  1. Dave, it's funny you mention that. I stopped and fished a Lake O trib on the way home just for the hell of it. Hooked into an acrobatic 10-12lb bullet on my first drift in this really nice pool. Had a good 1-2 min battle before the Raven flouro decided to come undone and off he was
  2. Awesome day as usual Mike!! I am still looking forward to the vis clearing up on the first river we hit. Those l ittle jacks had as much energy as the early fall steelies I nailed in the Notty, completely non-stop!!! Good luck in Michigan dude, can't wait for the report! I'm sure you and Ferg will slam them.
  3. Great thread!!! I have had a few awesome fishing moments, that's sure. I actually had one yesterday, lol One of my most memorable was on the French River as a kid (Dry Pine Bay). I got up at the crack of dawn, got some worms out of the worm box hidden under the RV and went down to the dock. We had rented a canoe for whatever reason that year, I guess for us kids to mess around with. I'm sitting in the canoe catching sunfish, perch and having a great old time. I still don't know what possessed me to, but I turned around and saw the biggest musky I've ever laid eyes on swimming out of the shallows towards me and my canoe. Definitely one of the famed monsters the French River is known for. I turn back around and lowered my worm down, hoping and praying that this giant fish takes my tiny offering... A few second later I see this monster not 4-5 inches under the canoe, engulfing my worm and slowly swimming off under the dock. It was like he didn't even know he was hooked. It didn't change speeds, it didn't headshake, it just continued on. My reel was screaming and I was holding on for dear life. After 10-15seconds of reel screaming mayhem, I hear....Ding!....only to look down and see that I've been spooled. I just sat there in the canoe, my heart pounding trying to recollect what just had happened. All by myself n the canoe with no one around to witness the event... I'm not going to make any claims of a world record fish, but this thing was half the size of our 12ft canoe. It was as thick as a tree trunk. I still can close my eyes and picture that fish coming towards me, my rod bending towards and under the dock and that ever familiar 'ding' sound when my reel had been spooled. This is most likely the reason why the French River is my absolutely favourite place to fish.. When I kick the bucket, that will be my last resting place (On the bottom with the fishes )
  4. Makes crossing the border much less of a hassle. I've had one since I was 16.
  5. That river is cursed.
  6. It hasn't been passed yet.... Anything you were only taxed PST on, you will now be charged the full 13%.. Bull if you ask me...
  7. Spend the money on a pair of WeatherTechs.. You won't find a better floor mat. I picked up a pair for my S10.. Complete contoured to the exact shape of the footwell, nice and deep for all the snow/mud.. Pricey, but you'll only buy them once.
  8. Thanks dude, but all the credit needs to go to the guru's that I've been lucky enough to fish with on a regular basis.. Make's the learning curve a lot easier..
  9. Shot all depends on how heavy a float you are using.. If the water is moving quickly, you'll want a bigger float with more shot to get your rig down sooner. If you are fishing frog water (slow moving water), you can get away with a lighter float and less shot... The key is to put on as much shot as possible without sinking the float. You want the float to go down with as little pressure as possible. You'll wanna run a 19-24inch lead from your bait to a micro swivel, then attach that to your mainline. Beats has the right idea though, float guys are a pretty nice bunch, I'm sure if you ask a few questions someone will help you with your setup. Bookmark this link.. It shows a few shot patterns that will come in handy... http://www.fishonlineca.com/index.php?opti...9&Itemid=54
  10. Looks like a chinny.
  11. Al, I don't think you can go wrong with a Daredevil for pike
  12. Victor, get yourself some bearing buddies if you don't already have them. We've been running the same set of bearings on the trailer forever without issue. Also, I don't think you need to swap plugs just to swap plugs. Take them out, have a look and if they are in decent shape, them them in there.. We change the gear oil at the end of each season, one less thing to do during the spring
  13. Nicely done Mike! that is a pig for sure!! I don't mind the cold, but when the eyes freeze up, that really pisses me off
  14. Why not go all out and get a giant OFC tattoo on your back?
  15. I'd probably install the battery in the rear if possible. Unless you plan on running twice the amount of wire in order to put a toggle switch somewhere near the rear of the boat. Place it right behind you and the transom. Get a plastic mounting kit for it and you're set. A simple deep cycle marine battery will work fine if your outboard doesn't have a charging system.
  16. HAHHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fidel is 110% all the time Roy, no rest for that kid
  17. It's a Skamania.
  18. Yup, the poor mans Tarpon.. They are a blast!!!! Nice report Mr.M!
  19. MJL, that's pretty cool man. I really like the sonic blades on the Panther Martins. I can really slow down my retrieve without them sinking to the bottom. I should probably look into picking up a kit, and stop wasting $$$ at BPS
  20. Happy Birthday Wayne!!!
  21. Looks like a Mepps to me...
  22. Been posted a few times, but always a good reminder for the upcoming softwater season
  23. I've fished Ivy quite a bit and it's still a bit brown compared to what I've seen... I took a drive down tonight and it's gotten it's greenish tinge back...
  24. Way to tough it out!!!!
  25. You are talking about simplifying the law but consistently bring up the roe argument? If anything, it completely skews what you are trying to achieve by a simple law that's easy to follow.... The KISS rule applies here....
