  1. Nice pics.. you should always remember the pliers.. they are very useful.. along with jaw spreaders.. Looks like you really hit them good.. I was out fishing yesterday afternoon for Pike and I didn't see or catch any.. but on Monday they were on fire.. strange little buggers they are.. nice report!
  2. coffee, coke, chips and cigarettes.. all you need out there..
  3. Unfortunately for me I'm going to be working the weekend of Pike opener.. I'll probably get out on the Monday after opener.. the action should be good still, and a lot less people, just the way I like it..
  4. I didn't fish opening day last year.. but I fished a few times in the weeks following the opener, and the action was great.. Hopefully we'll get the same results this year..
  5. I know I'm addicted to fishing when up at the cottage I pass on a nice piece of trim in order to get a good night's rest, and wake up the next morning at the crack of dawn to hit the water.
  6. Sorry pal, I didn't mean to intrude, lol.
  7. You're going to be in for some real fun.. Fishing on Georgian Bay for Pike around late May/early June can provide some fast and furious Pike action.. Last year in one trip I took in late May I caught about 20 Pike in 2 days fishing in a limited time ONLY from shore.. Try to fish around docks, emerging weeds, rock piles, points and islands.. they will all produce.. As has been stated, try to use jerkbaits, crankbaits, big live minnows, and soft plastics.. all will work for Northern Pike - and work well!
  8. Top-water fishing had been my favourite style of fishing up until last year.. I found that in 2008, the waters that I fished, top-waters just didn't seem to be working as well as the once did.. It got to the point where I don't think I had caught a fish on top-water all spring and most of the summer, and I just gave up throwing them. I lost all confidence on top, which is a shame, because it's an explosive style of fishing, especially for Smallmouth Bass.. My go-to top-water lure had always been the popper style baits, where you pop, stop, and pop again.. and yeah, like has been said, this technique tends to work best in the morning, or in the evening, or with overcast conditions.. We'll see how the top-water bite is in 2009, hopefully it's back, cuz I love it!
  9. Hey..at least he speaks what's on his mind.. like his rant about the government letting too many immigrants into Canada, God forbid you say something like that anymore, or you'll get labeled as a racist..
  10. You can say that again.. I can't wait for warmer temperatures, and clearer water.. oh and free time too.. btw.. nice fish!
  11. I don't mind lending my net, or helping land a fish on the pier. I figure why just stand there and watch someone struggle, or lose a fish? I'd rather help them, and get in on the action a little bit too. Last fall I spent countless hours on the pier trying to catch Salmon, and didn't catch a damn thing. But it was some of the most fun times I've had due to the positive and interesting interactions I had with other GTA anglers trying to catch giant Chinooks.. Why not lend a hand..or a net? Some day you might need that hand in return..
  12. It really is a horrible condition to have, as someone with the same condition I know. Over the past few months I've also been diagnosed with Cottage Deficiency Disorder as well as bouts of Anti-Soft Water Boating Disease.
  13. Nice fish.. Lake Ontario open water Brown Trout are great fish to catch.. yes, they are big, and fight like hell. Lots of jumps and strong like a Bull.
  14. Team Canada played their butts off today, they should be proud of almost beating the Americans, and yeah, great game by Votto.
  15. Thats one sweet looking fish dude.. great job!
  16. My favourite town away from Toronto is Pointe au Baril.. great fishing and great times. I can't wait until April to open up the cottage, and for May when Pike and Walleye open to fish..
  17. I'm 1 for 2 (free coffee). I'm hoping to win one of those $10,000 prizes.. that would buy a hell of a lot of fishing tackle..
  18. What a giant! That's something to be proud of.
  19. Wow.. Last year the price for an Abu Garcia C4 level-wind reel during this same sale was 89 dollars, and this year their "deal" on the EXACT same real is 125 bucks.. give me a break..
  20. I have an Abu Garcia C4 5600, and I absolutely love it.. the quality is fantastic. I've seen those Black Max ones in Canadian Tire, but they looked kind of cheap if you ask me.. but your not really paying too high of a price, so as with many things in life, the moto goes: you get what you pay for.
  21. How about Pike or Musky tournaments? Has anyone ever entered one of these in and around Southern Ontario?
  22. I won $5,000 on a 'crossword' lottery ticket that I was given.. I used the money to buy my first car, a used Honda Accord..
  23. Check this one out.. it's half the price.. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-b...QAdIdZ108564573 I'd be interested, but I'm looking for something in the 10-12K range....in 3 months.
  24. Yeah for sure.. great job to all the mods and people that keep the site running strong! and to all the great members who contribute to really interesting discussion..
  25. Terry.. how about posting some photos of trophy sized fish next time.. jeeze..what is this, amateur hour?
