Nice fish but by the size of your hand, I'd put you closer to 11' tall. -Brian

The FRS radios are very handy and portable. When they fail to work they can be thrown at the person you're attempting to reach to get thier attention. We can't get 50 yards in the bush with them but across open water they are a tad better.

Picked up a Wii for the kids this week, haven't tried it yet but my wife loves it. Gerritt, do you remember the old Redneck Rampage PC games? They were pretty fun. There was also another version where the deer shot back...can't remember the name.

Get with the program G, NOBODY uses the triple nipples anymore. The doubles can be converted with a knipex twist. Watch for the slot sizes on the West Arm.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I don't think it'll do exactly what I want but it should come fairly close. Now I just have to find the money for a new kicker and minn kota! corvette1, the tr-1 is not in the near future for me. For that kind of money, I could get my wife a pair of... A - airline tickets to Australia B - diamond earrings C - boobs I know, I'm a good hubby, always thinking of her first. -Brian

I see your point sirfish and some operators tend to cross the line occasionally. Once in a while I'll read a post that has a drive-by spamming odor to it but I don't think it's out of control. If an operator wishes to post a report and has advice to offer, share his tactics and thought process, then we as recreational fisherpersons can benefit from it. i.e. "...I noticed the blue marlins were biting short so I switched to a purple single nipple wodget with a trailer hook and we were slammin' em" I guess from my point of view, if they are willing to give up some of thier wisdom and experiance it keeps them just north of the spam line. I do think it has been monitored fairly well. -Brian

Another great report! -Brian

I'm considering upgrading my bow-mount and looking at the PowerDrive V2 AP/US2. I would like to be able to set the kicker motor to troll at my desired speed and let the bow-mount control the steering. Will auto-pilot correct the direction of the boat without being the main propulsion? (only kick in to correct coarse otherwise in nuetral)

We're still way better off than people on Mars -
I'm itching for some boat fishing on the Niagara but my boat is hibernating until mid-april. I'm not very well equipped for river fishing. Can't wait for more of these Lake O bows! -Brian

Welcome Mike, looking forward to your reports and sharing your expertise! Another new Londoner eh? That's 3 or 4 in the last two weeks! We might have to book the JLC for the next swill. -Brian

Happy birthday G! Seems a good reason the enjoy a beverage in your honour! -Brian

Good advice. Not all camps charge for the little extras and those that do may still be cheaper depending on you wants/needs. Other charges that comes to mind is for dogs, BBQ's, hydro at the dock etc... All the little extras can add up to or more than what an 'all inclusive' price will cost you. -Brian
-
Thanks Dan, I'll have that in mind for spool season... JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!!
-
Pretty typical. Some "high season" rates are double the "off season" and should be called "gouge season". Some cottages consider high season after Victoria Day to and including Labour Day. Dock rates are normal and almost penalizes you for not renting a boat. Extra person rates really tick me off. I understand they need to make a profit but it's like jacking up the price of a shovel/umbrella during a snow/rain storm. -Brian

Is Fluorocarbon leader worth the premium price?
SlowPoke replied to tschirk's topic in General Discussion
FC leader material is more abrasion resistent, FC line is more limp. Both claim to be invisible and have a little stretch, ideal for braid. I use both. I use Seagaur Flourocarbon for for muskie and pike trolling and casting and where I might be contacting bottom with rocks and zebra muscles. I use Seagaur Carbon Pro for walleye, trout and salmon trolling. I also use 10yrd's of Carbon Pro for my leadcore setups. I save money where I can but spend it when it counts. -Brian -
I would also recommend a danforth anchor but that Richter also looks ideal!! If you decide on a Danforth, consider the type with the welded ring that slides up the arm. If you're dug in hard, drive over the anchor (ring slides up) and the achors releases easily. It almost makes it weightless to pull as all the crap falls off the flukes. I might just me one of those Richters! -Brian
