  1. I've never been too fond of pike. Don't enjoy them nearly as much as walleye/perch or even smallmouth.
  2. open-water jigging = braid ice fishing = mono cranks/moving baits = mono Stiff, fluoro leader material on everything.
  3. That was awesome, and almost entirely true. Especially the part about the 500 series highways. I wouldn't have it any other way.
  4. x 2 on the Okuma baitcasters, have had/and have heard nothing but bad things about them, but their centerpins are a great reel for their price point. The Raven Matrix is also an affordable pin, but are very heavy compared to something like the Aventa.
  5. Should definitely still be around their summer haunts. Green weed if you can find it...rock flats if you can't.

  7. It has the potential to bounce back very quickly. It is still quite a productive walleye fishery, and I have seen Kawartha lakes in far worse shape than Nip bounce back very quickly with strict regulations.
  8. Reducing limits for sport anglers will hopefully put pressure on NFN to smarten up. At the very least, it's a step up from the finger pointing and useless 'us and them' rhetoric that gets absolutely nothing accomplished.
  9. Could be either whitefish/herring or big smallies. Water is very warm right now up there.

  11. What an entrance! Summer bassin' in the park is lots of fun
  12. Awesome! Good idea on taking the Chi-Cheemaun on the way up, too.
  13. Fantastic trip. Holy whack-0-muskies
  14. Awesome shots. First two fish are cod?
  15. Nope. I've always found the exact opposite to be true. If anything, I'll throttle up a bit to get my lines set up, especially in a chop. Definitely easier/faster.
  16. A 10 lb walleye is something that has eluded me so far, even though I've landed at least 3 in the 8 to 9 lbs range... I was lucky enough to cross 2 off my list this year. 3 Species of resident trout on a fly rod and a 50 " inch musky. A 40 + " pike is definitely next on my list. I've yet to even hit 35 ".
  17. Chronzey?? Is that you?
  18. There would be no laws on electric motors.
  19. I fully plan on infiltrating your sacred walleye grounds Beauty pics. A perfect cap to a busy summer
  20. This new Corb Lund record is just awesome... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4RnI4NWlwTc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  21. This looks FAR more like a military exercise, not to mention I have seen this video labelled as such on the internet before. But I guess it makes a better story if you label it as a failed attempt at fishing...
  22. You're in flavour country...and I am jealous.
  23. Now that's a fist full o' walleye!
  24. Don't be so specific... Most people would recommend a different technique for each of the species. For walleye in stained, featureless water it's tough to beat a bright coloured worm harness trolled slowly on bottom, and maybe a bright jig head and chub/dace jigged vertically in locations that look that they hold numbers of fish tight together. For shore fishing, maybe try slip floating a leech six inches to a foot off bottom and letting it go with the current. I'd imagine that would catch just about everything.
