  4. promising thus far...been -27 three nights in a row up in Pointe Au Baril...need that to continue and hopefully by february she will lock up.
  5. you and me both bill...ive been waiting since we first talked about it years ago. I should have gone that year when i had the chance...hasnt frozen since.
  6. classic vid...theres another one where the guy doesnt even use a minnow, he just wiggles his thumb in the water. boy i sure didnt run into any of those big girls when i was down in alabama, thats for sure. Theres private ponds down south that I have heard of where they have feeders spraying into the pond to feed bass. I remember a tv show about it once and the kid was basically just hammering 10 lbers non stop
  7. you guys are too much ahahhaha I had a year is PSSD where I was on a stake lake but I was totally lost and starting to get low on gas...All i knew was that If i continued north Id run into the C104d trail that runs east west...well wouldnt you know it the stakes stopped...pinned it, and started seeing some really bad ice, those are the days you hope your belt doesnt decide to blow.
  8. I wouldnt take someone expecting non stop action lake trout fishing, thats just my two cents. If he doesnt understand that catching 1 laker is better than catching 10 perch then you should stick with perch lol
  9. iron has finally figured out how to post pictures it seems....its almost strange to put a face to the voice/words
  10. i highly doubt he fishes bass
  11. man o man those squalls are nasty. PAB looking nice and locked up.
  12. the difference for us was that the lake didnt even freeze up until last thursday, so i didnt expect any ice...theres a thick blanket of snow now but its been -20 every night and -27 last night. Something has to give! if anything I will be out floating on 6 inches of slush like last year lol literally no solid ice at all. we were able to dig through it using the strainer spoon.
  13. nothing will be "safe" yet but there will be opportunities for the careful and brave.
  14. welcome!
  15. im heading to Pointe Au Baril Friday will be testing the ice right in front of my place in the surival suit, life jacket with a rope tied and two buddies on land to haul my butt out if i go through. She froze up last Thursday, but we have had a butload of snow so the ice may be just a pile of slush...We fished last year on 6 inches of slush...it was sketchy as hell lol We have had a couple of nights down to -23 now though, tonights windchill is -33 so hopefully we get enough to sneak out on.
  16. you must not ice fish when its -20 lol
  17. i know of plenty of quads that are still running from the 80's so personally I would be looking for an older style one that is less gimmicky...less ish to break. I would also stere clear of anything bombardier these days...they have gone to total crepe. If it were me id buy a yammy or a suzuki. Doesnt suzuki still make ATV's??? The one my brother's had in the 80's still runs to this day. Also just cause this is an ATV thread...a big F-U goes out to the guys driving quads on the snow trails lol signed a snowmobiler lol
  18. a fitted cap and a hoodie for winter steelheading? thats pretty hardcore well done!
  19. the leafs dont need another offensive d man. Especially one that is going to try ask for 13 million a year.
  20. ill send ya a PM
  21. go to island lake...non stop pike and perch action and it freezes early.
  22. your sonar needs to be univesal sonar compatible. I would think that your old eagle would not be, but i could be totally wrong. You then need to buy the US2 adapter for your sonar which will allow you to plug into the connection on the terrova. if you are running 3 batteries, you want 1 for your starter livewell and electronics and then the other two exclusively for your trolling motor. Some people like I know Bill M run a fourth battery to not run electronics and the livewell that way there are no concerns about using up your starting battery while you are out on the water. If you are running that many batteries it can be really worth it to look into a sealed bank charger that allows you to just plug your boat in and get all of the batteries perfectly charged after every trip.
  23. remember this...because toronto was a total victim of this for many years great teams win games that they are definitely not supposed to win. How many times did this happen when toronto used to play boston, chicago, detroit etc etc on any given night. Toronto would dominate and the other team wouldnt even show up, yet somehow at the end of the game the good team would force overtime and then beat us. At the end of the season thats what matters, when you sneak two points out of a crap game. Matt's complete disappearance from this thread when he used to reply multiple times a day is hilarious.
  24. I literally just upgraded from a powerdrive with ipilot to a terrova with ipilot. Heres what you need to know, Powerdrive V2 has no footpedal, its storage system is a bit clunky and can be a real pain in the but to deploy its controller also isnt as nice as the Terrova. The Terrova has an assisted deploy system, its literally 10x better than the powerdrive. The foot pedal is also awesome, has all of the functions of the ipilot remote, including anchor, bearing heading and constant. The controller is also much more user friendly i find on the terrova. Extra bonus US2 capability to throw a sonar up at the front of your boat. I also have used the terrova and the non ipilot power drive with the footpedal and make absolutely no doubts, the footpedal on the terrova is 10x better than the oild powerdrive footpedal. it drives almost like a cable drive.
