  1. I remember that post well. Mainly because while people were lining up to say what a bunch of Richards the city was being, one or two brave soles mentioned that rules were in place to stop dopes from paving their lawns and filling them with kaput vehicles. Now if only I can remember who those brilliant upstream swimmers were.......... Jim
  2. Chuck Norris tried to round house kick Randy-from-Sturgeon but Randy ducked it and came up swinging. He actually killed Chuck, then CPR'd him back to life and sent him packing with his tail between his legs. Jim
  3. The harder you work the luckier you get! You never get a second chance to make a first impression! I could spout cliché's all day long but the long and the short of it is well done! Jim
  4. They typically have a booth at the Sportsman show and it is no-tax. I believe that they have the same deal on at the store at the same time. Jim
  5. I mentioned earlier that Will turned 8 today. Well here is the photographic evidence and his new tackle box and gear. He told me "The only problem with this dad, is now I will have to change over all of the stuff from my other tackle box" Can you imagine such a problem when you were eight? I bought the bag when they were on sale back in January and most of the gear came from the fishing show. Jim
  6. I had a bow (like a wooden one) when I was a kid and loved it. It has honestly been crossing my mind as of late as something to do with Will. Not to thread jump here, but what would you guys recommend for a kid of 8-10 years of age for a starter bow? Thanks, Jim
  7. All good responses here and there is obviously no right or wrong way of doing it. Will started out with a spincaster on a 5' rod. I then had him using my old ultra-light combo for a trip or two. This is when he was 6 and 7. He now has a 6' rod with a Daiwa Regal. And turned 8 today! I love the fact that you are planning trips with them already. I am the same, it helps the winter to go faster and gives us something to look forward to. (on a side note, I am already having conflicts between planned fishing trips and what she wants me to get done around here over the summer) Jim
  8. Thanks for the replies guys, I guess it is the irony that I am having trouble getting my head around. The irony that you can post about anything in general discussion, where the most people will see it (with all due respect to the "latest post crowd" which by the way I have become Wayne, it is a cool way of viewing) except computer questions. I'm not looking for a fight about, but it is ironic. On the original hard drive question, I swapped them over and fired it up and it worked like a champ! The two host bodies (if that's what you call them) were identical and it literally took two minutes. Thanks to all! Jim
  9. Sorry Matt I have never used Seagar as a main line, but it is the only leader material that I use. I have it on all four of my reels (and Will's as well). I use 10lb. leader material on 6 lb, Fireline. Jim
  10. Just got back from the Caledonia store. Not much fishing stuff on sale (despite a hand written sign claiming otherwise). I did get a package of 25 Slow Death hooks for 2.50 or something. Has anyone had any success with these things, or did I just get hooked? On another note, I bought three of this little 41/2" angle grinders for the shop at school, for 17.99 each!! A door crasher special at our store only. I know these things are not heavy duty enough for industrial use, but they work fantastically well in a school setting. Just me doing my bit to give you guys the best bang for your education buck Jim
  11. Drill a bunch of holes in it and call it Olympage or Cribbics. Nice scroll saw work (I assume). On a side note Jacques, I have never seen a guy that gets more man time than you. I am not sure how you have managed it, but good on ya! Jim
  12. Scaly skin, slimy and fishy smelling, bulging opaque eyes, and look at the Pickerel! Ugly suit or no, that is a hell of a walleye. Wow! Jim
  13. When I log on I just go to general discussion (as a default). And assumed that most do the same. Are you telling me that if you log on to "new since last post" you get all new posts, regardless of category (like in classified for instance?). I hope that most do that Wayne, but I know that I don't. I always assumed that they left the computer questions on general for a couple days it was to give folks a chance to see it then moved them, almost like the computer help section is an archive type of thing. Huh. Jim
  14. I had a computer question that I posted. Usually the mods leave it there for a bit before they move it to the computer help section. Usually computer questions get answers because of their time on the main page. My recent one got moved before there was one response. I am wondering why it gets moved and the "how to remove a tub surround" gets to stay on the main page? (And don't say "because we don't have a bathroom help section"). So, on the main page anything goes, except a computer question? Jim
  15. I have no idea how a float reel could have become seized. BillM, Bert, can either of you shed any light? Jim
  16. Ya, you can fish in the water feature. Hey Wayno, has that second Cub (the white one behind the red one) always been in your signature thingy? I just noticed it now after looking at it probably a thousand times. Unreal eh? Jim
  17. Congratulations! And I am certainly not going to argue with your success, but I have a different take on the same result. The minute I stopped smoking, I was a non-smoker. Period. I wasn't a guy waiting to fall off the waggon or hoping that I wouldn't smoke again. I was a guy that not only didn't smoke now, but never did! I also never counted milestone days. People that never smoked don't walk around saying "I'm 38 years old and haven't had a smoke for 38 years", why should we? When I quit, my first marriage had just broken up and I quit the day before I was best man at my friends wedding. Within two weeks I was out to Vancouver for a bar hopping weekend. In other words, I had lots of reasons to keep smoking, I just did things the way that people that have never smoked did them. Dig? Good on all of you (us) and for those contemplating quitting, there is life after smoking (and it's a longer one) just ask the guy that has never started. Jim
  18. There is a lot of land and expense involved in building a course (I think the cottages and trailers lots are long paid for). I hope that someone re-opens it. Jim
  19. Why, yes, for my full size shower it was a qwadrillion bazzillion dollars, what a dummy I was If your sales technique is to make everyone that bought something from someone other than you sound like a moron, you are going to need more than bathtub fitters to bolster your sales. The job that I had done was fantastic (as originally stated) and the price was very reasonable as I recall. I mean honestly, it was around 15 years ago but I remember being thrilled with the out come and the cost. I went to work and came home and it was done. Mind you, I have always been payed good money for good work and never begrudged returning in kind. We'll check back with your customers in 15 years and see how they feel. Jim (okay, maybe I'm over reacting)
  20. I think the gaf is to swing at anyone that shows up from Muskies Canada The two times that I have had a muskie on have both been when they grabbed 1/2 to 3/4 lb. smallies that I was trying to land. That should tell you something. Good luck!
  21. Bathtub Fitters did the surround in my old house. Top notch job and done in a day. My honey do list says "get to work so you can pay people to do it right". Good luck! Jim On another note, I am terribly sorry for your loss.
  22. You couldn't be more right. I think that this could be an example of the "third generation jinx" on this business. I clearly don't know the details, but this is exactly the kind of business that is big enough to involve many investors. Some could invest capital and some could invest expertise/time, etc. The golf course is magic, and the lake speaks for itself. If you added a restaurant that one could dock at and buy breakfast, no one would ever drive farther north. It makes me wish that I actually has a pot to pee in. Jim
  23. Isn't there normally a bunch of screaming after the BPS sale as well? Speaking of good prices, has anyone ever cracked a LeBaron catalogue? Jim
  24. I was talking to the Rice Lake dude at the fishing show and he told me that the Bellmere Winds golf course and the cottage/trailer resort that went with it (Godfrey's??) had gone belly up. This is a pisser as it was a fantastic course. We used to stay across the lake (at Springbank Camp) and throw the clubs in the boat for a round of golf between peak walleye times. It was sweet, jump out of the boat, jump into a cart and go play 18 holes. I guess that we didn't do it enough to keep the place open. If anyone hears that it has re-opened (DiggyJ) or knows of a similar set up anywhere else could you please drop me a line? It really was a great set-up. Jim
  25. You forgot to say "NF". I thought you were going to say that Colton Orr had been given his own fishing show. Jim
