  1. Get outta here with this non-sense! LOL!
  2. I guess fish change when they want to, lol! I've found chromers way up stream as well, and also black boots out in the river mouths before they even enter the river. I guess that's one of the joys of salmon/steelhead fishing, you never know what's on the end of the line
  3. Drowning in a Ranger definitely doesn't sound like a good way to go, I can't believe anyone would think that, lol!
  4. Dave, how long of a drive is that from Yellowknife?
  5. Perhaps from shore, but from a boat a 7ft rod is the perfect rod for jerkbaits, topwaters, whatever. (Unless you're a midget, lol)
  6. Wonder if 4 years later all those stocking efforts did anything..
  7. I really like a 7ft rod, regardless if it's 1pc or 2pc.
  8. You require a 20ft Ranger, get with the times!
  9. Steelhead? Looks like a big fat chinook hen to me..
  10. Not a fan of combos either.. Definitely spend more on the reel then the rod as everyone has stated. A cheap reel will give you nothing but headaches, a cheap rod is just a cheap rod. Citica was my first reel and my oldman still uses it as his walleye rod to pull around worm harnesses.. Never an issue with that reel, it was also fairly cheap ($120 or so)
  11. Salmon start getting dark way before they enter the rivers...
  12. Man, you overcooked those eggs!! lol!
  13. I love these comparison pictures, great for a laugh!
  14. I've got oversized cork on both my rods. Definitely helps during those long days on the river.
  15. Just stock Atlantics and the problem will be solved.
  16. Just squeeze the gill plates, no reason to put your fingers on the inside.
  17. I thought that was the normal smell of Port Hope?
  18. Lots of cutthroat out west, I don't think they are worried about the species going extinct, just this specific lake.
  19. I lost my PB pike in the spring, I stood there shell shocked and didn't set the hook. Always next year!
  20. Crap, I wish I knew you wanted an offset Brian, I could have let you fish my AngSpec before I got rid of it so you could have at least tried one out.. I really liked that reel, but the small reel foots on the Frogwater and the Paine Falls are so much more comfortable for me.. Perhaps a simple change of technique would do the trick?
  21. That's the problem with the GoPro. Fisheye lenses rarely make for good pictures. I'd say 12-13lbs?

    Gloves

I've got the Simms Windstopper fold over mitt for steelhead fishing, they work awesome. Although if it's really REALLY cold, I've got some rag wool/alpaca mitts that keep me warm even if they're soaking wet.
