  1. I have read the survival rate of salmon bread in our eastern rivers are very low and not enough to support it self. Most of the Salmon stocked into our lakes and follow there instincts to travel up river and spawn but I'm sure it differs from river to river. I find it hard to believe, especially when it comes to stocking salmon over trout in majority....
  2. cutting the line always works, or at least gives you some pleasure lol..
  3. Really, how? I said it can wash dirt into your reel? Dirt in your reel can make a day on the river a short one. Why risk it bill?
  4. I hate it when people dunk there reels personally. Sure if your going to pay that much for a reel you might as well show it off, just don't get one for the purpose of showing it off.. It's NOT good to dunk it so why would you? Your just washing dirt into your reel and oil out... And yes I'm sure some people will only do it with there last fish before they leave the river and ok, that might not be so bad but the rest of you.... WHY????
  5. Awesome post once again Garry! I've became a big fan of suffix 832 after your review of it and have it on almost every reel packed with braid. I've used it on most of my reels since February/March and not one of them(7 reels ranging from 10lb to 50lb) need to be re-spooled. No signs of fraying at all un-like pp after and regular season of use, and it's no where near as dull as most braids will get. I'm not sure how but I hadn't heard a thing about pp releasing there 8 stand braid until MTBF was talking to me about it the other day. Has any one tried it yet? I'm going to give it a shot next year, but with CTC always having 832 on sale for 15 bucks it's hard to justify lol... I didn't see your post Ron. I've never had a problem with braid twisting before, or at least cause a problem. You said you could see the line twist, does that mean the line isn't round?
  6. Haven't eaten one, but I have yet to find a bullfrog that wont attack my frog when fishing lol. Maybe one time when I'm camping I'll keep a couple for the fire.
  7. I wouldn't be to quick to grab the gun in the morning I'm just sayin
  8. So what rod will you be slapping it onto?
  9. purple. Are you really asking a question like that on here? I could see if maybe you were worried about the glare from sun shining off it but come on, what color do you like better?
  10. I just received a letter last week, I actually forgot about it until now Not looking forward to waiting around all day...
  11. My grandfather made one about 30 years ago that he gave to me. I could see it being good for the right size fish (jumbo perch) But most other fish will shake the hook before you get to it, if they do get hooked at all.
  12. Yah, Dave's probably got them held up in court, trying to win his boat back
  13. Would be nice after a day of floating bags. I hate how the smell of roe never washes off!
  14. Awesome pictures. I like the ripples in the water around the ducks, your lens pics them up nicely.
  15. Yes but no one is going to find these people, go to another country, and try them for fraud... If it was a guy down the street it would be easy, but all you can really do beyond that is make a report and hope for the best, even though you know nothing will come from it... The only way to protect your self in most cases is to educate your self on internet fraud and never fall for it, although some of those buggers come up with some pretty elaborate scams.
  16. My buddy got his pb bass out of a little irrigation pond on a golf course he worked on. When the course got closed they donated all the fish they could catch to a local fish hatchery. There were tons.
  17. I just got a 96 gmc sierra for a thousand bucks. It was off a family friend but hell that things got plenty of life left in it. It isn't v8 or 4x4 but it's a decent truck and drives awesome. Just take your time and look around for private sales. Gotta find that guy that is getting rid of his truck that he's owned for 10+ years because he just replaced it with a brand new one.
  18. I stopped removing mine from the skein. Just cut up roe bag size chunks out of your skein. Can only be thawed one time so I put about 15 chunks in a bag or so, then tie the bag up making sure no air is left inside. If you do want to scrape them then just pull them off gently with your fingers, and again try not to be thawing them out repeatedly.
  19. I bought my gf a quantum kvd casting reel because I promised her if she learned how to use a bait-caster I'd get her a set up. I thought my gf forgot how to use one she was getting so many back lashes out there. I gave the reel a shot and wow, the brakes on that reel do nothing from one extreme to the other... I've thought about trying to fix it but for some reason couldn't figure out how to get it apart and gave up before searching how lol. I lost the receipt so were stuck with it and can't sell it so I guess I'm going to have to figure out what causing it to be a piece of crap...
  20. There are a couple good sites that will demonstrate how to tie, and the purpose of each knot. For joining two lines of the same size uni to uni works quite well. I find though if I'm running higher then 12-15lb leaders that a uni to uni will give at the knot. I'm practicing with new knots and the albright special seems to be a good knot and slips through the guides a lot easier then a uni to uni and can be tied with 2 lines of different diameter. Although the Six-turn Yucatan knot is supposed to be the strongest and is still smaller then the uni to uni. http://www.netknots.com/html/fishing_knots.html
  21. I was fishing for pike once and we couldn't get into a thing. So I got bored and started trying on just about every lure in my box. I tied on a suick that I got as part of a trade and threw it in the water. I reeled it in not knowing how to use it and thought this is a stupid lure lol. Figured one more cast, this time I'd try to give it jerks and see what happens. Threw it out jerked it twice then bam! A pike came up and smoked it.. The last thing I was expecting was to get a hit on it but it ended up being the only lure that produced for us that day. Other then that I can't really think of a time I got a fish on a lure I didn't have confidence in.
