  1. bit of scary and humbling news today out of Florida. A co-angler in the costa FLW series is missing after the boat they were fishing on got swamped. https://www.wptv.com/news/state/one-fisherman-found-another-missing-on-lake-okeechobee Not to spark up the debate about bass boats...but I have always said that those things are friggin stupid when fishing big open lakes. Id personally never buy one because how in the hell is a boat thats 1 foot off of the water ever going to stay afloat in a 6 foot chop. Really really scary and sad stuff.
  2. Find the deepest flatest area of the lake and get on some crappies!
  3. that last one is a fat Bstrd
  4. great job guys, woulda been awesome to get out with you guys...i guess we will see what happens next year. gotta love a pic of a guy out in the winter, no hut, bare handing, with tear aways on....beast mode. Hoping to fish tomorrow but the forecast for the morning looks absolutely stupid...perhaps some of the coldest weather I have ever seen in PAB. Right now the forecast is -32c with 40kmh winds...calculated out thats -50c forget it...hut or anything thats just impossible to try get sleds to run and then get a pop up set up...Ill probably wait until the afternoon when the forecast greatly improves...Jesus you know its friggin cold when -25 with no wind is literally twice as warm as it was in the morning...insanity for Ontario. We didnt even fish in that garbage when i lived in Northern Manitoba.
  5. thtas the other thing...IMO i think eating quinoa cold is not doing it justice....get that stuff hot with some roasted broccoli and some barbecued chicken with some tzaziki sauce....damn my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
  6. i actually prefer quinoa over rice as crazy as it may sound...flavours are pretty close but i like the texture of quinoa a friggin lot. As mentioned its also way way better for you.
  7. built a rink myself over the holidays...did the first pass when we had minimal snow by hand and she came out pretty good. Came back 3 days later and 6 inches of fresh snow had fallen on it, so out came the snowblower...put the level right down to scrape as close as possible to the ice, shoveled the remainder off with skates on and had my brother push up the banks from the outside. Then the cold came the ice got pretty brittle and was cracking up a lot so i spent 2 mornings in a row in -32 hauling pails of hot water down to the lake where i then took snow and packed it into the holes, poured hot water on them to make slush and then took a puck to it to smooth it out. it worked pretty well, was just grueling work on your hands and knees at -32. luckily my Kast steelheading gloves were up to the task and kept my hands warm and dry while the ice built up on them to the point that i looked like i had mr freeze hands. even at -19 everyone was out on the rink, at the least the wind stayed down which made it easy to stay warm. Whats some pond hockey without an accuracy shooting contest...my 63 year old mom beat me and my brothers who all play hockey after sniping 3 for 6. *note hitting the rubber on the bottom sorrels didnt count, had to hit material to make it realistic LOL!
  8. the colour in this photo is really cool I just changed err up...built a dece rink over the holidays on the lake.
  9. all i know is that if your wife is booking vacations so that you can fish...youve got a keeper
  10. I did an interview and was on CP24 and then my best friends girlfriend who works for CTV did a live hit and was on the CTV national news...im the guy with the sunglasses on in the video and of course, rocking the nautilus survival suit! lollll Dart guy was part of my 30 person group that headed down...nice guy. Took us 5 hours we made it in time for the first intermission and our tailgating plans got completed scrapped.
  11. bought mine used off of a board member saved myself a few hundo $$ and the thing is awesome.
  12. "his billing" you mean his stats that are the dead on equivalent of Tyler Bozak? Bozak is exactly that...a consistent solid third line guy. Dunno how you were thinking he was anything else.
  13. if you are desperate head north...its been absurdly much colder north of huntsville than it has been down here. On sunday morning it was -25 in pointe au baril, but only -11 once i got to barrie an hour later. Not sure why the huge difference but its been substantial. We had a few nights last week that got down to -28...theres a decent amount of ice, much better than what i am hearing from down south.
  14. Leafs sell out a Tuesday 2 pm game against Carolina some teams cant even sell out a conference final game lol
  15. does this now mean that i can have multiple fishing license cards just like boating licenses? im brutal for forgetting it in one place or in my jacket and then going out in the boat without it while my jacket sits at the cottage etc.
  16. Nick, its becoming a tradition of my own the last couple of years with the christmas falling on the weekend to go up north that weekend with a couple of buddies. My christmas' fall on off years, so this year its on christmas day, Last year it was boxing day. Last year the guys went home on christmas eve and I spent christmas day by myself at the lake...it was a really cool feeling getting up at 7am and going out on the ice solo on christmas morning. you may never hear a quieter time, even the distant highway noises completely subsided. As it got a little later i started noticing a bit more movement around as people were going to visit families etc but it was a morning well spent. Unfortunately I have to be back in Toronto for 12 on Christmas day this year or I would be joining you for some crapolas for sure.
  17. lollll you guys are hilarious. Black flies do go down at night...but usually its pretty dark before it happens...and to be honest, youve already been ran inside by the mosquitos. Theres three seasons on the north east side of G bay....mosquitos and blackflies, and mosquitos and deer/horse flies...and then winter
  18. This makes me feel a lot better about how things went out at our place....i wasnt sure if it was where we were fishing, or if something with the weather had the bite off...i mean it was -20 and crystal clear most of the day so that could be factoring in. Im glad i get another opportunity Friday Saturday and sunday this weekend to try get it going again.
  19. nice slab there, welcome back
  20. took this one back in october of my buddy jake
