  1. I've had mixed experiences at BPS. Looking for a fishfinder for my dad worked out ok, but most of the people behind that counter couldn't answer my questions.. I went back home, did MORE research then came back in and picked one up. On the other hand, I talked to a guy behind the reel counter for atleast an hour before I purchased my Shimano Citica 100DSV. He was extremely helpful and didn't Bull me when he couldn't answer one of my questions. He simply found a person that could... Anytime I go back in there I make a point to see if he is working or not and have a quick chat with him. Didn't try to push the BPS brand on me at all (which I have had some sales people do).. All in all great store, selection is great and the prices aren't to bad (depends on the item, I find they are very overpriced on reels)
  2. If the OP is a little hesitant, then he might want to pick up a Hayes Manual at Crappy Tire that will walk him through the entire process, with pictures
  3. You gotta remember 40lb Power Pro has the diameter of what, 10 or 12lb? It's not to heavy at all... I think I am going to run SpiderWire Ultracast Invisi-Braid on my muskie setup this year(as suggested by a seasoned pro), or 50lb PPro. As for leaders, I think I'll let the guys at JB's set me up with some flouro or titanium single strand leaders.
  4. Doing a brake job isn't rocket science.. I've done a few sets of pads/rotors on the F150's and it has got to be one of the easiest replacements there could be (My gf's 00 Grand Prix has to take the title for easiest brakes, lol)... Like it was mentioned before, 2 bolts hold the caliper to the carrier, take those off, take the caliper off the rotor and remove the rotor. Installation is the opposite.. I really don't know how someone could mess it up.
  5. I find that using a baitcast setup is just a lot more fun for me. I like the fact that I can reel up, pull the trigger and I am into another cast in a split second. With my spinning outfit, I need to open the bail, grab the line with my finger, etc etc. It's not a night and day difference, but I can rip off 5 casts with my baitcaster faster then I can with my spinning setup. I also feel I have more control when I really wanna muscle a cast and get the lure out there with my baitcaster compared to my spinning outfit. I am also deadly accurate with my baitcaster.. It all depends on what I am fishing for though.. Vertical jigging or live bait fishing it's my spinning outfit for sure. Casting cranks and topwaters for bass/pike, it's my baitcast setup.. Hucking huge wood for muskie and big pike, baitcaster hands down... When I first picked up my Shimano Citica 100DSV and spooled it with 8lb Sensation, I literally giggled when I made my first cast. It just went on and on, I couldn't believe the distance I got with this reel. I could easily outcast my oldman and his spinning setup. A little less distance with Spiderwire, but still not to shabby. I tried to get my dad into using the baitcaster with one of my older setups, but he just couldn't get the hang of it. I am going to pick up a one of the new Citica/BPS combo's they have on sale right now. I'll most likely give my dad my 100DSV and take the bigger 200DSV
  6. On most muskie and pike setups you'll find super lines.. Spiderwire, Power Pro, Fireline etc... I run 20lb Spiderwire on my baitcast setup for pike last year. No complaints other then the line did discolour quite a bit from it's original shade. I am going to respool with the same line, but start from the other end (So this year the untouched line close to the spool will be the line hitting the water). Can't beat the super lines for strength or lack of stretch.
  7. I enjoyed the kid who fought from WoodBridge.. He took a beating but kept on coming for more.
  8. Thanks Mark! I think I'll have to start going to Rama a bit more
  9. That fight defines the work domination.
  10. Irish, you need a fishing partner for Monday? I have a crapload of vacation I still need to take.
  11. Mark, any chance you know the cost for an amateur? I am assuming that there is a lottery or draw for what amateur gets on what boat? I couldn't imagine being on the lake with a pro during a tournament!!!
  12. All you need is a battery to plug the fishfinder into You don't need anything special.
  13. You could do all kinds of things. Rig is as a swimbait, dropshot it... Whatever you want really.. It's pretty versatile.
  14. Sounds like the perfect age to get him hooked!!!!! I bought my 4 year old niece a "Dora the Explorer" fishing rod last year and that is pretty much all she talks about... "Papa, when are you and uncle Bill going to take me fishing again?" Can't beat it.
  15. That kitten is definitely 'mitted'. Very cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. When I used to live in St.Catharines, this was an annual summer ritual Little cleo's worked great for them... We'd catch them almost every single cast, 100+ fish days easily... So much fun. Hell, maybe we fished together and didn't even know it!!! lol
  17. I didn't think the fish were interested in anything during the actual spawn? I'll be hitting GBay on the 1st for some shallow water monsters (hopefully), always catch and release, especially Mr Pike.
  18. What are you fishing for? Pike's closed for another couple of weeks.
  19. Not my tournament, not my rules. Just a simple suggestion to put more live fish back into the lake. Good luck, I hope you have a decent turn out.
  20. It's really not up to Cabela's on how long it takes to get across the border. Who are they using for shipping? UPS? USPS? FedEX? If they shipped it via USPS Expedited, it would be here quick and with minimal border fees.
  21. Why not a quick pic with a measurement and release the fish? No need to keep them in the livewell any longer then they have to.
  22. I would really like to meet Dave in person. If he is anything like his show, he seems like an absolute riot and an awesome fishing partner.

    UFC 83

GSP absolutely dominated Hugh's in his last fight. No one, not even Serra has done what GSP did to Hugh's. I know it's been said a million times but Serra got lucky the first time around. GSP is going to dominate him, I have no doubt about it. Personally, I hope he lets it go to the later rounds and pounds Serra into bloody submission. I bet this is going to be the wildest UFC yet, the fans out in Montreal are going to go ballistic!
  24. Putting on the summer tires, raking the grass. Definitely UFC on Sat... GO GSP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I hope my FTA is back up, lol)
