Not worth spending the $ for a transducer (most likely close to $100) on such an old model. A new $100 fishfinder would be a far better than your old one. Of course you could spend even more & get an even better one.

Yes the Torpedo's are directional but in no way do they track as far out to the side as Dipsy's. Placing them anywhere on your line is an advantage being that your able to run your bait much further back from the diver but removing the diver can be a little problematic especially if your alone. Advantages & disadvantages to both types.

Forget the serial # it's the model # you need. It should be on the plate attached to the bracket that clamps to the transom(serial # also on this plate). It should be something like this(CDL-25 or 9RL-70). Post it here & you should get your answer. Rick

Billy Bob have you not read some of the posts from the last few years? The US Coast Guard has stopped Canadian boats in Canadian waters claiming they had been in US waters. Yes the US Coast Guard has illegally crossed into Canada in an attempt to enforce US boarder security. There have been times when the stopped boats never entered US territory as shown by their GPS tracking feature. At least the Canadian authorities are operating in their own country. Maybe the US should get their act together before complaining about how Canadian authorities operate in our own country. Pro Patria

A by-law charge may have stuck depending on the wording of the by-law (in this case iffy at best). The charge laid has no chance. The president set by a conviction would have very far reaching implementations.

You have not stated what time of the year your looking at. If it's July or August you will be very hard pressed to find anyplace that rents a cottage for a couple of days. Weekly rentals are the norm.

Pure bull & hype. "Failure to pass the subsequent Phone Audit will result in the cancellation of your candidate's Pleasure Craft Operator Card." No way they can do this. No national data base to confirm or deny if your card is valid. If the card holder has moved since obtaining the card how will they find them & inform them of the cancellation & revoke the card? If the test supervisor has moved how will they contact them for the audit? So now will they also cancel their canidates cards. What happens if the supervisor has since died? Cancel those cards also? Also no requirement to update your address as a card holder. What their working on is your guilt factor that if you don't comply your friends may suffer the consequences. Most supervisors only signed up to help out a friend and don't give a rats arse if they can no longer supervise these tests.

What "tax crab scam"? The money does not go to the government other than the HST on the cost of the course. As for "If I didn't pass they were going to revoke the people the I proctored the exam for" not likely to happen. How could they do this. Send someone to their house & demand the card back? As there is no national database for the police to reference as long as you have a card your good to go. I'm sure the questions asked were not on boating rules but to determine if the test was administered according to the set rules. IIRC if you answered that the student wrote their test at their own home than that's the problem. Again IIRC the test can not be taken at the candidates own home.

And you thought they were for your navigation needs. What you may not have known is TomTom also tracks your information and in turn sells it to the world wide governments & police. Although it can help in determining infrastructure needs it is also being used to determine where to set-up speed traps & police photo cameras. What's even worse is when you pay the tax when you register the boat & 4 years later they send you a letter demanding you pay the tax. If I didn't still have the tax receipt I would be expected to pay a 2nd time. Keep your receipts. I'm glad I did.

I've heard some horror stories of some who have the app (or other app's) on their phone. If you have some app's on your phone & it is capable of roaming to other systems when your systems signal is weak or not present you can rack up some hefty bills quite quickly. Without a roaming plan it can be extremely high. Fishing or even being anywhere close to the border could put you on US towers. Even when not using the app it may still be running in the background drawing data to your phone & using up data you have to pay for depending on your plan. Bills over $1000 for a few hours for those without plans have been reported.
