I would be interested, if Im still around the Kingston area when you get here. I also have been offered a job and may be relocating to Northern BC as a result. I don't have a boat or anything, do have a canoe we could get out in if I'm still around. Either way if your looking for some spots, feel free to pm me and I'll help all I can. There are tonnes of great bass lakes withing about half hour if your willing to drive. Good luck with the move!

When I lived in Windsor I went to a local tackle shop, and they swore by imitation Gobys. He said most boats jigging the detroit river were using imitation gobys, and the best colours were the bright ones.

Look at that, and knowing where it came from makes me cringe! Nice report though, I love it when members share unique experiences!

Well fellow OFC'ers as some of you more observant ones may have known, I graduated from teachers college in the spring. Since then I have been putting off summer employment and focusing on getting a teaching job for September. I was getting pretty discouraged, prior to Thursday I hadn't heard anything from any of the applications I sent out, and boy did I send a lot. Then Thursday rolled around and got calls from two different school boards in northern Saskatchewan and Alberta, so I have phone interviews set up for early this week. THEN, yesterday morning I received a call from School division 87 in northern BC, they were pretty anxious to get an interview going, and I spoke with them over the phone for close to an hour last night. The interview went pretty well I thought, and I was excited to hear back from them. Well wouldn't you know it, not even 10 minutes after hanging up the phone, they had called back to offer me the position!!! I've been beaming ever since. I haven't accepted yet, because its pretty far away (Dease Lake, BC), but I am strongly considering it. The position is a really unique opportunity for a new teacher, and it doesn't hurt that the fishing up there is supposed to be unbelievable! I just had to share my good news, I'm too excited/happy about the prospects of FINALLY starting my career, it only took 2 degrees and about 45-50k in debt. Thanks for listening! -fwf

Great report! thanks for the fish porn!

if I can get away with, that is if there are few weeds, I rig it wacky style. There is something about how it falls to the bottom, with a little bit of shake, that triggers strikes.

Hey Glen...could this happen where you fish?

If you're looking for an alternative to both braided and mono, try out some copolymer line. I bought it a while back and put it on my rod only a couple weeks ago. Before that I had just been using Trilene low vis. Green mono in 8lb. The copolymer is much stronger than that mono, but wont break the bank like some braided lines. Easy to use, holds knots well, and little memory so far. The one thing I found though, is that initially it had a lot of line twist, only for the first day really and this might have been how I spooled it. anyways all I did to correct it was let all the line out behind (no lure attached) then reel it in through the resistance of the water. (Im sure this could also be done along a bank). Here is a link to the kind I have, 10lb test has shown little abrasion or colour fading, and I can cast it a mile! http://www.p-line.com/product_detail.php?id=602 -

Nice report! I've never seen so many ducklings in one photo, or leeches that big. How much salt do you think it would take to get one of those off?? -

Nice fish! I've really got to get out on the big water sometime for some of that!

Next time I'm at ikea (if I don't have something else before then) I'm going to pick one up.... but I don't get there very often.

All my walleye luck has come with a bottom bouncer (usually 3/4oz-1.5oz) and a worm harness with a double hook. (Jiggernault makes a good product just make sure you DONT get the wire leader kind) tag a nice dew worm onto the double hook and drift/troll away! could be tough if its weedy where you are, but give it a try either way!

Drift sock on a canoe.... I like that idea and may have to adopt it! what size sock did you get?

I also would go 6,6' as opposed to 7. might not be able to cast quite as far, but you get a lot more control. -

That looks like a nice rod... you could probably get away with something cheaper if money is a concern. Abu Garcia has nice introductory set ups as well. Grab some standard spinner baits as well. they work great for both bass and pike. personally I like the double willow leaf blades on mine. good luck and welcome to the board. -
awesome report! a couple great looking feasts there!

FYI for all of you, I worked at a call centre for T-Mobile (american carrier) about a year ago. They may have had cheaper plans (much cheaper in fact) but they also charged customers for both incoming and outgoing text messages ($0.15). I think it's ridiculous that we are charged for receiving something, but at least Canadians had the edge in that department for a while. Who knows maybe the money the americans were making on those charges allowed them to offer the cheaper rate plans. on another note.... They have Cell phones in Uganda??

Looks like a great trip! great report and pics!

The Kingston store has blue fox spinners, and shaky minnows. They also have some other cheaper looking spinners, I can't remember the name of the company, might be whoever bought out shakespear because one of the spinners its self said that. Also have a bunch of rapala hooks, both singles and trebles.
