  1. I'll be hitting the French for the early muskie opener, lets hope all this $$$$ I've spent on a muskie setup gets a workout
  2. I just finished a big thick pork chop cooked on the BBQ, but man that burger looks goooooooooooooood
  3. Email sent.. This should be fun! (and hell, I am sure I'll learn something)
  4. My most memorable fish was probably the pike the my avatar... Spent 4 awesome days with my dad up on the French River last ThanksGiving. We hadn't been fishing much lately, but we both got bitten by the bug again. Just me and my dad in the crappy rainy weather, like we used to do all the time when I was a kid. Funny story about that pike.. We were fishing top water the entire 4 days for bass/pike (yes, topwater in the fall ). On a whim, I launched a Zara Spook junior across a little channel opposite of the shore we were fishing towards a little island. I didn't expect to get anything but the lure was about 10ft from the boat when the pike missed it the first time. I wasn't even paying attention (I was looking over at my dad talking) when the water just exploded.. My dad looked at me and said "Oh jesus @#$@#$ Bill!"... I quickly realed up and launched the lure back out.. Half way back to the boat she took it again. Ripped a 100yrds of line off in a matter of no time, I think my dad was more excited then I was.. We originally thought it was a muskie until we got it closer to the boat and noticed it was a monster pike. Big and fat from the fall feed, definitely my PB pike.. We got it in the net and we both started to freak out. Quickly got the hooks out, took a few pics and back she went. That just made the trip... This year we have quite a few trips planned, but even if we don't tie into any more monsters, it's the time we spend out on the boat together that is the best part of all of it.
  5. Agreed with what people have said here. Only thing besides your bass tackle that you'll need is a decent 6-7inch wire leader. Other then that, all your bass lures will work fine for pike (If you don't have a spinnerbait, get one )
  6. Ah damn, now I feel like a dumbass. Thanks for pointing out the obvious Dan Perhaps these lures will help skyrocket Team 5 to victory?
  7. Oh man, I am sure the muskies in GBay would love that
  8. Sorry to bump a really old post, but has anyone received their lures? Perhaps Ryan can provide an update!
  9. You can't put the whistle away during regular time, then bring it out in OT... Ref's ruined that one.
  10. To make all the metric people happy 4.28 litres per 100km on the highway. (Average) 4.15 litres per 100km on the highway. (Best tank)
  11. You must be doing all hwy km's. Great numbers!
  12. We pretty much found the same thing, all kinds of fish in the 25-80ft range. We noticed most of the fish were suspended mid way down or hugging tight to the bottom. We marked a lot of fish, no doubt about it... I still think the water was to cold (39-40 degree average). I think when the water gets closed to the magical 50-55 degree mark the Lakers will be doing what they should be doing
  13. My thoughts will definitely be with you and your family. I lost my sister 3 years ago to brain cancer, she was 32 and just had my niece 13 months previous. Unfortunately cancer doesn't pick and choose.
  14. Ahh yes!!! Well damn, I wish I was a bit closer to Lake Erie! 63.5 degree's already? That water must be heating up super fast.
  15. I went in today to pick up the Shimano Citica/XPS rod combo as advertised on the front page of the new flyer. All sold out.. Hopefully they get some more in soon, I'll be bugging them via phone everyday, lol
  16. /me wonders what region is open for pike fishing right now.
  17. I rented a Pontiac G6 V6 when I was down in Florida... Horrible gas mileage even with me being very easy on it...
  18. Nice to see someone caught something out on the Bay this weekend!!! Awesome report!
  19. Depends if the goods are declared or not :) Should they be? Yes.. Have I had bouts of amnesia when buying things in the US and bringing them back over the border? Many times....
  20. Wayne, mentioned we were both sissies for not picking the muskie up.
  21. I had a nice base from being in Florida for 2 weeks, no issues here. Unfortunately Wayne is a little more fair skinned then me
  22. 99.5 VW Jetta TDI. I've seen a best of 57MPG US, my average would most likely be around 48-50MPG. Car has 458,000km's on it and there are no signs of it stopping anytime soon. (All engine internals, turbo, etc etc are original)
  23. What an excellent day out on the water. Wayne it was great meeting you and you kept me in stitches the entire day! The fish were definitely not in the mood today, but they were down there. I think once the water warms up a bit, that spot we found at Giants Tomb is going to be deadly.. The next time we vertical jig, I think we should use something other then rigger rods We definitely got a 'A' for effort and a little sunburn to go along with it. This was my first outing with a OFC'r and I couldn't have picked a better person. Wayne showed me the in's and out of the bigger water on Gbay, gave me a few hints as to were to go for some 'skis when the time comes, and also answered the 1000 questions I had for him yesterday. Again, a big thanks to you Wayne, it was very much appreciated. I had a great time and hopefully we can get out on the water together in the near future. (Imagine if we actually caught some fish? )
