My New Years resolution for last year was to improve my jigging technique, when jigging grubs back to the boat. I think I got the hang of it this year, and I caught a nice number of Walleye in the fall up on Georgian Bay with this technique.. My fishing New Years resolution for 2010... Probably is to give Musky fishing more of a go. Last year we only got out targeting Musky one time.. this year I'll probably improve my effort and time trying to catch one.. on a side note, devote a bit more time in 2010 to Steelhead fishing..

I have a 27" Envision that I bought 4 years ago that is great, and still running strong. My main TV is a 42" 1080P Insignia TV in my living room that is absolutely fantastic. Who says that you have to spend top dollar for the big name brands? I would suggest LCD all the way.. I haven't had any problems with either yet. I'll never be able to go back to SD TV... it's a shame that I have so many VHS tapes.. even DVDs are going extinct.. so expensive to upgrade..

If I was given a million dollars.. and had to keep it fishing related: 1. 20' Lund boat with a massive Verado on the back 1a. Buy a 2009 GMC Yukon to tow my new boat 2. Renovate my house and garage in order to store the boat 3. Probably about $100,000 in fishing gear 4. Buy a couple of nice fishing boats for my closest friends

Dream Species for Once in your Life
tdotfisherman replied to Fishnwire's topic in General Discussion
A dream trip for me would be to head up to Lake of the Woods with some of my best friends for a few days of hardcore Musky fishing. We would also pass the down time by fishing for shore lunch Walleye. I've been up in Sioux Lookout, there were some pretty good Musky lakes up there, but there was limited fishing time while I was there. -
What do you want for Christmas ?

If I got a couple of 50 dollar gift cars for Bass Pro, I would probably buy about $100 dollars in lures, and probably a 6' Light Action rod for Walleye fishing in 2010. I've got so much fishing gear, I don't really need that much.. A new boat would be nice, but that's unrealistic. -
I've caught a Snapping Turtle while fishing for Pike up at Georgian Bay. The Snapper hit my X-Rap on the pause. I snapped him off with my pliers real quickly. I've also caught Crayfish while fishing for catfish with worms.

Nice man, you made the right choice... The Pike have really been on this fall.

Wow.. lucky guy.. I had a boat like that once.. then I woke up..

I find that the best time for hardware is in the Spring, as the trout are making their way downstream back to the big lake. The water is warm and clear, and they are very hungry. I've had huge days in tribs chucking spoons and spinners.. the 'Bows are extremely aggressive sometimes.

Nice vid.. It's going to be decades before I can afford an engine like that.. lol..

My vote was for the impulse purchase.. the trolling motor.

What would be better today....

Fish for Northern Pike.. that's what I'm doing today. Big boys come out to play in the Fall... -
Nice... Nothern Pike are good eating.. I would know.. I had Pike for dinner tonight too

This hog was the biggest Smallmouth of the year, and of my life Caught on a Rapala Husky Jerk.. aka.. the greatest lure ever invented.
-
Wow Snag.. that one Northern was an absolute monster. Great report... as always.

Nice man. I was up at Pointe au Baril last weekend too and we caught 50 Walleye in 2 days. The fishing up there this time of year for those fish can't be beat.. unless your up in Sunset Country.

Throwing small inline spinners in the fall or spring can produce some great Steelhead.. fiesty ones that give you a teriffic fight. Nice fish.

Going up to Georgian Bay for the annual fall trip.. Going to target Walleye for lunch, Pike for fun, and hopefully raise a Musky or two.. The worst part is going to be Sunday morning, going into the freezing cold water to pull out the water line. brrr!

For Canada, anything.

A Month of Toronto Northern Pike Fishing
tdotfisherman replied to tdotfisherman's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the replies and comments guys.. Hopefully we get a few more over the next two months and I can do another decent report...hopefully with even bigger Northern's. -
Me and a good buddy make it a goal to try and get out fishing at least once a week.. sometimes twice if we are really lucky. The Toronto fishery for Northern Pike is a very healthy one.. we've seen and caught a lot of good sized Pike in the last month or so.. Not too bad for a city of millions of people, and most have no idea what kind of great fishery we actually have! NOTE: Many of the photos have blurred backgrounds. I am not a fan of doing this personally, but I do have a respect for shore anglers, and the amount of leg work it takes to find a good spot that is productive, so I will keep them blurred.. sorry lurkers.. THE REPORT: A sight that was seen many times - Pike ON! A very nice sized Pike... my first fish over 30" of the year: Another nice Pike - photo taken on phone.. no camera that day - a hair under 30": More Pics: My buddy Spence with a few... he did catch a fish that was easily 35", but I completely mucked up the net job.. sorry pal!: Nicer sizes have started popping up more frequently in the last few weeks with the cooling water: Hope you guys liked the report.. if your a GTA angler and you like Northern Pike.. GET OUT THERE.. the bite is on baby!

I gave up pier/boat fishing for Salmon 3 weeks ago...
-
Nice fish man. T.O. Pike are certainly on right now, and have been on for quite some time.. although there have been a real lack of GTA pike reports..
-
My buddy just bought a Citica this spring, and I've had a chance to use it here and there. I'm very impressed with it.. its extremely light, but also very strong. I'd say its best feature is its idiot proof backlash/birdsnest feature.. its almost impossible to muck up a cast, which is very good for beginning baitcast users..

Go to a second hand shop, or a pawn shop, and buy yourself a good camera flash from an old style camera. They will run on either 3 or 4 AA batteries, and the flash is usually very bright and makes the spoon hold a glow charge for 5-10 minutes.. It also depends on the style of spoon.. Some hold their charge for 5 minutes, others 20.. Spend between 20-35 bucks for a decent quality one..
