  1. Tell me about it.. when throwing lures around Toronto you get some wierd and whacky hits.. Earlier this year a bullhead hit a blue williams spoon I was throwing, lol..
  2. I caught one of those this past summer.. I had never seen one before and I was a little confused.. I just told myself it was a baby Tarpon, and let it go..
  3. Only one lure eh.. It would have to be my go-to lure, the lure I can never go on a fishing trip without, my Berkley white/silver top-popper.. what a great lure..
  4. Looks like a Tiger Muskie to me.. anywho.. whatever it is, it clearly bit off a bit more then it could chew..
  5. "D" Inside the bay is your best bet.. Personally, I haven't had any success there, but I've only been a couple times, and only had short outings.. I saw a post where a fellow OFC'er caught a nice looking trout there, and I've seen trout jumping, so might as well try your hand at it, and let us know how it turned out..
  6. Great looking pics, and report VG.. I was just watching a fishing show where the guys were sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River, they caught some huge fish, and looks like you did too.. that 275 pounder is an absolute beast... scratch that, they all are absolute beasts! Good Job!
  7. 007, nice pictures and reports from the islands.. I went fishing Wards Island for the first time this past Thursday and there was nothing going down at all.. healthy weed growth was pretty much non-existent, no fish swimming around, and no bites what so ever.. oh well..
  8. The guy in the fish costume really doesn't look too happy, does he?
  9. Here are a few shots from this summer at my buddies cottage on Lake Memesagamesing, up around North Bay.. I only go up once or twice a year, I make sure not to sleep any longer then 5 hours a night, and savor every minute of being up there. The peace and tranquility of the place really gets to me.. Enjoy...
  10. Interesting article to read.. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Walleye fishing, but it's a change from throwing spinnerbaits for pike, and top-water for summer bass.. If your goal is to go out for a nice relaxing evening of fishing, have some good conversation with your buddies at the cottage, have a couple smokes, and do some light fishing, then jigging for Walleye is the ticket.. The key plus for me about Walleye is just that it's a break from other types of fishing, and it's a different style of fishing, but in terms of personal preference, I'd rather go after monster Pike or lunker Bronzebacks then Walleye, but to each his own..
  11. Fantastic decision Lyra. Niagara winter fishing is where it's at, and your boyfriend won't be disappointed at all.. I think I'll "accidentally" let my girlfriend read this thread, and maybe I'll get the Christmas present I've been hoping for..
  12. Wow.. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, much appreciated, and glad you liked the pic's.. Next time I go wet the line for some salmon I'll post more photos...hopefully of one with substantially more girth! Kevin- I'm around Danforth & Victoria Park Ccmtcanada- Don't you dare be bashin' my Blue Jays, lol..
  13. Hey OFC Community, Let me formally introduce myself. I'm Jay, 21 years old and I live in the East York area of Toronto. I stumbled upon this site about a week ago and was amazed at what an active and interesting fishing community this is. I've been hoping for something like this for a while, but never found the board until now. I'm definitely stoked about talking with y'all about fishing and basically anything else.. I've been into fishing my whole life, since I was 6 years old and caught my first Smallmouth Bass. I was ecstatic then and I've loved fishing ever since. Pretty much my whole life I've been a casual fisherman, only doing so at cottages, but I'd say in the last 6 months or so I've really gotten into it, started buying more tackle and equipment, and doing more research about fishing, I'd now say its one of my main passions in life.. I try to get out fishing at least once a week, and I've been keeping that up pretty much all summer and fall.. I've loved all the reports that people post here, they're so interesting and informative and all the pictures that you guys post of your catches are fantastic.. Really gets me pumped up about fishing every time I visit the boards.. Alright, enough of that intro stuff... onto the pictures.. Most of the fishing I do is up north, and not on the great lakes, so I've never really fished for Salmon at all before. This fall I decided to try my hand at landing a Chinook, and I successfully did so for the first time this morning at one of my favorite local fishing spots.. Needless to say I was quite happy, even though it was quite a bit smaller then some of the big bulls I saw jumping and swimming around. It took me about 5 minutes to land, but once I got it in we snapped a few pictures of my first salmon, and released it to swim another day..FYI it was caught at 8am and on a Rapala jointed minnow around the edge of a weed line.. The Catch: and The Release: Thanks for looking all, look forward to talkin' with you all!
  14. No matter how many times I come across those pictures online I never get tired of them.. what an unbelievable fish...
  15. I was at Bluffers on October 16th at about 7am.. It was freezing cold, but that was alright by me if the bite was on.. Unfortunately it wasn't, and there were no salmon there that I could see. There were some Browns, but they weren't actively jumping like they had been a few weeks previous.. I packed it in around 10am, and had nothing to show for my efforts unfortunately. Even the Pike weren't biting when I was throwing spinnerbaits.. I'll be back at Bluffers early on the 30th, and hopefully we wont have back-2-back skunkings..
  16. toronto_angler, Let me know how it turns out for you at Bluffers. I go there all the time to fish for Pike and Trout, but I never use roe bags for Browns.. usually just Rapala X-Raps, Taildancers and Husky Jerks, and they work okay, but the Trout bite there is very slow all the time.. your best bet is for some nice gators lurking in the weeds..
  17. Nice looking Largemouth you've got there.. I have yet to hit up the Islands this fall.. but I'm gonna get there at least once before the snow hits
