  1. Yes he did and he was good on his word. We actually chose today because there was limited days left and so that we didn't have to take a day off work. We did ok today. Ended up with more silver bass then eyes but we did manage to get a few, mostly dinks however. The biggest one was around 3lbs. Winds picked up this afternoon made fishing difficult. We wrapped it up around 2. Overall IMO it was an alright day not what we were hoping for but I'm glad we didn't get skunked again.
  2. Was just there today for some eyes. We ended up with with more silver bass but it was still an alright day, winds really picked up this afternoon. I've never seen so many people shoulder to shoulder on shore with containers waiting to fillem up.
  3. I would personally go with the HG as oppose to the lower gear. But sounds like a good set up and a good deal on the loomis rod.
  4. The day is "on him" tomorrow. I just don't want anyone to feel like they're being taken advantage of. Last time the conversation was good, myself and the two others that went all got along great. The only reason the sponsorship was spoken about was because a buddy asked him about it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels your pain lol. I know these things can happen, and I have been out with other guides at different places who didn't make the same offer, or any kind of offer for that matter for not catching anything. I'm not sure if anything else is open in that zone at this time.
  5. Yes, that is true. Would you feel that 25% is appropriate?
  6. I think his rate was around 400 or so, can't recall for sure.
  7. So tomorrow I'm headed to Windsor to fish the Detroit river with a guide. Tomorrow is " on him" so to speak because of not catching anything the previous trip with him. So my question is how much would an appropriate tip be? Not really sure what to do here, any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Sweet looking baits! Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
  9. P&A plastic in hamilton can custom make what you need. They have fairly cheap prices too.
  10. I do do that, sometimes I treat the lipped lure like a jerk bait, and the lipless lure like a glide. But mostly I keep using the bait until I get bit then try to replicate.
  11. I just called a couple places looking for the same thing yesterday. Brewers' Marine Supply in hamilton said they have some and multiple colours however I was told by that the cost was $12/sq. Then you have to buy the adhesive on top of that. Then I called Alexanian's they said they have "waterproof" carpet for $5/sq. Haven't found anymore places yet.
  12. I have both the lipped and lipless version. Both are pretty good but I seem to better luck with the lipped lure. They have got me some pretty decent pike and bass. I haven't tried the soft plastic versions though.
  13. Good to hear things are going well! Wish you a speedy recovery! F Cancer
  14. Best Buy sells USB sticks that you can put the SD Card into then plugger into your computer. I had to buy one because I lost the one that came with the navionics card. You should update your card every couple months to keep up to date with the newsest charts. Also they might have given you a free subscription for a year so after the year is up it will cost you $99 for a year subscription. X2 on the PAB charts some areas are not good to say the least. Some areas the path of travel line would take you right onto land lol.
  15. x3 on the curado, it's the better option. If you're going to spend some money on a bait caster, like said above don't cheap out. When i was in the market for a casting reel last year I ended up getting the chronarch more money then the curado which i was leaning towards but I'm very happy with the reel. I"ve done it before and gone with the cheaper option of reel and have been disappointed with it to only then go back next year and buy the higher end model of reel. I also check Tackle warehouse or Tackle tour or other online dealers for reviews of the reels.
  16. I also fish with a buddy who is like you dad and likes to troll constantly. I believe that every situation is different so you need to decide which is best.
  17. Never thought of it that way, but it makes sense.
  18. If the walleye population is down in some of the lakes, why doesn't the MNR look at potentially stocking the lakes so ensure the population can fully rebound?
  19. I use Scotty brand orca rod holders. I've used them for two seasons musky fishing and for lakers with no issues. If you're looking to invest in some good ones Trojan tackle I believe it's called makes some good stuff from what I hear.
  20. Lmao I've never used that brand of flouro. I use either seaguar and recently been trying sunline both I would say are good.
  21. It was a good show, big turn out. Arrived at 8:30 and the Wick Onez booth was sold out. I was thankfully able to get one of the few remaining hose shads. Also picked up a Blue Water Bait from Lidio and a new Trofik 5 bait. Both guys make some great stuff.
  22. I've stayed at Wolseley Lodge once before in the fall, but it was to fish bass/walleye. So I can't help you with any musky info. When we stayed there the owner of the lodge gave us a map and explained the area and which places to steer clear of and where to be careful. Also showed us some spots. Welcome to the forum.
  23. Welcome to the board! My gf is the same way, whatever new stuff I buy she thinks automatically becomes hers' as well lol. I'm slowly convincing her to start her own collection.
  24. Lol! Not my first choice, but I thought it was a good show.
  25. Don't know if anyone here is familiar with this series, but it worth a watch imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACwVLuaExOE
