Great looking stick Garry. May it slay many giant skis for ya!

Most often use a durable Rubbermaid and tie downs when traveling. Air Canada has killed anything else in flight so, the tackle bag will go into the Rubbermaid along with whatever else is valued, that way I'll have both to store things in any boat wherever fishing. If choosing one over the other for in the boat, prefer a tackle bag but still just use the Rubbermaid itself most times.

That's definitely a good plan Rob if something comes up in the Bargain Cave. Didn't see them there Mike. Have liked dealing with them in the past, as well as the new shop, BigWood Muskie Lures. They were awesome fast and slightly cheaper... but their stocks aren't quite as good as Rollies yet. Meegers... please tell me you're pouring me some right now bud. That is an OK option... but really, for a trip coming I'd only like about a half doz. chartreuse and another half doz. white in two sizes.

Gidday all !!! Looking for Kalins (or the like) Jigheads. Not Jig-A-Joe rounds, already have some. 1 & 1 1/2oz with 5/0 to 7/0 hooks. SAIL - No. (can't special order) LeB's - No. BassPro & Cabelas Canada - No but Stateside Yes - $20 order with $20-25 shipping. Blah! Wondering if anyone has seen these or similar in their travels anywhere around here? Thanks Bunk

Opening day picture thread (not trout though)!
Moosebunk replied to Burtess's topic in General Discussion
Great initiative Burtess. A picture here of just the beer bottle and cans along our road, deposited over about the past six months since their last collection. The girls picked up this bag Good Friday and another Easter Monday. Proceeds often go to the Cancer Society or other causes. Drinking responsibly doesn't seem to be in the cards for many folks of Lanark County. -
Great shot of your bro Rob. And a funny story for a keepsake.

2014 Fishing Trips / Where are you headed?
Moosebunk replied to BassMan11's topic in General Discussion
Seriously!!! Some great fishing for many. Will be looking forward to reading about plenty in the fall. Work has clamped down on me here. Bren and I are headed to the Arctic, but all other plans are in limbo until May 15th. Come then the planning begins. -
Shoehorns were just on sale at SAIL for $1.99. PIcked up a half dozen to try for lakers. A smorgasboard of fish for breakfast here... Thanks for posting Aaron. Awesome fishing.

Hey Pete... couple things I often do for camping and even fly-ins... Fajita Kit. Chop, Ziploc and freeze your chicken at home. A pepper, an onion... you're good. Any leftover tortillas... breakfast burritos or sandwich wraps. Pre-cook chowder, chili, chicken or beef stew. Freeze in either Ziploc bags the portion you need for the pot, or in aluminum take-out containers that are easy to just throw on any camp stove. Find with camping and wanting to have easy and hearty meals that are quick, all the prep you can do at home makes settling in to the end of your fishing day that much easier.

Noticed that this morning. It is that one ad at the top of the page which was a problem.

Few better ways to spend any day. Happy Belated Brian!

bushwacking on a bravo longtrack, sledding, NF
Moosebunk replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
Pretty sure Yamaha doesn't make 'em anymore? A dealership told me, that keeping what I've got in great shape, it could sell for nearly what I paid for it in 05. 40-50 of these machines were sold each season while up on the western James Bay. Cheapest, reliable, working sled. Tundra would be the next step up, but with everything going 4-stroke, it'd be a whole different heavy sled and expense. Keep them Bravo's fine tuned. -
Crisp photos Simon. Lotsa reds in those skies and on the lad's head.

Ahhhhh... the sweet hum and back testing ride only a BR250LT can provide. lol. Worth the $11 a month insurance; and assurance, come heavy snow season. -
Any thoughts on Canadian Health Care System?
Moosebunk replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
Don't think any strayed or really whined at all. The OP as above was asking for thoughts on this, and that's what he got. There's room for improvement with regards to "acute care availability and ER wait times," and that process could be approached from many different avenues. -
Stopped in a Gander Mountain yesterday... Lordy that place is the Zellers of 'em all. This Cabelas will be cool to check out sometime if down that way.

Any thoughts on Canadian Health Care System?
Moosebunk replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
Going into college and university our kids have solid fundamentals in english, math, science and arts... but not health, wellness and illness. Not at all. PhysEd & Sex Ed don't cut it anymore. So many people their entire lives lack a basic understanding of the one thing that is more important than anything else to each of us, living the healthy life. Our system is used so heavily these days in great part because of this lacking education. It would be very helpful if during the senior years of highschool, mandatory courses could be taught which study topics such as common injuries, illnesses and diseases, and wellness too. Walking students whom have already learned some fundamentals in biology/anatomy, now into a basic pathophysiology through to symptoms, diagnosis and treatments common to health and care. This would... Empower people (and society) when they would otherwise feel most vulnerable. Help those recognize their true need for the system. Promote preventative and healthier lifestyles. Maybe rather than looking to fix any existing problems of a system sadly destined to worsen due to population growth, costs, time and increasing need, we prepare to make more of our people need the system less. -
I second Krupa. He was a nut, but it was the best filming out there, and there was hardly an Ad in his show. (except the Outfitter's he was with) Saturday & Sunday morning TV for me is better served up as some exotic escape. Places where the fish and scenery tell the story. Shows like Hooked with Mark Krupa, or Adventures North, and "sometimes" Real Fishing too are more enjoyable to watch. Fishful Thinking I don't watch much at all, but when I do the product filter needs to be turned on. Charlie certainly does know his stuff though and outside of the show I imagine he'd be a great fella to share a boat with. I'd still watch his show before a lot of others. As for WFN... If surfing through the guide looking for something and The Next Bite or Musky Hunter is on, then I'll usually tune in awhile. Thing with these guys is, I trust they are extremely knowledgeable about these "other than bass" species which they target. Better entertainment can be found here at this and numerous other sites on the web though. I think for fun we should make the month of May one where everyone tries to put up a fishing report, but they do so plugging as many used products they can. It'll first be funny but probably grow annoying really quick.
