  1. Day trip to Toronto tomorrow, then hitting a little back lake for some pike and crappie hopefully.
  2. There was a post where this was brought up a couple weeks ago here it is.... high gas prices I looked at one of the links that was provided, and they had some video's that explained it pretty well, sounds like the technology works... the cars main fuel is water, which is converted to an HHO molecule to extract the hydrogen. Apparently this is much safer than traditional hydrogen fuel cells. here is the video.... (about half way down the page) video
  3. I don't mind the non-fishing content at all. It's nice when it is labelled as non-fishing (NF) as per the rules. I think if we had 2 separate sections I would be more annoyed with all the flipping back and forth I would need to do.
  4. Gotta say I'm happy the wings won..... Did anyone have a flash back to the world junior gold medal game when Fleury accidentally knocked in the Red Wings 3rd goal??
  5. I agree 100%, prices are there for a reason. There shouldn't be any extra 'hidden' fees.
  6. GO WINGS GO! 1-0 4 mins left in period 1
  7. They are tasty enough. A lot of bones in them for their size so they can be tricky to clean, thats why I don't eat them often.
  8. Don't forget there is a 'preview' option so you can check to make sure your post/thread looks the way you want before you actually submit it.
  9. Many other cultures see tipping as an insult, perhaps thats why Europeans seem fickle...
  10. It was at the Kingston store, wasn't advertised on their website so it might be this location only, I don't know. It does seem kinda heavy (77lbs) but it does at least disassemble, and has a drop down wheel, so it can be assembled car side then wheeled into the water.
  11. I'll start of by saying I've never been on a charter. I've considered it many times, because I think it would be a great experience. The reason I haven't gone is the price. Lets face it, it's expensive to get out there on a charter, and rightly so, the captain needs to pay for boat, dockage, equipment, gas, etc. Prior to this thread I didn't even consider leaving a tip at the end of a good day. Consider that what you will, whether it be ignorance of inexperience. I understand those who are supporting the mate getting a tip and I respect that, and understand. However it does discourage me even further from taking a charter. Suddenly it's expected that I tack on another 10-20% of my trip cost.... that could be another $150, unfortunately my fixed income doesn't allow for that. I guess it just means that before taking a charter trip, I have to make sure I have lots of extra cash. Now I'm not griping about tipping the first mate, as it might seem, I can appreciate them deserving a tip. I do, however, find this whole tipping system to be getting out of hand. It used to be that the waitress, hairdresser, delivery guy and a few select jobs that got tips. Anymore I find people are asking for, or getting tips that are completely undeserved. I'm talking about the tip cup at a convenience store (yes I've seen them) or at a take out restaurant. I think it's getting a little ridiculous to be honest. my personal favorite is when you are put in a place where you feel obliged to tip, i.e. the hotel worker who insists on taking your bags to your room, even though you are more than capable/willing to do it yourself. just my opinion, sorry for the rant. -fwf
  12. Excellent, thanks for all your hard work!
  13. looks more like a root directory on your computer than anything based on the c:\ beginning.
  14. sounds like a decent outing.... can't access the pic though!
  15. Was over at costco this morning, and came across this pontoon fishing boat... cabelas they were selling them for $319.99, is that a good price for these? look pretty intriguing to me.... Secondly does anyone have any experience with these crafts? I think it would be really handy to take out in small lakes/rivers since I don't have my own boat yet.
  16. no need to buy a new one, check this site out... www.urbandictionary.com Warning: you may encounter some inappropriate content on that site. Some of the new language kids are using is pretty ridiculous.
  17. Jedi, I have a Kayak of my own and don't use it as often as I would like. I want to try some kayak fishing, but I'm a little concerned about how to manage all my gear in the kayak. It seems like it would be difficult to land a decent pike with your paddle and rod in the way. The main do you have any tips for me on how to keep the paddle out of the way and keep it form falling in the water while still landing the fish and not dumping? thanks in advance by the way nice report!! fwf
  18. Nasty... I wonder if that was another fish or a boat prop?? any other ideas?
  19. First time I've seen it as well.... I don't really see how one fish is inside the others gill plate, looks like there are 2 distinct jaw lines. Looks to me (based on the line between the 2 fish) that this picture has been photoshopped to make it look like conjoined twins or something.
  20. I don't use any at all! I do a lot of camping but usually don't get into black fly swarms so it's only mosquitos I have to deal with and they don't bother me much. On the other hand my recent trip to Bay of Quinte saw quite a few bugs, and the three other people I was with tried out the Burt's Bees all natural bug spray. They were very happy with how it worked and it actually smelled nice compared to many other bug sprays.
  21. Hey board, I've never targeted brookies, but after all the posts of the beautiful fish on here I've got a craving to catch my first one. I know they are few and far between in southern ONT, and especially SE ONT. but I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a nice stream and or back lake (canoe accessible) where I might be able to hook into a couple. I live in Kingston and would be looking for something within 1-1.5 hours drive from here. I don't need specific spots (I like the adventure of searching), maybe just some water body names... PM's welcome Thanks in advance -fwf
  22. Congratulations on the engagement, great fishing, and great sounding trip. Its hard to believe that any fishing trip could get much better then that. best of luck! -fwf
  23. The scientific definition of Organic is any material that has a carbon skeleton as it's chemical background. With that said any living thing that you would consider for bait is organic ie, minnows, crawfish, worms, row, or even any type of plant. As for soft plastics I can't really say if they're organic or not... I imagine the new Gulp Alive are carbon based, as it just makes sense since they're biodegradable (carbon cycle). Sinkers, hooks, are typically pure metals or some sort of alloy which wouldn't be carbon based therefore not organic. Flies are typically made of some sort of synthetic polymer and should be OK. However if you have a fly tied out of deer hair or something, a stickler of a CO, may give you a hard time, but I really wouldn't worry about it much. If you plan on going I would just avoid any sort of live and or previously alive bait, or soft plastics. Note: Please don't consider this a true Definition of 'organic' there term could have many different meanings, its just meant for some added info. -fwf
