  1. Hah! That's too funny! Good to hear you guys did well. The splake fishing can be dynamite and the rainbows I typically won't even bother with until open water.
  2. Very nice. I enjoy doing a blackened cajun type recipe with my walleye, using just cajun powder, high heat and just a drop of butter...turns out fantastic
  3. Besides the triple skunking, it was a great weekend lol! Sledding conditions are just immaculate, but the midwinter fishing woes are definitely in effect (for me at least)
  4. Not much experience with ugly stick's, but I really don't like the Voltaeus. Fenwick makes an UL called a Highlander (exclusive to CT i believe) thats about 60 bucks and it's an excellent blank.
  5. I'm having a pavlovian response to this picture
  6. Certain areas of the bay like Big Bay and Potter's have safe ice for sleds just about every year
  7. Neeeeeeed more!! Been a while since I did a real fry...do you use a deep fryer?
  8. 120 guys on a 1.5 km long lake? Yikes haha I fish a very similar lake close to my house...I fish 15-25 FOW with bucktails/airplanes and white tubes being my favourite, but sometimes the set lines are key. This lake only gets 400 a year but i can count on one hand how many people fish it more than once a year. Good luck!! Lol
  9. So I looked into them after seeing this and I ended up buying a pair! Nothing like opening your sleigh after a bumpy sled ride and finding that one treble sunken deep into everything it possibly can...
  10. The laker was on bottom in 14 FOW. I've patterned rainbows fairly well in open water, and yes suspending over deep water is almost always a key to success. Still putting te winter puzzle together...
  11. Well the winter wonderland has been particularly unrelenting this year (thank god for block heaters and good rye) but February has been nice and mangeable thus far so I've been out and about a couple times in my neck of the woods getting caught up on what i've been missing. The winter makes travel especially convenient for me, since I can hop on the snowmachine and be on about a dozen trout/wally/pike lakes within half an hour on mostly groomed trails. Me and the girlfriend spent an afternoon chasing 'bows on a fairly well-travelled lake during summer, but found the trail in was hardly even broken and enjoyed some deep powder cruising on the way in. Wish I had the gopro running. We didn't end up icing any rainbows (when they're 'off' during the winter forget it) but my girlfriend ended up icing a piggy laker much to my surprise as there is no account of them ever being in the lake. Very interesting catch and only makes me want to revisit the lake even more... Next up, was a fair sized walleye/pike lake just down the road that has always peaked my interest. From what I had previously gathered, this is a quality over quantity lake, and this trip just reinforced. Only iced two fish for the day, one being a very chunky 20-21" eye (in the slot) and a 32" pike (perfect eating fish). The tanin-stained water makes for some beautiful dark fish. Finally, I spent the weekend in a private cabin at Domaine Temikami in Ville Marie, Qc. No fishing involved, but we had an amazing time with private hot tub and sauna, as well as the incredible dining, all on top of the lac Temiskaming valley with an incredible view. Almost wasn't jealous of all the sleds and ice huts March can't get here soon enough!!!

  19. Excellent fish. There sure aren't many small walleye in there
  20. Enormous fish...nice dark colourations too. Fish of a lifetime for many
  21. Williams Nipigon is usually a deadly spoon
  22. You have a mind-boggling array of amazing fishing oppurtunities right on your doorstep, and it looks like you've got 'em all dialed in. Amazing report, but have you been up to the park yet? The snow and ice must be crazy this year!
  23. Oh boy, those blades are mangled! Kudos to you if you even managed a single hole!
