  1. Uhhh... Doc...do you wanna point out that it's "their", not "there", or should I?
  2. The top arm of the t-shape either folds inline with the whole thing if it's in the way, or tucks up under the gunwale to make sure that everything is hanging straight down. That may not help either...but...it's basically a "there if I need it" sort of thing
  3. I never thought I'd read such statements on a post from HogSwaller!!! Well said!
  4. now THIS is a great thread!
  5. Yup...what the doc says. I've given up on the suction cup altogether...I just have the metal bracket that used to hold the suction cup bolted to a biece of wood, with another piece of wood at the top, making a t-shape. with a c-clamp, I'm able to attach it just about anywhere, or hang it in the ice-fishing hole.
  6. I think it's really not a bad thread. Seems that most on here agree that being gentle and releasing the fish as quick as possible is important. I hope I catch a fish big enough that I have to support it with two hands for fear of damaging it!!!
  7. topic # 25,000....and it's a beauty!
  8. My Bio-degradeable "Campers Soap" is made by coghlan's, is available at Wal-Mart...I thought it was only $6. Maybe it is $9, but I can tell you that I still have half a bottle after a few years...all I use it for is the dishes, and am suprised at how little is required. IF you're going to bathe with it all summer long...it may not last that long. But seriously...anything "environmentally friendly" is prolly gonna be a lot more than $9... Being "green" makes lots of "green" these days
  9. auto_freak -- I'm not a carp fisherman by any stretch of the imagination, but I do know if you go down to just about any shallow stretch of shoreline along lake ontario, you're bound to see them swimming around. A lot of the parks have nice weedy areas that seem to hold carp...just hit up Google Maps and you should find a few spots. Also, hopping on the Ferry to the Toronto Islands will put you on some good carp water, from what I've heard.
  10. Nice fish in those shots...welcome aboard, McMurphy! Any idea what the lengths were on 'em?
  11. How come Detroit couldn't hit the empty net the past two nights? Talbot only needed about 5 seconds
  12. auto_freak, welcome to the board! You have definitely come to the right place to get info for carp...lots of dedicated carp anglers here..enjoy!
  13. I think John F is the feller' yer lookin fer..... ?
  14. Wow...seems like the crappie are really taking off in West Lake...too bad you didn't tie into any walleye...sounds like you had fun though
  15. Not a bad way to enjoy "nap time"
  16. The Cubans also make some EXCELLENT bug repellant...hand rolled and everything!
  17. WEather network is your friend....water levels will most certainly be high, so look for places that get the most sunlight through the day, they'll warm up quicker. Bugs will be bad if it's warm out....but you might get lucky if you're far enough north. I doubt it though Bring back lots of pics to post!!!!

  19. Mmmmm.....Kawartha Dairy.....mmmmmm
  20. Detroit is impressive, but they've been getting the lucky end of the bounces...plain and simple. They may have more self-control and discipline overall, and be less likely to be rattled, compared to the Pens...but so far they aren't winning these games by domination, or even on their own merits entirely. Pittsburgh has shown that they can outplay them...but only in spurts. Good hockey either way you cut it, and I'm not a devoted fan of either team, but the more I watch, the more I want to see the Pens win, or at least see Detroit earn their goals instead of get lucky bounces.
  21. Yup...on small water, the flat boats are ridiculously stable...but no good in any kind of chop. I usually stand on the front seat of my little 12 footer (v-shaped hull) and even it's heavy enough to be stable while I'm doing that. Hunting down some new plywood this summer to redo the transom and a couple seats, so I think while I'm at it, I'll fab up a little platform for the front
  22. Wow...I know nothing on the topic, but this is some excellent feedback. NEVER give up on your dreams...and definitely have a backup plan
  23. Best way to catch fish is to forget your sign Just have someone tuck it into your gear when you're not looking!
  24. Well, hopefully he wins the tournament with it...if you find out the exact weight/girth/length, I'd love to hear it
  25. Awesome stuff!!! Very nice way to spend the day....next time try just gutting the fish....leave the skin on....dip it in flour on each side, and add some salt. THEN throw it in the pan with the butter....probably tastes just as good, and less work Meat will flake right off those bones
