  1. Not a recommendation, just my experience... I'm using 80#, no break offs but have had nicks. I use 80 because I can tie knots with it. If I had crimpers/sleeves I would probably run 130+ for trolling and 80 for casting. -Brian
  2. All good suggestions but I will add.... If it's your regulator, your battery may be overcharging and low on water - check that. Wiring harness/plug might be corroded. (I get this at work on the trucks)
  3. Definitly call in the specialists for this one before you spend a dime. I think you have an insulation/ventilation problem causing the freeze and thaw which in turn caused a leak. If you put heat to your roof, everything you melt might end up in your living room because you didn't fix the problem. If your attic is properly insulated and sealed with vapour barrier and you have soffit vents and roof vents, you will never need those ice melters because your roof will maintain ambiant outside temperature and snow/ice will melt evenly. -Brian
  4. Transducers alone? It sounds like huge overhead to cover all brands/frequencies for a small market. I think there would be more of a market for sensors, camaras, downspeed/temp units, black box, downrigger controls etc. compatable with today's network systems. I'm thinking of a hi-res LCD control center that would offer... - colour monitor for your camara - downrigger cycling, raise and lower from the console - black box/positive ion control from the console - downspeed/temp readouts - trip function using sensors for fuel flow/fuel remaining/fuel economy - kicker motor throttle adjustment. I can see a gold mine here in available accessories that would allow users to build on thier systems. A company could develope thier own hardware or just offer adapters/software to interface with already available hardware. A lot licensing hurddles unless it's all home grown hardware.
  5. you're fine... over 120 they might have flagged you OR they weren't reset with chasers. Do yourself a favour, if you need to speed go by the 10% rule... 100=110 90=99 80=88 You'll never get tagged and the you'll still feel like a rebel. -Brian
  6. He's been feeding them a steady diet of digital camaras - who knows how big they'll get! Good luck Wayne! -Brian
  7. Complete turn off. If you think that's weird... I was also turned off by women walking and smoking - way back when smoking was acceptable! Back to the language issue... Anyone that knows me can probably atest to me stringing together a sentance that would make George Carlin blush. If I'm in mixed company or around youngins/teens, I turn off the language instictivley. My wife and I run a pretty strict house regarding language and kids (girls 12&9). Most acceptable language doesn't fly in our house.... "Shoot, damn, fudge, crap etc." - NOT ACCEPTABLE! These are just replacements for foul language. "Stupid, idiot, shut-up, etc." - NOT ACCEPTABLE! These are demeaning and disrespectful. I'm not so naive to think I've sheltered my kids from inappropriate language and frankly, I don't care what language they use around thier friends. I just want them to know that it's inappropriate to use that language around us, elders and in public. The real payoff for us is when we hear "your kids are so... polite ...respectful...well behaved etc." from teachers, family members or complete strangers. They do us proud. While in public, I think it's reasonable to expect good behaviour/language especially from adults. It's not always observed and when faced with poor behaviour I'll either remove ourselves from the situation or explain to my kids that people like that have little respect for those around them. I have a question for those responding in the thread... not to single anyone out but I'll use the example of "if I'm fishing a spot and someone pulls up beside us..." If you are in line at a coffee shop with a buddy or co-worker and you're telling a story with explicit situations or language and a family comes in and is waiting inline behind you, what would you do? a ) stop talking about it "I'll tell you later" b ) lower your voice c ) continue expressing your right to speek freely
  8. A startling contrast compared to Canadian community's efforts to quell fishing/access.
  9. Good grief Pete, I hope this was a limited production-special edition model! Hope it heals quick for ya! -Brian
  10. Umm, Hamilton Fiberglass! Ottawa St. I believe. -Brian
  11. Unfortunately it might only be worth $14,000 next year I was on the fence about a new(er) ride last week but decided to put some money into my van. I was somewhat shocked to see '07 Chrysler 300 going for $15-16K from $30K 6 months ago. -Brian
  12. Well, if all you low emission 4-Stroke guys would go back to 2-Stroke we could get back on the global warming track! -Brian
  13. Great reading, thanks for the link. -Brian
  14. I can understand that, just wanted to make sure you didn't overlook Aaron's boat. He'd probably be the best person to talk to about the pro's/con's.... shoot him a PM. Good luck! -Brian
  15. These guys look a little cramped in the 16'er. By the way, why do you need a livewell? Congrats Mike! -Brian
  16. If I were looking for a 2003 Pro-V I would buy this one.... http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15080 ... and negotiate for some free fishing lessons from Aaron! Killer package, put the plug in and fish. -Brian
  17. The truck has to come out regardless. If left in there and discovered it would be pretty easy to figure out who would foot the bill. I would imagine the fines and recovery costs would cost more than his house. -Brian
  18. Looks great Cliff! I can't wait to spill something in it!!!! -Brian
  19. You're crazy! It's obviously 120 "What is 10 times 3 plus 5 times 6 divided by 2" 10x(3+5)x6/2=120
  20. This is why I stayed in skool as long as I did. Aint no operater gonna screw me outta a fishing prize. I think the skill testing questions apply to prizes over a certain value - not sure why. One thing that has always boggled my mind is the number of contests and promotions that state Quebec residents are ineligible. -Brian
  21. I can vouch for the idling noise level. At Quinte, someone's 275 Verado was parked on the opposite side of the dock to someone's 50,75,90? Honda. Same distance away from me on shore. All I could hear was the Honda. Noise level doesn't mean much in the big picture but I have to say the Verado is the quietest motor of the bunch and it probably has as much to do with sound insulation as anything else. Opti's and E-Tec's boast about light-weight cowling - probably one of the reasons they are louder. If I were buying a new motor today E-Tec would probably be my last choice. When it's been around for few more years I might reconsider my stance. -Brian
  22. Crap, that's only 20 paycheques away!
  23. Ger, are you thinking for a kicker? Clamp-It... it doesn't end at 300, Yamaha announced a 4 stroke 350 last year.
  24. I prefer the S17's myself but they are hard to find... especially in black powdercoat - almost extinct 'round these here parts! I settled for the 'classic' look. The S10 and S17 use the same bucket/holder jst the mount is different. The D series is smaller for single clamps and rail mounts. -Brian
  25. Pay at the door? Knowing Jos he'll be selling those tickets for $68 LOL!! I'm still on the fence but I think I may go. -Brian
