next week bassin gonna be a blast

  21. Unreal, just unreal man. So much kudos for doing that good for you guys glad nobody got hurt.
  22. Nice job Steve!
  23. Unreal Musky report, what a PB Pete congrads man love the pictures!
  24. 3.5" TexasRig-Jigs..I like flipping jigs but find you have to work to hard to get them through the slop and the slop loves to attach its self to jigs…I throw the plastic, keeps my bait in the water 2x as long and works awesome. Get a good Swimbait, I'm spoiled so I throw the swinging hammer with the big tail, vs the skinny dipper with the tight wiggle this bait is better for bringing fish out of cover…they can feel it more. Small poppers, you don't need megabass but the results are always awesome when throwing the high end hard baits, and jerk baits…you could fish a tube all day but I saved it for the cold front conditions…I like rip baits, didn't get a small smallmouth all trip, good 2 1/2+ bite on those with the biggest getting caught on it. Froggin…you do catch 1lb largies in certain spots but when you frog high potential cover you will always be rewarded…bass eat frogs don't care if it's september or june they are in the cover and munching. Hope this helps
