Out for a couple hours last night

Nice! Beauty's for sure still can't get onto a brown to save my life. Maybe next spring. -
Good morning everybody! I have never put together a video edited in with music and neat fish catch's. This past Christmas I asked for a GoPro from the family and they delivered. Was very happy. Unfortunately I don't have a portable power pack so while camping this past August I didn't bother bringing the camera/laptop. However on my last trip I brought up the electronics and spent some time each day (4-5 hours) filming then at night uploading the videos. I did get some nice fish on video and of course some little fighters also. Very excited to of got this completed and put together. Although I'm not sponsored by half these companies I wanted to point out the tackle in the video. Most of the clips were shot using The Perfect Jig 3/4oz Stand-Up head with a PTL 3.5" TRJ Trailer on the back used as a chunk. Bait two is a 1/2oz Pearl and Pearl/Chartreuse Swim Jig rigged with a PTL 4.8" Swinging Hammer on the back(Trimmed 1"), and next are Nichol's Pulsator Metal Flake 1/2oz Spinnerbaits as well as the Megabass Vision 110+1. No finesse no light line except with the Jerkbait. Straight 10lb Fluoro on that setup. The Jig/Swim Jig/Spinnerbait rods are lined with 50lb braid, 22lb Fluorocarbon or 20lb Fluorocarbon. There is also a quick flip with the TRJ simply texas rigged with pegged 1/2oz tungsten above the bait. Enjoy and take it easy on me first try . Get it opened up to wide screen, should play automatically in HD Quality. https://vimeo.com/141468836 MTBF

Thank you sure was! I'm almost done my GoPro movie, that will be Awesome! Some days 1 or 2 is all you need. It seemed flipping weed lines and having that Spinnerbait/Swim Jig approach was all we needed. Don't make as much $$ as half these people on here but always find the time to take care of Me and that's 2-3 weeks off each summer on the water. As long as I can get that every year till I die I'm happy! Thank you sir! Thanks for the reply's guys. I'll post a new thread soon with my little 3 minute movie

We brought 11 total. The I-Slide Megabass swimbait I never got hit on and I left the Tube and Drop Shot rod's on short never threw them once. Wanted to but couldn't put down reaction baits...Need a graph as mentioned to build my deep water confidence. I've never trolled for Walleye except on Rice. I love bass fishing especially when your not getting dinks all day. Wish these were all 4's but that quality 3lb class bass is always a pleasure to catch. Staring up at my 6lb 13oz LMB from Seymour above my head on the wall still dreaming of the day I'll catch something bigger. The hunt is never over every trip I fish hard to break that PB. We talked and I talked about it so much but no I never found the time to do the tube/drop shot. They must of been deep on those crappy days so when the jerkbait didn't work I went to weedlines with rock close by and found nice largies all day. 2016 my friend were gonna get a graph with structure scan and look out! Thanks for the comments! No never really got into rapid situations except when I was a kid exploring new lakes up north with my Papa. Enjoying the comments guys, always humbling for me to do this write up then sit back and read all the great comments and posts from the board members. MTBF

Hello again everybody here on OFC. It's report time I just got in the door a few hours ago and wanted to post a report on a pretty successful fishing trip. My mom, grandma, little brother and I headed out mid day last Friday for Northern Ontario to mainly kick back, relax and for me FISHING!!! I got out a total of 11 times. Once for a hour and a bit Friday evening and then managed to get 8-9 hours in on the lake every day even when the wind and rain came up mid week. The funny thing about this September was for me personally I did much better in the mornings when it came to numbers than the afternoons. Evenings sucked for me but I managed to keep a steady catching rythem going most outings. This year the bass were caught on a smaller variety of baits. First was a 3/4oz Stand-Up style flipping jig with a Texas-Rig Jig trailer on the back, I used this to pitch to visible deep weed as I dont have a fishfinder yet so tend to be a very visual angler when it comes to finding bass....got to haha. Nichols 1/2oz Pearl White Spinnerbait, a Pearl Swinging Hammer both texas rigged and cut down 1" and put on a 1/2oz Swim Jig was good for covering shallower weed and cover. The 3.5" TRJ simply texas rigged and and with both a 1/2 and 3/8oz weight I used just twice this trip pitching some shallow mat's under the sun. Other than those baits I didn't get to do the finesse fishing I wanted, no froggin either. The jerkbait picked up just one photo worthy smallie in the early hours. I tended to change gears to largemouth once I got dialed in on the pattern. On with the photo's. First evening best fish for the time I had, covered a flat and found a couple largies. First cast, smallie blew up on the spinnerbait. Straightened it out was blown away, caught a few dozen Largies this week only bent them left or right slightly. Power these fish have. Going to find a 5lbr up here one day. My mom taking shots with the camera. This captures the morning in it's beauty. Haven't missed a morning on my trips in 4 years of taking fishing trips. Love this part of the day. Good fish out deep, love the rush these fish give you. Got into a foot of water maybe 2 at best first afternoon. Sun was out temps were hot was fun to see some mat's lift up. No giants but this was the better bite a little after lunch. Fat bass from the deep weedline. Love hearing that Fluoro slice the water on the hookset. 3/4oz Jig didn't seem to slow them down they were on it this trip. Filler fish are present throughout the days, haha obviously I wasn't very impressed but can't complain Nice largemouth early on. Fished these with the trailer hook all week but all the bass seemed to of always had front or both hooks in them. Was a fun bite never really got on a good blade bite up here. Good largemouth on the jig. 2lbr, fun fight but no bragger. Still better wake up than a cup of coffe. Catch and Release. Love seeing these guys swim back strong and healthy. Another afternoon another good largemouth. Fished deep first then tried some pad edges later on. My big fish of the trip. Pitching the TRJ to the pads. Only bite in the entire stretch but was the right bite. Little action shot, Largies out deep on the jerkbait. Smallmouth. Wasn't my year for numbers but I did get a few this trip. Largemouth after breakfast. The 2 days of Spinnerbait/Swimbait madness began. Fairly warm and overcast, perfect conditions. One of many small Pike. 3 or 4 each day lost 2 baits this trip didn't totally break the bank...we wont talk about August I wasn't to impressed. 2lbr, fun on the jig as always Time for the bigger bass to play. Another pike, not super long but good fight. This was my morning wake up the next day. Love that Swinging Hammer/Swim Jig combo, lot's of confidence now. Things didn't come together for my on my last morning Wednesday. Only got 1 bass that morning so we changed up from the big jig's and blade baits and came up with a new plan. Great largie to save my morning. Went out on my only solo mission of the trip. My mom was out for most trips taking pictures and fishing along side me. Always nice to hang out once a year. Brought back my best pair for the afternoon. Still was a tough bite but cut the weight in half and went to a 3/8oz TRJ no rattle just texas rigged and pitched as much cover as I could find. Got 4 decent bites these were my best 2. Ended off on a good note. As seen I had my GoPro on 95% of the trip when battery would allow. I will be posting a video hopefully in the coming weeks of all the action and hooksets. Thanks for viewing everybody hope you enjoyed the pictures. Tightlines and enjoy the fall everybody! MTBF

Bass love senkos...... A little too much
MCTFisher9120 replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
I can't do it...can't do the wacky rig anymore. Got me into bassin' tho that 5" Dinger when Izumi was pushing them on tv...Now I much prefer flipping, pitching or casting(frog, spinnerbait, swim jig, swimbait, deep crank, shallow crank, jerkbait, popper, spooks, drop shot, tube jig,and more I'm sure. Every season I add a technique to my style of fishing...Although that Senko has its place just dont use them anymore. Congrads on a good weekend, got a little more than 2 weeks can't wait to get fishing again myself! -
nice pics the largies are awesome!

August 2015 Bass Fishing Report
MCTFisher9120 replied to MCTFisher9120's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the comments guys. The smallies up there are beauty's very rustic old looking fish. I'm sure a 4 or a 5 from our lakes must be 3-5 years older than a bass from Simcoe/Erie/Ontario etc...Don't know for sure but I would assume. The Largemouth are tough sometimes. I never have days where we catch dozen's of small bass, maybe it's the baits we try but I am always going for those 2lb+ bites, bigger baits nothing finesse when the bite is on. Can't wait to get back next month, going to chase smallies morning and evening and try for largemouth for a couple hours each afternoon. Thanks for viewing guys, relaxed more this year and never tried to line up 5 or 6 spots and plan a afternoon. Just went with my gut and drove the boat the where ever we wanted to fish...still in "mellow" mode since coming back. Tightlines MTBF -

August 2015 Bass Fishing Report
MCTFisher9120 replied to MCTFisher9120's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the comment. He is actually my papa my dad has the shades on in some pictures with the Daiwa hat. Papa caught the bass on a texas rigged Power Minnow, the realistic looking one that's 4-5" long with the fork tail. Just twitching it through the slop, 30lb braid basic rod and reel haha. Smallies should be around yes can't wait to get back. -
August 2015 Bass Fishing Report
MCTFisher9120 replied to MCTFisher9120's topic in General Discussion
They are such tough fish and when rolling the swim jig through pads you often would see the big swirls behind it. There not the best at being stealthy sometimes but when they hit hang on. My biggest is a 10lb 1oz this didn't even go 8lbs Makes you cry too hoping you have a giant bass on -
Went bass fishin'... somebody forgot to tell the bass

Hello again everybody on OFC. I just got back last night from a fun camping trip with my Papa, Uncle and Dad. We camped out for 2 weeks this year and I was in "relax" mode this time around. I did fish hard some days but I tried to go out for mornings or afternoons most days. This year was different than last season. Fish seemed to move to different areas and places on the lakes I fish. I tried for smallies off and on for several days but only came up with 2 bites for the couple hours of tossing jerk baits. Largemouth where off in what I considered "smallie spots". O well we did our best and had some big fish along the way. I am never shy to share what baits and techniques put fish in the boat. This year I did well with a few baits, pitching cover and pads I prefer a texas rigged bait. They are a little more efficient when coming through slop and weeds. The craw I love and haven't seemed to steer away from is the PTL 3.5" Texas-Rig Jig, I run 3/8-3/4oz Pegged Tungsten above the bait. Next bait was just a white or white/chartreuse 3/8oz to 1/2oz Swim Jig. This I would take the PTL Swinging Hammer, bite 1" off the head and put it on. Did the trick getting some good quality bites. Our next bait was a Perfect Jig Stand Up style in a 3/4oz weight. This I would make long pitches and shake it through the deeper weed beds and weed lines. We tossed the Vision 110 and Pop-X hardbait's a little also. My Frog came out some but wasn't on fire like some trips in the past. Learned to adapt and use some other techniques. Anyway weather was fine we had on and off rain and storms pass through most days so this moved the fish around lot's. Here are some pictures, can't wait to get back in September! First morning on the lake, got to love the 5am sunrise. My first bass of the trip! Trying the shallow cover only coming up with 2lbr's fun fish but not what we want Fished deeper pad's on day 2 and at 10am this big Largemouth Bass chomped the TRJ. It was game on when those pads rose and his head came out of the cover Later that day got this good fish to hit the frog. Good average bass pitching little spots in the cover. Another bass on the frog 8pm off the campsite my Papa hooked into his biggest and the biggest we have caught off shore here. Was happy for him Next day I'm playing catch up now haha. Decent morning bass on the topwater. Later in the day another solid bass on the TRJ. As always I come across one of these. Crushed a Swim Jig as I was bringing it through the pads. Exploring new water finding fish And another Got my cousin out for a morning had a fun time. He strikes first My turn, popper can't be beat for fun on the water. Pike time, we caught/shook off maybe 2 dozen this size such a pain in the butt when your bassin' My big smallmouth of the trip smoked the Vision 110+1 Dad with his first of the trip Big fight, got this good Pike in the cover on a Frog. Made for quite the rush before we knew it wasn't a bass. Nice high 3lbr on the Swim Jig My cousin with a nice fish, saw him on the lake so ran over he got one right away haha Jerkbait bass from the deep Another good smallmouth on the jerk bait. Wish I did better in this department this trip, try and do better in September. My uncle with a good fish, hit the frog in the early hours. Was happy for him! Tried some deep cranking, the DT-20 got one for dad I struck out this time out just little bass. Had a fun 5am-11am tournament with my uncle and friend. Dad and I won by 1lb and took bragging rights for the year. Was fun to fish against the clock. Got 5 culled one little guy as we did a 4 fish limit, didn't get any "kickers" that morning but this picture with dad made my day! Fishing the deep weeds with the jig got a couple in this stretch this day this was the bigger one. Next day same area they got bigger. This was a high 3 then 10 minutes later we got another just ounces bigger was pretty cool. Next fish on the jig. Such a big fight love it. Let's pop the hook and let her go Dad with another good bass, Swim Jig this time. Thursday our second last day. Started the morning with a decent bite on the popper. Then 1 on the Swim Jig Then 1 on the Flipping jig. Seemed I knew what I was doing for a few hours. Friday morning was super slow for me. Got this bass to hit the jerk bait after a hour of popper/swim bait fishing Later that day got one to hit the jig fishing some rock wall type cover. This was the last fish of the trip. My dad and I went out from 3-6 Friday and he got 1 bite and I got 1 bite. Here is his another good chunky bass on the Swim Jig. Here was my last bass of August 2015, big fish of my trip and made me so happy. Was slow rolling the Swim Jig on a deep weedline when this thing crushed it. All in all I didn't have as many photo's as last years trip. I failed on the Smallmouth but with the water being a little more stained this trip or maybe it was the temps. Regardless my mission in September is smallies morning and evening and largemouth in the afternoons. A few weeks and I'll be on another trip. Thanks for reading and viewing everybody! MTBF

As the other guys said Aikmans is the way to go. Unless it's Shimano no other brands really have good warranty/part centres up here. Rocky's and Aikmans take care of Quantum,Okuma,Daiwa,Abu,Pflueger and Mitchell reels.

When done properly frogging for a day can turn into a 90-100% hookup ratio. Three things I do when frogging the slop and sparse cover. Bend the hooks up slightly, especially on the LiveTarget Frog's, the hook size I don't like as I prefer the Bleedin' frog by Snag Proof but anyway bend the hook up slightly. Get a good scent and apply scent to your frog. With the hooks slightly bend up your going to drastically change your hookup ratio even when your staring off in the distance and miss the odd strike. The hooked slightly elevated over the rubber body when sticky sharp will always grab meat in the bass's mouth. Adding scent improves "hang-on" time. You get a extra 2 or 3 seconds on a frog bite when it tastes and smells real so fish will hang on and take them deeper. How many times have we walked a frog slowly while a bass follows behind. Some cases I see them right behind then they will commit. Other times it's a strike and hook-set. 3rd tip is count to 3. This has never steered me wrong and it's only when I set to early or late when things go wrong. Strike, 2, 3, set the hook. Stiffer Ex-Heavy powered rods will allow you to maintain better control of 4lb+ largies. Most MH's and H's will get fish in the boat. Lot's of fun keep at it it will soon become one of your favourite techniques. I'm about to head on a half month trip and most days I cast the frog probably 2-3 hours minimum. They are very productive. Every pad and slop bed around will have frog's on it or on the shore. A Frog is a rare opportunity for a bass so you will tend to get bigger than average bites. I'll take 10 bites on a frog vs a senko any day. Try frogging under the high sun, 11pm-2pm this way you will get a great shadow from your frog having the sun directly above you. Some of the best times of day are when all the ladies are on shore in the shade, get out in the heat just bring the big rod/reel and line for the fight.
