  1. I don't know that I'm familiar with Cache Bay, but this time of year, a red or white jighead with a minnow is pretty much all you need. Start in 15 FOW off of points or bluffs, and move deeper until you find them. Also do a search on the forum for Nipissing...you should come up with a reasonable amount of info....good luck
  2. Welcome aboard, Dan...there are so many trout threads on here, the best way to find what you want is by using the search function. From what I've heard and read, there are plenty of opportunities close by...just do a bit of reading and you'll find what you want closest to you. Good luck!!!
  3. They're definitely out...bring some nice hand rolled cuban repellant and you should be fine
  4. You gotta work as much of the likely spots on the lakeshore as you can...I've thrashed the water pretty good so far, and am ready to give up unless I get some time to hit the Islands. Or possibly the ferry docks around Queens Quay. Just keep searching Bruno....could be presentation too. Supposedly a jig and lizard is a good tactic this time of year...check out the info on the fishcity website.
  5. Yep...get some husky jerks, some Gold Williams wablers, and jig heads. Stinger hooks to go with your jig heads, and put minnows on them....right time and right place...good luck!! Green and white are good colours out there for spinnerbaits when pike fishing....something with a closed eye so you can clip it on to your wire leader. Any weedy flats are good.
  6. Great post, Wayne! And the CO's not kidding about the boot thing....I knew a guy who got busted for stuffing the pockets he'd sewn on the inside of his pants with fish that were over his limit!
  7. Sounds great - I hope you have a fantastic trip!
  8. Nice work, Dirk...one walleye down....lots to go!
  9. Awesome report, Limey --- you are tracking the progress of the ice receeding inch by inch...I wouldn't expect anything less! Your boy is a real looker too...must take after Momma Keep the great pics coming!!
  10. Wayne, that is simply amazing. I can't believe that's not worth a patent....wow. My cousin and I will be in your neighbourhood the week after long weekend...we'll keep our eyes peeled for the Flying Irish Sportspal
  11. I'm countin' the days and hours 'till I'm up there from Wed.-Sun after the long weekend....don't mind at all if it stays cool enough to keep the bugs away THanks for the info, Malcolm!
  12. MAybe a jealous angler swapped your X-Rap out for an original floater when you weren't looking

  14. CHeck the hook-ups section of the board...
  15. Fantastic report, Cook! Took me a bit longer than 5 mins toread, and I imagine it took quite a bit of time to write and post...thanks for sharing! Love the detailed info on depths, temps and stomach contents I will keep those details in mind when I'm hunting specks soon!!!
  16. They also call it "Whipping"...try looking for rods under that name.... here's a good link: LSCWA Man I have some good memories of shore fishing on the St.Clair for those 'eyes....good times!
  17. The day I eat fiddleheads is the day I have some fresh-caught trout to fry up with 'em! I sure hope that day is coming soon
  18. No line twist spinners = Panther Martins
  19. Hey Spinnerdoc...the lures look good...X-raps and similar jerkbaits are also a popular choice. If you do a forum search for "toronto islands" or "toronto pike" you should find all the info you desire. Also hit up facebook for the toronto fishing fanatics group. Good luck!
  20. Well, I would say the fewer replies, the less pressure it gets. We'll know it's a great lake if we don't hear about how you do
  21. Pretty sure you want to look up Northland Express....I think the Little Bear still does that. Been a fantasy of mine for quite a while...good luck! Okay...I wasn't exactly right, but, you should get a little further on THIS website
  22. I ate a 10 lb'er last weekend...wll be the last big one I eat...lots and lots of fat. THe meat itself was delicious though! Can't wait to eat the smaller ones that are swimming around the freezer Unrelated to the consumption of said catfish, my 9 year old son is looking a little pale...don't think he'll be fit for school tomorrow...we are heading down to Dunnville, 'cause we've got cat fever!!!!
  23. In 1996, I remember taking supplies to Camp Mac Mac (one of the lodges near the mouth of the French) on May 12th, the day after the ice went out....nasty 18 mile ride with big waves...one of the boats got its floorboards cracked from the gear bouncing up and down in it...good times

    Hot DANG! Nice work, boys!!
  25. Well, the in-laws are opening the family cottage up on Gull Lake this weekend, and, being the nice guy that I am (read: the ice is off the lake!) I offered to come up and do what I can to help with the clean-up effort. I will definitely be bringing some trout gear for some lakers that should still be in shallow...but am wondering what bodies of water might be around, and accessible. I will have a canoe available as well...if anyone can help out I'd sure be glad to return the favour when called upon
