Those quick strike rigs with the 2 trebbles are illegl with live bait in Ontario. You can only have a max of 4 points when using live bait. A single and a trebble can be used. This season pike fishing i have ben having good luck with a small trebble just under the dorsal fin of a large minnow.

Good report, I got skunked today but I only fished for an hour before I took my hut off the ice. My total for this ice fishing season was 50 trout, 82 whities, and 2 herring. My best season yet. Bring on the heat to start the softwater season !

Use it for everything you want , try it out for diferent situations. I have got 20 pound carp on a 5'6 UL. I bet that would be a great panfish rod.

Hey nice report I was out today in 25 feet of water. The 3 of us landed 8 whities and 2 trout ( released a few of the whities). Bit of a rush watching them swim around down there.

Nice sheds , I like that split brow tine antler. The non typical stuff gets me goin. I have never had much luck rattling, but I keep trying. I do my shed hunting while im pre season scouting for turkeys. Just think , chances are those bucks will be bigger this fall for you to chase.

Ive got one jigging stick and tip up rigged up with a 6 foot flourocarbon leader on the end. I also have a tip up and a jigging stick that has 20lb cheap redwolf line and they all catch equal amounts of fish. You will never know till you try, but i bet that will work just fine.

simcoe is a limit of 2 , but im pretty sure other lakes have a high limit

I just got my tranny totally rebuilt by Ian at NORTHERN TRANSMISSIONS in orillia. I had to get a torque converter from him also because mine was toast. The total bill was $950. The quote over the phone to rebuild the tranny was 500-750 depending on what was needing done. He took it apart infront of me and showed me exactly was was wrong ( everything was messed in mine) so it was 750 for the tranny and 200 for the torque converter. PLUS I dropped it off one day and it was ready by 2pm the next day. The guy used to own a mr transmission but decided to go solo and seems like a realy decent guy.

"Lakers have a bit more troubles with the swim bladder if broght up too fast" I have never had any problem releasing a laker. They can regulate their swim bladder so they dont get the bends very often. If you watch a laker coming up your hole it is blowing air bubbles all over the place. A whitie cant do that, thats why you have to bring them up slow if you plan on releasing them.

Did it "burp" when you were taking the hook out ? I find the smaller fish are easier to release. As long as your not a wildman bringing the fish to the surface at warp 9 and its not coming from 110 fow, they will be fine.

Yes its wrong to keep a snagged fish, but its not like you are trying to snag a fish in 90 feet of water. I have foul hooked a few fish this winter and released them to swim another day.. But I dont change the way I jig because of it.

another quick way to keep an edge if you dont have a stone or steel is the top of your vehicles window. Roll it down and use the top edge.

Nice catch ! , i was out in that crap too ! Fished on the ice for 30 mins untill the rain soaked us to the crack and the wind picked up bigtime. Then we headed to the hut for a couple of hours. Cooled off so much by the time i got home my coveralls wer frozen solid and could almost stand on their own. The 4 of us ended up with 5 whities and 3 trout.
